    click on the Gift Aid button to download the necessary form Gift aid Powered by Donation Can Coffee Morning in East Kilbride Smart Text Giving Easter Egg Hunt Raises 600 St Stephen s Dalmuir has been a good supporter of Let The Children Live for some years now and their latest effort an Easter Egg Hunt was organised by the children of the parish A group of children from St Stephen s School who also attend the Sunday School and the Sunday Club are taking part in the Pope Francis Faith Award This involves working in and for the parish and for the wider community The children all primary 6 decided to hold an Easter Egg Hunt to raise money for children who are helped by Let The Children Live The week before Lent began the children sat down and talked about what would be required to make the day Easter Sunday a success They did a letter for the parish bulletin asking for donations of Easter Eggs to sell raffle prizes and home baking on the day They asked Mrs Shields the parish provider of cups of tea and coffee if she and her ladies would prepare tea and coffee for them on Easter Sunday and she was happy to oblige Each Sunday at the Club the children met for 15 20 minutes to talk about how things were progressing and they showed great commitment and teamwork There was no bickering and everyone played their part faithfully As Easter Sunday drew near preparations became more intense The church penny jar in which all the children put 1p and 2p coins when they can was used to buy sweets and the boys and girls gave up several hours of their holidays to bag them up to sell on the day

    good fun quizzes raffle and a first class fish chip supper Teams of between 4 6 Come as a team or Join an ad hoc team on the evening Tickets 7 50 each including the fish chips Doors open 7 00 pm Start 7 30 pm Bring your own drinks and we will supply the glasses To book your tickets call Quiz Master David Bates on 01206 863067 or email dabates1506 gmail com Proceeds to Let The Children Live Charity 1013634 www letthechildrenlive org Chris Sands cssands aol com Posted in Updates No Comments His Alma Mater Over the past 3 or 4 years George McAleenan has visited Our Lady s High School in Motherwell on several occasions to talk about the work of the charity This school is George s Alma Mater so he has a special affection for it The school has been very supportive of the charity financially but their support hasn t stopped there Some of its talented pupils have made two Marian Tapestries which have been given to the charity for use in the chapel in Casa Walsingham in Medellín The tapestries are copies of stained glass panels in the doors of the school s chapel and on his last trip to Colombia George took them with him and presented them to Fr Peter in the chapel at Casa Walsingham The school feels a special bond with the charity both because George is one of its old boys and because Our Lady is patron of both Posted in Updates No Comments What a Coffee Morning The people of Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire certainly like their coffee The small Justice and Peace Group at St Joseph s Church has been raising money for Let The Children Live for the past 3 years and has in total raised 5 116 from just 3 events In 2011 a coffee morning raised 1 300 In 2012 a fashion show raised 1 062 and in May this year another coffee morning raised the mighty sum of 2 754 If that sounds like a lot of coffee well it wasn t just coffee that brought in all that money There was tea too and I understand that gallons of both beverages were drunk And there were lots of home made cakes a raffle and some very generous donations George McAleenan who has visited the charity s work in Colombia several times was also there and gave a moving Presentation about the work and so enthusiastic are the members of the Justice and Peace Group that they have decided to continue supporting our work in the streets and shanty towns of Colombia Many thanks to all involved in this venture and particularly to Mary and Drew Williamson Your support is greatly appreciated not least by our children in Medellín Will you think about organising a Coffee Morning for us Posted in Updates No Comments Beat This The students of year 11 at English Martyrs Catholic School in Leicester have set their year

  • Enjoy fundraising!
    The parish of St Bernadette s Erskine decided to hold a concert to raise funds for Let The Children Live so beginning in October 2013 a group of them met each Tuesday evening in order to plan and practice They wanted to involve as many parishioners as possible including young people from their Youth Cafe and local Caritas Award Group and much enjoyment was had by all By December 21st the date of the concert they were ready The first part of the concert was centred on the charity and a Powerpoint Presentation was given showing our children in Colombia whilst the concert group sang Beauty for Brokeness Two more carols followed and then everyone lit candles whilst John Rutter s Candlelight Carol was played The scene thus set there followed I Dreamed a Dream by a teenage parishioner plus O Holy Night and Born in the Night by two adult soloists In addition the young granddaughter of a parishioner did her ballet interpretation of Eva Cassidy singing Fields of Gold The final part of the concert was given over to audience participation with a sing a long that involved various Carols and Christmas songs AND a very energetic version
