    by Playing Grants Scholarships Look at Agriculture Organically Grants The Look at Agriculture Organically grants are designed to creatively enhance the understanding of organic agriculture for kindergarten through eighth grade students Grants of up to 1 000 will be provided to educators nationwide to support the integration of organic agriculture into regular classroom instruction The grants are provided through a collaborative effort between the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom CFAITC and the California Certified Organic Farmers CCOF Foundation The grant application period is now open and will close on Sunday May 15 2016 Online Application Form Grant Details for 2016 2017 Year Eligibility Look at Agriculture Organically educator grants are available to certified K 8 teachers nationwide Project Requirements A project proposal with an itemized budget A progress report by November 13 2016 A final report by April 1 2017 in the form of a video poster slideshow or other form approved by CFAITC A list of expenses with associated receipts Project must be completed within the 2016 2017 school year Project will follow organic production and handling standards from the National Organic Program Grant Guidelines Grant applications must be submitted online by Sunday May 15 2016 No late applications will be accepted Grant recipients will be announced online on July 15 2016 Selected educators will receive funding in August 2016 Funding Look at Agriculture Organically grants up to 1 000 each are awarded to 20 educators A significant percentage of grant funding will go to teachers in school districts with 50 percent or more students enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program Project Ideas Have students set up and operate a compost system for the class Have students learn how composting is a natural way to add nutrients that make healthy soil Grow an organic pizza

    website California Fertilizer Foundation School Garden Grant Program The California Fertilizer Foundation CCF provides 24 grants for 1 200 each to schools throughout California 12 awarded twice a year At the end of each year winning schools can re apply for a progress grant of 1 500 and a free agricultural field trip Through the garden program CFF provides direct funding to California schools for garden projects For more information please contact Callie Borror at 916 574 9744 Annual Deadlines January 15 and June 15 Apply Online Lowe s Toolbox for Education Grant Program Lowe s offers grants for enhancing school landscaping both indoor and out door Project ideas include reading gardens and vegetable gardens Any public K 12 school or non profit parent group associated with that public K 12 school can apply Annual Deadline February 12 Spring Cycle Apply Online Project Learning Tree Green Works Grant Since 1992 Project Learning Tree PLT has distributed over 1 million to fund more than 1 000 environmental projects in communities across the country Grants are provided to PLT trained educators for students to implement environmental improvement projects Annual Deadline September 30 The application will be made avaiable online in Spring 2016 Western Growers Foundation and Driscoll s Edible Garden Grant Western Growers Foundation WGF has partnered with Driscoll s as a part of their Regional Community Grants Program to award 10 000 in edible school garden grants WGF will award twenty 500 grants to K 12 schools throughout Merced Monterey Santa Barbara Santa Cruz Shasta Tehama and Ventura counties This grant is only available to schools with a large low income Latino student population and or Migrant Education Program Schools that don t meet these requirements and or aren t located within the above mentioned California counties will not be eligible
