  • Charter of the Marxists Internet Archive
allow MIA to be controlled a part of or affiliated with any political party coalition or group To ensure that MIA remains independent from the bottom up volunteers of the same political party coalition or group cannot make up more than a limited percentage of any actual vote as outlined in the Bylaws regardless how many volunteers of that political party coalition or group participate in the vote Our priority is to provide Archival Information The Marxist Writers Archive composed of authors who are not living contains material written only by the authors themselves with the exception of biographies on writers which mainly contain primary sources but may also include well researched works The Encyclopedia of Marxism contains factual material while it also employs quotes and direct links to marxist analysis in the Writers Archive and when necessary provides a foundation of marxist analysis to make facts comprehensible and to ensure a contemporary rendering The History Archive focuses on primary sources but it may contain and link to past or contemporary analysis by Marxists and other writers When a history archive chooses to include analysis such material should be clearly differentiated from primary sources and other purely factual or statistical material The Subject Archive serves to present the relevance of certain concepts to Marxism through the use of a variety of Marxist and Reference writers and sources How the MIA decides the placement of writers in either the Marxist or reference archives 1 Being a communist means working for the self emancipation of the working class it means striving to unite the working class in all its diversity in the struggle to overthrow capitalism In the 1840s Marx and Engels placed communism on a scientific footing through the theory of dialectical materialism Marxists are those who have continued this ever

  • How to Transcribe documents
with a document feeder can be as quick as a 2 hour process To accomplish this follow these steps A Rip the cover off the book B Books are bound together differently typically a book is bound into small packets Thus in a 500 page book you may see 10 little packets One by one gently separate these from the glue that holds all the packets together C Next use scissors or a cutting board with each separate packet to separate the pages from each other D When you take these to the scanner put in no more than one packet at a time Jams or the feeder taking two pages instead of one is fairly common so shuffling through the papers giving them so wear will help keep this from happening As frustrating as jams may be this process ends up being ALOT faster Step 2 HTML Labour Time 1 minute per 4 pages Requirements Text editor or HTML authoring program Please read the detailed instructions on HTML work Here you ll place special tags on works quoted emphasis bold italic various headings H1 H2 etc tables and footnotes The conversion to HTML on a 500 page document takes around 4 hours if you are doing it by hand If you use the perl script we have it will take about 5 minutes with the script and maybe 30 minutes for some touching up Some helpful tips are to use the find and replace feature as intelligently as you can and learning things like regular expressions can be a huge time saver It is healthy too save your hands from all that typing Step 3 Proofread Labour Time 1 5 minutes per page Requirements Spell checker patience patience patience This is the most time consuming step Alot of it

  • How to make HTML Files: by Andy Blunden 2008
no paragraphs no headings just one long line To make it look like it is supposed to look you have to format it for HTML Currently you are previewing the document Open the document using the browser s Notepad View Menu Source Here you see the document as a plain text document with paragraphs visible At the beginning of each paragraph insert p and then Save it Now go back to the preview window and Refresh You should now see the document with paragraphing If not please find out what you did wrong before continuing Now in the source code pick a word to put into italics You do this by putting i before the word and i after it Save it and then refresh the preview window Pick one of the lines which was a heading and enclose it between h1 and h1 Save and see how this makes a heading Basic Structure of HTML documents Now you are reading this document on your browser You can t edit it because it is on the server Look at the source and you will see that the document has a DOCTYPE line at the top You can ignore this Then the whole document is enclosed between html and html and within this there are two parts of the document the header enclosed between head and head and the body of the document enclosed between body and body The header provides certain important information about the document meta http equiv content type content text html charset iso 8859 1 tells the browser that the document uses ordinary western European characters link rel stylesheet type text css href css works css tells the browser where to get instructions about how to present the various styles in the document namely http www marxists

  • Converting Word to HTML
expensive software Sally Tidy does a good job of fixing bad MS HTML Also OpenOffice seems to be able to open many MS documents and although it s save as HTML is also fairly crap at least it s free Chris 1 http tidy sf net 2 http wwww openoffice org I never use word anymore too many of these kinds of headaches But Abiword appears to give a good clean html ouput from a doc or rtf file http www abiword com Chris HoT MetaL Pro is a great choice too Unfortunately it is a quite expensive tool It s current version is 6 0 3 but even 4 0 which I recieved as a freebie in a Norwegian computer magazine works fine I ve tried Open Office too but I like HoT MetaL better A trial version 30 days is possible to download from www hotmetalpro com though Mathais I do it always in a quite simple manner 1 Run M Word and save to the memo whole text 2 Run M WordPad and paste and another once cut 3 Run M FrontPage and paste That s all This allows me to save any italics and bold that originally were in the text Besides that I like FpontPage as the transformation to MIA CSS goes soothly there and it doesn t add any rubbish HTML tags does it Greetings Wojtek Oh yes I had a hell of a time with frontpage awhile back Everything looks ok if you don t venture outside of microsoft reality but once you do your world falls apart The problem being that if one is not careful creating a page with frontpage to view it properly is contingent on having word installed I would get all the word crap out and frontpage would
