  • Ann Rutledge: Participants: Innovators Network: Programs: Japan Society
    R R are co authors of The Analysis of Structured Securities published by Oxford University Press in 2003 A companion textbook The Elements of Structured Finance is scheduled for publication in early 2008 Prior to that Ms Rutledge worked in the structured finance group of Moody s Investors Service in New York and Hong Kong where she was the solo member of the non Japan Asian team Under her stewardship ISR named Moody s for the first time as best rating agency for Asian structured finance In the mid 1990s Ms Rutledge served the advisory group of J P Morgan Securities Asia in infrastructure finance and before that managed Morgan s exchange traded derivative business in Asia Ms Rutledge also helped to put the Hong Kong Futures Exchange back on the map in the early 1990s with clearinghouse reform initiatives member training and the listing of the Hang Seng Option She continues to consult on issues related to exchange governance and bond market development In addition to co chairing the American Securitization Forum s inaugural Securitization Institute in 2006 Ms Rutledge is an adjunct finance professor at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology a Director of the Hong Kong Association of New York and the President and Treasurer of the Chinese International School Foundation New York She has extensive multi cultural and multi disciplinary team experience and speaks Mandarin and Cantonese She received her M B A from the University of Chicago and her B A from Wellesley College where she also was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and received the Wellesley Yenching Fellowship http www creditspectrum com Calendar of Events February 2016 S M T W Th F S 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18

    for Healthcare and Public Concern Tokyo Kenbikyo In which was established in 1891 Genki Plaza took over the center s healthcare services and performs health screenings at workplaces schools and local communities It also offers comprehensive medical checkups outpatient services a diabetes center mental and physical counseling and a gender specific medical center for women Shimomura received the International Athena Award from the Partnership for Women s Health at the Columbia University in 2002 for introducing gender specific medicine to Japan Shimomura graduated from Keio University in Economics and received her master s degree in the same subject at New York University She was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 1987 88 In 1965 Shimomura started to work for Asahi Shimbun Japan s leading newspaper daily circulation 8 million and went all over the world Her two decades with Asahi Shimbun is a record of many first woman s in Japan the first female foreign correspondent Asahi Shimbun New York 1980 the first woman journalist to achieve Senior Staff Writer status and the first woman Editor in Chief of a major national circulation weekly magazine Asahi Journal 1990 92 She was the first woman to receive the Vaughn Ueda International Journalist prize for outstanding international reporting 1982 Shimomura left Asahi at the end of 1994 and continues her active career as an independent writer and journalist TV commentator and public speaker In addition to her work as a journalist Shimomura has written more than twenty books including Harvard Memories Reflections on Japan and the U S The Truth behind Japan Bashing American Views of Japan and Made in Japan Akio Morita and Sony which was written in1986 in collaboration and subsequently published in 20 languages Her latest book is Thank you to you Meaning of Life Mitsuko Shimomura s

    a variety of tactile sensations She has shown a knack for gravitating to the most prominent young companies in Silicon Valley While at General Magic a company conceived by Apple Computer veterans to do for mobile computing what the Macintosh had done for the desktop Smith began drifting from engineering to business She began working with the company s corporate partners and in time the only daily reminder of her own technical work was a desk drawer filled with mechanical engineering paraphernalia After leaving General Magic she joined another start up PlanetOut a Web site catering to gays and lesbians By 1998 Smith was the chief executive of PlanetOut The plans for an initial public offering were dashed by dot com crash PlanetOut is still around and after a merger in 2001 it is profitable But Smith is now working on business development at Google where she s helping Google revolutionize the search engine world and teaching up and coming engineers how to fix the real one As a Reuters Digital Vision Fellow at Stanford University she advised researchers from around the world on ways to bring technology to developing nations She also advises Design That Matters an organization that enables engineering students to bring their technical expertise to bear on problems in the Third World Helping people access things they need is one of the best things you can do she says of her work at Google It s exciting to work on a set of products that really helps people in their daily lives What s the next big thing Smith expects to see enormous growth in online photography This year there are going to be 29 billion cell phone photos taken https www whitehouse gov administration eop ostp about Calendar of Events February 2016 S M T
