ahead of yours to fix and they did I could see them and they wouldn t paint it for me either So I got a number from the OLD Schwinn dealer here in town but he only works when he wants to because he is probably as old as my bike And when I called him there was no answer BUT the guys at the first bike shop said if anyone would have old parts it would be Jim So after the Holiday I will try again to get hold of him In the mean time I found another Bike shop who will do my repairs in a week and a half but won t paint it and won t have the fenders I need either Hopefully between Jim and myself we will be able to restore it I am not opposed to sanding off rust and repainting I have decided that Loleta will be RED when I get done with her because after all I am The Lady In Red In this case The Lady On Red LOL So I am a little discouraged but not disheartened because my Mamma always told me that Where there is a will there is a way and I believe that Pictures will have to wait until Loleta is fixed but you ll all get to ride this adventure out with me On a sad note we had to take our oldest Dog Sterling 8 1 2 yrs to the Vet this morning to be put down because he has bitten two people in less than a month He has always had an aggressive nature but had never bitten anyone before He actually broke his leather collar in half lunging at a friend of ours here in the complex and tried to bite her four times and got her once My husband and I were so shook up and so was our friend who got bit obviously So last night we made the really tough decision and this morning my husband took him in I feel so badly for my husband because Sterling was his dog Sterling is a one person dog so you could never adopt him out or give him away He is even aggressive towards children and other animals It still has been heart wrenching Bella my three yr old Shi Tzu has been looking for her buddy all day and can t figure out where he has gone Anyway to top it all off it cost 150 00 to have him put down and since he bit someone they have to quarantine him for 10 days first to make sure he doesn t have rabies which is a state law but our Vet has given him all his shots since forever and we keep our dogs up on all their shots and vet visits And we have to pay additional 200 00 to board him for those 10 days but that is a discounted cost because we had just taken both dogs to the Vet yesterday before Sterling bit our friend and paid out 160 00 for Vet Care So in two days we are out 510 00 one family pet and have a friend that will freak out when she finds out we had him put down She will blame herself and go in to depression she is bi polar So please keep my little household in your prayers this week We would really appreciate it I can t wait for Church in the morning believe me Blessings peggy Lady In Red http ladyinredsite blogspot com A SMILE Should Be A Woman s First Accessory Then Her Purse Shoes and Bling p smith HealingTouch True Blue Farmgirl 1137 Posts Darlene Kunkletown Pa USA 1137 Posts Posted Jul 04 2010 04 16 13 AM Oh Peggy I am so sad for you I have had to grieve the the loss of pets also I had a Boston Bulldog that was old and died in my arms and 16 mo later our Rottweiler also died in my arms He had cancer and we gave him chemo never again and was only 5 I was away on a cruise with my mother and sisters and when I left my beagle Rocky was fine and while I was gone he had to be put down to the cost of over 3 ooo to try and save him 1st It s heartbreaking because they become our kids We raise beagles and I have the sweetest 10yo Jackie my constant companion and sidekick Everytime I think how old she is I freek out thinking about losing her Again know how very sorry I am for your loss to you both Try to go on ebay and see if you can find parts for Loleta if no one else has them Blessings Darlene kittykill True Blue Farmgirl 608 Posts Pam Portland or USA 608 Posts Posted Jul 04 2010 07 24 14 AM Peg I am so sorry about your dog I had to do that with my Staffie Great Dane mix She had been on doggy probation with the city and then got aggressive toward other dogs in the house It was my roommate s dog but I had lived with her the majority of her life so she felt like mine Lots of prayers coming your way There are so many bike shops in Portland there is actually one down the street from my house that restores old ones Mark had gotten me a banana seat bike when we were first dating and had to get parts for it so don t despair there are a lot of places our there across the river I ll ask Mark the name of the person he used www fasterkittykill blogspot com knittinchick True Blue Farmgirl 1854 Posts Megan Wisconsin 1854 Posts Posted Jul 04 2010 12 40 23 PM Peggy I m so sorry about your dog I can t even imagine having to go

to read 6 pages to get caught up on the week Our vacation was fun My side of the family has been having reunions since the 1950s My dad was one of 10 kids and I have over 60 first cousins It used to be that everyone came to the annual reunion Now there are just 2 of the 10 original generation left alive This year only 5 families were represented and at that by only one family member for some I wonder if the annual reunion will continue after the 2 aunts pass away The other reunion was my husband s siblings and their families We have all been getting together for a week at a rented camp on the St Lawrence River for 10 years It is a good thing that we all love and like each other Only one nephew who lives in California couldn t make it this year The cousins are all very close Each family has to make dinner and clean up one time for the whole gang during the week The men cook breakfast and lunch is whatever people want to eat on their own The card games go into the wee hours of the night Fishing cards picture puzzles good books good food great family chasing kids the beach hiking bicycling naps And Quelph What a fun game The whole gang ages 15 75 stay up all night playing and laughing hysterically We don t start it until the younger kids have gone to sleep because no one wants to stop playing to tuck them in Karrieann I love the katydids When I hear them I close my eyes Xmas is that everyone turns up gifts of any form are optional Xmas is always at my house as its the biggest but I wouldn t want anyone there who didn t want to be there would not want anyone to struggle to buy gifts they couldn t afford but also would not want anyone to feel under pressure to make gifts when that would be a struggle for them as well Lida sometimes I wish my family lived season celebrations and observances in June In early June I close my office door put on a Christmas music CD and peruse Christmas websites to get into the mood for planning Christmas festivities before it is even officially summertime We give homemade and purchased gifts to our children their spouses and the grandkids Also everyone gets a 10 gift card through a game that we play noone knows which card they will end up with and bartering after the game is permitted The addition of spouses and grandkids started to really break the bank Last Christmas the kids asked us to not buy them gifts but to give memories instead So this year between Christmas and New Years we are renting a cabin in the Adirondack Mountains for our family We will only stuff stockngs and do the gift card exchange game The rest of the Christmas account will make memories in the mountans Our son leaves for Navy bootcamp in February so this may be the last time we will all be together for Christmas for a while It is very hot and humid here The temps the past 2 days has been in the 90s and only slightly cooler in the night We don t have air conditioning so sleeping is difficult It is too hot to cook Last night we had dinner from the garden a salad of buttercrunch lettuce kale spinach chard and radishes Sue All of my children live within a 60 mile radius of us The one who lives furthest away is moving back LadyInRed True Blue Farmgirl 5247 Posts PeggyAnn Vancouver WA USA 5247 Posts Posted Jul 10 2010 08 01 57 AM Oh Dana I am so very very sorry about you Dad A part of you did die You will grieve for a very long time but that is to be expected And life does suck when you loose someone that close to you You will cry you will laugh at the good memories you will get angry you will think you have cried every last drop of fluid your body could be holding but then you ll cry some more and when you least expect to You will go through the what if s the could have s should have s would have s and you will cry out to God Why Why do all the good people die to young and all the mean and evil people seem to live to a very old age Then you ll get mad again because he left you before you were ready for him too and because now the kids won t have their grandpa any longer and on and on and on And you must allow each and every step of this very difficult grieving process because it is what allows you to come out whole and healed at the other end of the tunnel Some days you will see the light at the end of the tunnel but all too soon you will realize it is a Freight Train ready to run you over again Eventually it will become the light of peace and hope and acceptance and you will finally be able to put LIFE and Death into perspective And life will grow more and more precious to you because you have dealt with the realities of death If I sound like a Counselor it is because I was a Woman s Counselor for years Do I think I have all the answers to life figured out NO But I have been in your shoes I lost my dad almost 9 yrs ago now but it seems like only yesterday He had five heart attacks in one week and he was only 69 Way too young He was the best dad in the world and my kids only grandfather It was hard and I got flattened by that Freight Train several times before the light at the end of the tunnel was merely the signal that my journey of grieving was over I will be praying for you and all your loved ones at this most difficult time Keep remembering all that was loving and precious about Him and cry every chance you get Tears are liquid prayers and God s way of washing for me to help families and their loved one enter their next realm If I can hold someone s hand brush their brow rub their back cry with them pray with them medicate them to ease their pain breathing or swallowing difficulties or what ever I can do is what I ll do to love them through it The most difficult time was in 2007 for my dear Mother She was visiting my sister and had a massive stroke She was admitted to ICU I got the call while at work Although she was a DNR with a living will it was a constant attempt to do more and more tests Before I got there I kept getting calls from my sister they want to do this or that I reminded my sister about her paperwork and to abide by them 3 older sisters couldn t and wouldn t make any decisions My Mother continually made me promise to obey her wishes I agreed and reassured her often Well the time had come 1st time I saw Mother she recognized me but couldn t speak anymore I assured her I would take her home to her house and care for her She shook her head yes She did not want to go to a nursing home Enter Doctor who wanted to do tests etc Answer from me was Will this benefit her or you The answer is you so the answer is NO Now I want her to be comfortable with Roxanol for pain and Levsin for swallowing difficulties as well as an order for something to help her breathing Long story short MD only ordered 1 dose Had to threaten to go above the MD if she wasn t dealt with in a compassionate and competant way as spelled out in her Living Will She was then moved to a neuro floor and given the meds that I requested and what I give my own patients She drifted into a coma I took lotion perfume and bath gel and said to my 1 sister that we would make her feel good before she went to heaven So we bathed her washed her hair lotioned her perfumed her and dressed her in a nightie and positioned her so she looked comfortable All the while loving and talking to her I said It s ok Mother now you can go meet Pap My sister and I left when our 2 other sisters came for their shift That was the last time I saw my mother alive but I knew as hard as it was that I honored her wishes and I can live with that As special as it is when there is a birth it is equally important and special to love someone out of their life Praise God for his Blessings What I have to say to everyone is have your papers in order and make sure someone will be there to see that your wishes are honored Dana I know it s soooo difficult for you so just feel our love and prayers to love you through this Blessings Darlene Lin True Blue Farmgirl 807 Posts Lin but I always return to that tried and true favorite Our youngest Son bought his dad a Tropicanna Plant in memory of my hubbies dog Sterling You can grow them in a container or in the garden They have beautiful big leaves that are multi hued and then a very brilliant tangerine orange flower They grow to be about 6 feet tall in the flower beds but 2 3ft in containers There were about 6 good starts in the Pot that our son bought so I went out this morning in the coolness of the day and planted five of them outside the bedroom window and then I put one in a pretty container for my hubby to set on his desk at work He always called Sterling his Angel Dog though Sterling s Halo was always slipping LOL so I put a tiny garden angel in the pot too For those of you who have never thought about it planting a living plant rose bush or tree in memory of someone or a family pet is very therapeutic My husband and I always recommended that in our years of Counseling Practice So it was neat to see 2010 04 44 20 AM I am glad that we all had a great weekend Yesterday was church and then the rest of the day with DH and 2 of our DDs and granddaughter at a local amusement park The weather was perfect and we all had a great day It was such a blessing to see my 20 y o and 15 y o laughing together and enjoying each other s company they don t always have days like that Our 2 1 2 y o DGD had a hoot of a time This was her first trip to an amusement park and she made the most of it I should have worn a pedometer to keep track of how far she made us walk Her mom called at 10 30 last night to say that she was talking non stop about her day and telling them all sorts of stories Precious memories Marla I have never had watermelon pickles Are they a sweet pickle Maybe we should invite our DHs to the porch for an evening of conversation about why we do what we do My DH also wonders why I invest so much of my limited time in gardening and preserving naturally grown nourishing foods when I can get food at the grocery store My reasons are the same as yours He is also mystified about why I make quilts from old clothing buy out of print theology books have a gazillion different spices herbs and prefer old cast iron cooking pans over newer stuff Angela If your new baking center includes whole wheat rye graham flours you should consider storing them in the freezer or fridge while it is so hot They can go rancid quickly in this weather Will you please pass me one of your butternut squash muffin We have many great farmer s markets here There is a large one with over 100 farmer s represented near downtown Rochester as well as several smaller ones in local communities The large downtown one is open year round and the vendors bring portable heaters to heat their tents and selling space in the winter Saturday I saw some ladies selling their homemade soaps but I didn t have enough time to chat with them I ll catch up with them next trip Megan you have great goals and a
