writer s work in a subject history section for any length of time does not help or hinder that writer s placement in Marxist v Reference Archives For more details on this process see 4 Secretarial Committee D Library and Marxist Writers 1 Article 6 of the MIA Charter specifically lists among the archives maintained on the MIA a Marxist Writers archive Reference writers are also mentioned and the procedure for differetiating these from Marxist writers is set forth in Article 7 but there is no specific mention of a Reference writers archive or index Given the preceding we conclude that a Reference Writers index is not specifically mandated by the Charter whereas a Marxist Writers index is mandated 2 Language sections of the MIA can satisfy the Charter requirement that there be a Marxist Writers index by either of two means a The maintenance of an index of all writers who have been listed as Marxist by the MIA for whom there are works archived in the given language b An index of Selected Marxist Writers 3 In order to serve students and workers by presenting content in a way that makes sense without presuming a prior level of knowledge among our readers in accordance with Article 7 of the Charter all language sections of the MIA are to move from the binary presentation of a Marxists and Reference index to a unified Library style of index similar to that established for the English language section by the September 2007 decision and following the same categorization scheme E Selected Marxist Writers 1 A Selected Marxist Writers Index may be used by any language section of the MIA to satisfy the MIA Charter Article 6 requirement that there be a Marxist Writers index 2 All language sections are free to opt for any selection of writers whom their administrators and volunteers choose with the aim of educating and guiding our readers as to the key theoretical and practical points of our movement provided that the following are adhered to a Any writer selected must have been classed as Marxist by the MIA collective b While limited in size no more than 25 authors the list should be wide ranging in scope include writers that made significant contributions in the given language or region and so far as possible reflect ethnic and gender balance c The list must include only writers for whom we have an archive of a reasonable size in the given language Simply linking to archives in another language when a writer is not available in the given language is not satisfactory d Any selected writer s archive must at minimum include works that reflect that writer s significance to Marxism and the reasons she has been selected e Any selected writer must not have been the iconic leader of any currently existing and active tendency or party Of course members or founders of very general or wide ranging currents are permissible 3 Administrative Committee A Responsibilities These

our Writing guidelines for the Encyclopedia Convert Books to Ebook Format Converting to HTML documents on marxists org to PRC ePub mobi ODT or pdf formats is an activity which can be done by part time volunteers who have an interest in these formats See eBook Production Guidelines for further information Print Books DVDs or Mirror for distribution The vast majority of people in the world cannot access the Internet or electronic editions of this material With these works digitized and entirely free you are welcome and encouraged to distribute this material in whatever ways you choose for workers who don t have access We have a couple of suggestions of what you can do but distribute how you want in what ways you want all this material is protected by the Free Documentation License so be sure to read the license so you know how you must keep this material free for all Setup your own print shop The simplest but effective way of doing this is with a regular desktop printer Print out acouple documents then take them to a copy machine at your work place school or local library use double sided prints if possible to save paper and make duplicates Print information of your choosing and sell or give the material to bookstores distribute them in your union hall or political organization put the literature in your local libraries schools and or carry it with you to the local picket line or protest If you live outside the European Union Japan and North America and you d like to help distribute a tangible but still digital version of Marxist Information help distribute the MIA DVD in your neighborhood or city The DVD helps the information of the Marxists Internet Archive reach those without internet access while providing nearly all the material that can be found on the internet site and it makes access to information easier for regular readers The DVD also helps to ensure that when the government closes down our public archives we ll have this information safely stored and saved in DVDs around the world thus any person who has the DVD could setup a guerilla server with the full content available Finally sales from the DVD go to paying production costs and our ISP costs allowing us to keep the archives online we are a fully non profit organization so any excess money gets put back into more DVDs given out for free As a distributor you can produce and mail or handout DVDs to local libraries book stores members in your union friends family etc Spread the joy We love to multiply our Marxist archive throughout cyberspace we rest much easier knowing these works are thoroughly distributed in digital networks around the world Mirroring or just making a backup the entire site takes over 1 GB If you are interested feel free to copy away We have rsync setup and openly accessible to all If you need instructions on how to
