    through the low pressure force main pipe on your property to the low pressure force main in the public right of way Ultimately wastewater is transmitted to the LRD s regional wastewater treatment facility hide Your toilet is not a trash can Please do not flush the following Paper towels or disposable cleaning rags Grease or cooking oil Diapers or feminine hygiene products Medication or cat litter Dental floss Cigarette butts Coffee grounds egg shells or bones Plastic rubber or glass of any kind Cloth of any kind If your LPSS system is damaged through negligence you will be charged for time and materials needed to make repairs You must provide access to LRD staff so we can perform routine preventative maintenance If your property is gated please provide access information to the Loxahatchee River District Operations Department at 561 747 5709 Do not plant trees or shrubs within ten feet of the LPSS to minimize the potential of roots infiltrating the system and blocking the flow of wastewater from your home Do not allow vehicles or heavy machinery to drive over or near any of the LPSS features hide Red Alarm Light If you notice the red light and or alarm on a low pressure sewer system please notify the LRD immediately by calling 561 747 5708 This phone line is monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week hide Maintenance Approximately every six months a LRD employee will perform routine and or preventative maintenance on the LPSS if you have executed a Maintenance Agreement with LRD If you see something out of the ordinary or in need of repair please call 561 747 5709 and inform our customer service representative hide Loss of Power Please limit indoor water use during a prolonged power outage If your home

    The Florida fiddlewood is a species of flowering plant that is native to southern Florida in the United States the Caribbean Guyana Suriname and Venezuela The wood from this tree is widely used for musical instrument making especially in the West Indies It is very hard heavy and strong the sapwood is light brown and thin and the heartwood is orange to red It has a lovely grain and a beautiful glow when polished It is especially prized for violins and guitars The wood is exceptionally good for woodturning It works well when wet but when dry it will sometimes check It has other uses cabinet work general building construction and even in Puerto Rico for fence posts Saw Palmetto Serenoa repens A species of shrub with a sprawling trunk that grows in clumps or dense thickets in sandy coastal lands or as undergrowth in pine woods or hardwood hammocks Saw palmetto is a fan palm with the leaves that have a bare petiole terminating in a rounded fan of about 20 leaflets The petiole is armed with fine sharp teeth or spines that give the species its common name The flowers are yellowish white about 5 mm across produced in dense compound panicles up to 60 cm long The fruit is a large reddish black drupe and is an important food source for wildlife and historically for humans The fruits of the saw palmetto are highly enriched with fatty acids and phytosterols and extracts of the fruits have been the subject of intensive research for the symptomatic treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia BPH Wild Coffee Psychotria nervosa Wild coffee is a native shrub to Florida that grows in the higher areas of swamps as well as in hammocks It also likes limestone soil that has a high alkaline content Wild Coffee varies in shape and size depending on how much sun it gets The small white flowers it produces in spring and summer have a smell similar to that of the gardenia This attracts many butterflies and honeybees which aid in pollination By fall the plant produces many small berries each with two seeds The seeds are an important food source for cardinals mockingbirds bluejays and other birds The berries or beans have a similar shape to a commercial coffee bean with one side being round and the other being flat with a groove The beans of the wild coffee were once widely used as an alternative to conventional coffee despite the fact that the beans contain no caffeine American Beautyberry Callicarpa americana An open habit native shrub of the Southern United States which is often grown as an ornament in gardens and yards The raw berries while palatably sweet are suitable for human consumption only in small amounts because they are astringent they are also used in jellies The roots can also be used to make herbal tea As a folk remedy it has been claimed that fresh crushed leaves of American beautyberry Callicarpa americana helped keep biting

  • Community Turns Out to Celebrate River Center's 4th Birthday
    live animals and more The Loxahatchee River District provided an array of kids activities including bounce houses face painting eco awareness games fun crafts and a water play area Jupiter Outdoor Center offered free kayak and stand up paddleboard demos along the water Busch Wildlife Sanctuary was also there will a number of animals and Keep Flippin Gymnastics and Purple Dragon karate delighted guests with shows throughout the day The event also featured an exclusive screening of This Is Your Ocean Sharks a fascinating film that explores the behavior of the mysterious predators Jim Abernethy founder of Scuba Adventures and one of the films creators introduced the film and guests had a chance to win a copy of the DVD Special literary guests included Professor Clark the Science Shark and Karen Lamberson creator of the popular children s book series Copies of Professor Clark the Science Shark were available for signing by the authors and kids followed along with book readings throughout the event Refreshments were provided by Royal Café and savory seafood by Sharkbite Grille along with a volunteer bake sale Proceeds benefited the River Center The event was free for all ages with the exception of vendor items that were sold Raffle items included a 250 membership to Jupiter Pointe Paddling a Sea Tow Membership and local gift certificates The River Center is located in Burt Reynolds Park at 805 N US Highway 1 in Jupiter Created in 2008 by the Loxahatchee River District to facilitate environmental education the center features numerous fresh and saltwater aquariums interactive exhibits and a touch tank where kids and families get up close and personal with local marine life For more information about the River Center call 561 743 7123 or email RiverCenter Loxahatcheeriver org top of page Photo Gallery Latest photos
