During 1 month of research professional circus artist and ACAPA graduate Darragh McLoughlin will work on his full length stage piece Fragments of a Mind Darragh McLoughlin Productions is an Irish circus company that makes use of the liberating potential of creating for the stage by inventing abstract worlds with specific logical frameworks Quickly realizing that juggling doesn t make sense in any social situation the company concentrates on giving meaning through shape effect and functionality of patterns Applying dramaturgical logic as a center point to the creative process is a defining feature of the Company s esthetics The Company s research focuses on challenging the symbiosis of meaning purpose and action Deep into that darkness peering long I stood there wondering fearing doubting dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before Edgar Allan Poe This piece is about a man in a place that is both somewhere and nowhere at the same time We do not know who he is or how he came there We just get to observe how he deals with this strange world he finds himself in 4 squares of light activated one by one each bound by it s own logic A character moves between them in an endless cycle of déjà vus The cinematic sequences with occasional jumps in time slowly guide the audience to draw their own conclusion about the nature of the characters situation and state of mind thereby sharing a very intimate relationship A man moves between four rooms That s it That is his reality 09 07 31 07 2013 International Ibsen Research Laboratory In July AIR welcomes a special project 4 female circus artists from different backgrounds and artistic disciplines meet in the framework of a research and creation laboratory There will be 2 public showings toward
