was eight of us after all and it was yummy food and great company Then we all either went out to more dinners or like Larry and I just went home and took a nice nap This morning my husband woke me up at four am when he fell out of bed having a bad dream so since I was awake I decided to throw on my jeans a t shirt and boots and rain gear and go walk over to our Local Fred Meyers Store for their 5 00 am Black Friday Opening I have never shopped Black Friday before I have worked plenty of them over the years I grabbed a Starbucks coffee and a shopping basket and had fun with the Crowd Of People doing the same thing Fred Meyers always has a 50 off Sock Sale on Black Friday so I got my hubby and I some of those as we both like their Gold Toe socks that are spendy but I can t tell you how many women I saw with shopping carts full of socks Wow I wouldn t even know that many people I hope they were buying them for Charities or something wonderful like that I had fun meandering around and getting into the Holiday Frenzy I mean spirit LOL I got about half of my list covered in that one store and then walked back home and went to bed Later my hubby and I went to a few more places It was a first for me doing BLACK Friday Now I can say I have contributed to our Nations Economy by spending money on this day Hope you all had a Stupendous Day and that the rest of your Holiday Weekend is straight for us By the end of the year we will all have the same ornaments for Our Porchie Christmas Tree We can start it in January or now if you want Making and sending 1 ornament a month won t break the bank either What do we say sisters I have been somewhat disappointed with some of the swaps outside the porch Some people don t respond to receiving the swap items or the swap itself I pretty much am done with the outside swaps except for the quilt blocks which are gorgeous I took myself off the RAOK list because I m not going to send things and not be told if they arrived I received beautiful things and acknowledge them Anyone else have similar issues It took me hours to make a Christmas stocking and still no word That s why I d rather do it for one of my Porch Sisters think I want to do an ornament a month myself but I loved the homemade swaps for each Holiday or one swap a month for something but let s keep it interesting Not repetitious like 12 Christmas ornaments unless we made a Friendship Tree where we each bought whatever kind of little tree we wanted that would stay up all year Like you see them do for Halloween or Easter and then we could do a different seasonal ornament for each month but it hangs on your tree all year long Are you getting my drift here Like maybe January could be a Snowman ornament Feb a Heart ornament March Something to do with Wind like a Kite ornament April maybe a Watering Can May a Flower June something Beach Related July Fourth of July related Aug something to do with Gardens anyway you get the idea What do you think about that Plus maybe Miss Pam could head up some kind of Embroidery Project that could even tie in with the ornaments or just a separate project all together I even like the idea of doing a silver heart charm bracelet with charms from all my Porchies That would be very special Those are just a few of my ideas Angela glad that you are doing better Just don t over do girl Your Porch Mother I could trade for a blueberry pie or some cookies We were accepted for some christmas assistance for our girls so we have 2 gifts for each of them and I m itchin to get them wrapped and in the livin room My mom gave us some extra lights they had so we can decorate the big 20 foot pine in our front yard It s somethin the girls have wanted to do for the last couple of years Even when this was just grammy and pops house they wanted to see that tree with lights on it This year we have the lights I just have to find the big extension cord My DH was diggin in the storage room for the christmas decorations last night and found a whole rubbermaid tub of brand new decorations We had both forgot about our weeks long search through the clearance racks last year to get matchin ornaments and some new stuff to put up in the house Someone stole our decorations just before christmas last year and we made paper chains and used anything we could find in the craft cabinet to put on the tree Our gift to each other last year was the new decorations in the colors we really wanted We went with blues and white with silver trim The only thing I don t have are the plastic twirlies for the front porch I loved those things They were just silly plastic strips that were twisted on little strings but they used to hang on my moms porch when I was little They haven t made those things since the 70 s I m gonna try to buy up the summertime kind in blues and whites next year and put them back for next christmas Mine were skinny 1 2 inch strips but the wider summertime ones are better than nothin I think I m gonna dig through the box and see what I can find to put up thats not goin on the tree I left coffee and some of the sample candy batches for everyone The chocolate covered craisins are a new thing this year Let me know what you girls think I was thinkin of addin them to my list permanently I love them Farmgirl Sister 1438 God Gardening Family Is anything else important Edited by natesgirl vent a minute I think you ll remember my sharing about the Smoking Shack that they built right by my bed room window Well OK I don t like it at all but I have been trying to maintain a good attitude and not let it keep me worked up and fretting BUT my little dog Bella can t rationalize all this like I can Having all the extra foot traffic past our Apartment door everyday and having people right outside our window chatting and laughing is freaking her out So she is continually barking which I am working with her to calm down but for the last two weeks whenever I leave her I come back and she has done something destructive Like Scratching paint off the walls in two separate places or crashing through the barrier I put up to keep her in the back of the Apartment so she doesn t stand at the front door barking at everyone who passes by while I am gone Then last night my DH and I came back after a couple hours running errands and she had scratched a hole clear through the carpeting UGH She is three and I have had her since she was 7 weeks old She is not normally destructive I don t know what to do with her but she is going to destroy this Apartment I hate to have to Kennel her because she hates being caged up but I think I have no recourse but to do that Do any of you have any suggestions I also don t want to be kicked out of here because she is misbehaving albeit very badly My youngest son Manages another Property Management Company so I can get his people to come in and fix the walls and carpet for less than my Apartment company would but that is beside the point I need to him to the Dr and the doctor not only scolded him very harshly but then he pulls out this mega huge stapler and starts stapling his scull back together I thought I was going to pass out watching him But I guess having them removed was much easier than having them put in But by then his mother got to deal with that part I liked your Story too Do you know why Christian Crosses are different from Catholic Crucifixes Christian Crosses don t leave Jesus on the Cross because we know that he was buried and and rose again in Three Days from the grave and ascended back to Heaven So We Christians don t leave him on the cross but we wear the cross as a reminder of his death for our salvation Staci hope you enjoyed all that snow I love that we get a just enough snow here that we can enjoy it for about a week maybe two at the most and then it is gone I lived in snow too many years where it could be on the ground for 5 months out of the year Too much Winter Wonderland for my liking We are getting record rain this weekend Starting to have flooding in various areas That isn t great fun either but it goes away faster than the snow Darlene can t wait to see the lovelies that you made for us on the ornament exchange Come on gals we need more of you to participate to make this really happen It doesn t have to be a complex ornament You are all so talented I know you can come up with something fun for everyone and easy on yourself So come make it an even 12 month sign up You will be glad that you did Darlen Darlene I am so sorry that your husband says such ugly stuff to you and threatens to do mean things just out of spite and orneriness Some men are such Control Freaks it gives them a feeling of power over their women But really it is their own sense of insecurities manifesting themselves in a horrible way I am always reminded of the story of King David Abigail and Nabal in 1 Samuel 25 Abigail put up with a lot from a very stubborn pig headed man her husband Nabal but she was a wise and godly woman and God blessed her in the end for her faithfulness and tenacity in the midst of such awful adversity My prayer is that you will be richly blessed also Tonight I went and bought a new dog kennel for my Bella As I came home last night and found a matching hole in my carpet Pam gave me the name of an all natural tincture that I am going to try on her also to calm her down when we leave Well I am ready to go read and wind down from a rather stressful day I have had to take extra medication to calm myself down over my dog situation I love everything in my home nice and neat and pretty so this thing with my dog is pushing me to the edge I love her to pieces but did consider strongly today whether I could live without her or not but every time I looked at her sweet face and eyes and she has the sweetest personality there is no way I can get rid of her It was like considering giving away one of your children because they behaved badly a couple of days out of their little lives I DON T THINK SO Goodnight my wonderful friends what would we do without each other I don t ever want to find out either Christmas Blessings peggy Farmgirl 1326 http somewhere if they haven t already saying something about the noise level What jerks I hope you are doing better today I m thinking about you sweetie Today has been a little trying in the dog department for us too Pete snipped at one of my friends He has never done that He barks but never bites Then he was chasing a squirrel in our backyard and fell into the pond It was a good thing I was out there because otherwise I m not sure he would make it We have rocks around the pond so he couldn t get out He was wet cold and stinky We gave him a bath It s a good thing that dog is cute I m almost finished baking I made marshmallows today They are so cool I didn t make the gumdrops because of the Pete incident maybe tomorrow www fasterkittykill blogspot com LadyInRed True Blue Farmgirl Jesus was heart touching I knew you would understand how God speaks to me through children because anyone who calls her class of kids her Butterflies has a deep and keen appreciation for how special they are And God speaks to the hearts of adults through them continually You have to just be attuned to it And I know you are Theresa good to have you back on the Porch Yes those cookies were such a hit I made some more for my hubby to take in to work tomorrow Thanks for signing up for the Swap also Pam Oh my your poor baby could have drowned I am so glad that you were out there to rescue him They really are just like raising children In fact I tell all newly married couples who think they want kids right away to get a dog first It will give them a good idea what having a baby will be like Breaks them in a little more gently and gradually for children lol I have never made home made marshmallows but I think they look beautiful and I hear they taste way better than what you would get in the store Never made gumdrops either Sounds good though Do you do a lot of different flavors Does Mark like to cook too Or just eat the goodies OK off to my book Blessings peggy Farmgirl 1326 http day when all is well Well all isn t well but it is still a perfect day I had a planned vacation day today intended to clean bake and make a Christmas stocking for my granddaughter Those were my intentions Instead I spent the morning cuddling a sick 8 month old granddaughter while her mom and dad worked How perfect that I was available when they needed me She sat on my hip and watched while I made a batch of cookies then started to fuss a bit I lit the fireplace gas put on a jazz Christmas CD and gently danced her to sleep Then I stood looking out my front window at the snow swirling around and holding her while she had a cuddly much needed nap Like I said a perfect day A baby to cuddle the smell of cookies baking the fireplace burning and Christmas music in the background I hope that I am not biting off more than I can chew but sign me up for the ornament exchange I would like May please Simple is okay right Peggy What does the complex management say about the smoking shack concerns can they move it to outside the office location Tammy It is cold here too 14 degrees and snowing Chili sounds great I have a pot of stroganoff simmering Your little butterfly Christmas story
