Dec 28 2015 1 36 13 PM Good rainy afternoon from my porch here in Pelham Tennessee The cats have found places behind the rockers on the porch to cuddle while the rain just seems to be socked in around us for awhile The lights still shine on the dinner bell pole out front and adds a bit of cheer to an otherwise dreary sort of day We returned last evening from our Christmas week trip to Myrtle Beach SC Christmas Eve and day was filled with long walks along the beach front people watching and kites flying children playing in the surf horse back riding and general beach games of volley ball and football Our Christmas dinner was at a Calabash buffet where we succeeded in eating the seven fishes tradition twice over This trip was our gift of time that my husband and I decided to give each other We had long talks into the night and early morning chats with coffee on the balcony as well as those beach walks It truly breathed refreshment to our souls As we look forward to the new year we are setting goals to further improve our fitness and health levels This is the year to set the standard that we make habits to sustain us the rest of our lives to be the best we can be Wishing you all s lives are starting to slow down a bit after the holidays and be less hectic After being back to work for a week I m immensely glad I didn t volunteer to work this weekend since I was scheduled off because I needed it Today I m not getting out of my pj s today either It was 14 degrees this morning and I decided with temps that low staying warm and comfy was priority lol It s really odd though how after I started having cycles I could never tolerate the cold but now I relish it although not this cold However I did manage to get most of the cleaning done even while in pj s so I wasn t a total slouch I mentioned Matt got me an easel for Christmas Here it is set up with my rug loom ready for me to start warping it Matt s wanting me to start another rug so he can see how it works for me It s definitely sturdy I ve been watching a local online website and found a popup camper that I may be interested in We ll see No bathroom and I really wanted something with a bathroom Didn t want a popup but it might be a good starter one for us until we get a vehicle that we can pull a fifth wheel which is what we ultimately want The popup is listed at 1300 so it s a pretty good deal and I could make changes without breaking the budget We have so many home improvements we want to do next year or that it s hard to justify paying more and having to get a loan for one right now The popup would actually give us more floor space than most of the hard sided ones we ve looked at in our price range because they don t have slides and for the length that Matt s comfortable towing 22 ft or under I m holding on it because it s about 4 hours from here in Minot and we have no place to store it right now so I m not in a hurry to purchase I ve been looking at Pinterest boards for popup makeovers though and gathering ideas O While I was sorting some of my stuff in my sewing room to organize it before Christmas I found an almost finished baby afghan in baby blue It was perfect as i needed a gift for the baby so I finished it Of course in my hurry I forgot to take pics so Jordon s gf took these they aren t good but you can see the bobble baby afghan I gave him I think I m going to get my chicken started for supper and go knit my socks I m working on now while sipping on a warm cup of tea Supper will be ready about 7 30 if anybody wants to join us Farmgirl Sister 2363 http years ago and they took it out several times but never felt safe in it They had a run in with some wild characters in a Camp Ground and even though my dad always carried a gun he came home and immediately sold the pop up and bought a 24 foot Terry Trailer Ok girls I m tired and I need to think of something to fix for dinner Will chat more later Hugs and smiles Peggy Farmgirl 1326 Dec 2011 Prairie Gypsy True Blue Farmgirl 644 Posts Tammy Jamestown ND USA 644 Posts Posted Jan 11 2016 11 51 46 AM Peggy I grew up living in popups in the summer My mom and SF bought a box popup no wings our first year to see if we d like it and then traded up to a larger unit the following year They put it in a campground closer to where they worked so they wouldn t have to travel so far We ended up moving to the town where they worked after a couple years and then they divorced so my awesome life growing up in a campground screeched to a halt It was awesome while it lasted Most campgrounds now are nothing like the large lots and heavily wooded sites we had back then I do have concerns with a popup if we d be wilderness camping with bears and such and also with the winds here although I do see a lot of people with popups here so maybe that isn t as big of a concern Extremely tired today Woke up at 5 for some reason and couldn t get back to sleep I could really use a nap but don t have time to take one It s cold 8 and snowing lightly so it s perfect nap weather lol Matt went to the post office and said the roads are horrible Doesn t make me want to go into W lmart tonight to work I did make a good lunch though stickey chicken in the crockpot with mashed potoates and gravy I m taking some of the meat to work tonight for my snack supper and then the rest I pulled off and I think I may make chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes later this week or maybe some tortilla soup Hope everybody is having a great day Farmgirl Sister 2363 http ndprairiegypsy blogspot com Etsy PrairieGypsyCrafts Jamestown ND LadyInRed True Blue Farmgirl 5247 Posts PeggyAnn Vancouver WA USA 5247 Posts Posted Jan 11 2016 12 25 58 PM Prairie Tammy you described perfectly the kind of campgrounds my parents use to stay in when they went to Montana Very Woodsy and almost always secluded You get bears and wild people LOL So that is probably why they didn t feel safe My husband had never been camping so about 5 years into our marriage I talked him in to taking the kids and all of us going Tent Camping which is what I grew up doing So we bought all the gear and planned to go for a week to camp in a wooded camp ground that my husband knew about on The Oregon Coast He only knew about it because he grew up on a Farm near there Well we get there and I swear we were the only campers there Now that is an eerie feeling let me tell you The third day we were there this car with three men in it kept cruising around the camp ground my husband got very uncomfortable because he said the men kept starring at me as they drove by our campsite real slowly I was in my late 30 s at the time and my husband was in his late 40 s and being a Pastor and Pastor s wife we Never carried firearms of any kind So the next thing I know is one other family pulled in quite close to where our sight was and 3 or 4 kids come running out and off to explore the area So my husband walks over and talks to the couple and as he comes back I hear the mother call to her kids and then they are loading them back in and pulling out I asked my husband what he said to them and he said he told them about the car load of deviant looking men and told them I didn t think their children would be safe running around with those guys in the camp ground and that we were packing up and leaving as well news to me at the time But I did concur with his gut instinct They were creepy and looked like they were up to no good But after that I could never talk my husband into going camping again Which was a big bummer for the kids and me But hey if a lot of people use Popups in your state you are probably just fine as long as you stay out of Woodsy Camp Grounds Out here that is all we have unless you go to RV sites that seem to be more open and more used Your dinner sounds good I ll be right over It s raining here again I m so tired of it We have been getting several sporadic days of cold and sunny weather which is nice Like yesterday was just beautiful and the day before that so those days I really enjoy and I just bundle up and go for it OK still kind of quiet on The Porch Let s do some Valentine Decorating of our Virtual Porch what do you say I am going to put some big red candles on white candle holders on the Porch railing What do you wish to add Hugs Peggy Farmgirl 1326 Dec 2011 glad to have you join us on the porch I have never heard of a lament so I am going to have to look that one up Sabrina I am not going to be able to explain all the percentages numbers etc but I ll try to explain the best I can basically if he hits 20 years he gets the normal amount of retirement plus disability If he does not hit 20 years he gets one or the other which will only be half the amount The VA is saying he is 90 disabled I don t know how all of it works out but I know with retirement and disability we will be getting less than what we are getting now so if we only get half that we are up the creek with no paddle We also found out that the Army has a special squadron for the guys who are at 17 years or more who are injured so that they can finish to their 20 years rather than kicking them out or medically retiring them I don t understand why the Air Force which is supposedly more family friendly would not have the same Today is a cooler in the 40s compared to our 60s also looks like he she could use a matching blanket Hope Matt s Christmas Party in January was fun I did go on Amazon and checked out what they had for My Fitbit Charger as far as bands go nothing new like you described for your Fitbit Flex but they have Bling for mine if I wanted to dress the band up say you were going out for the Evening or Whatever Right now I like my deep Purple band but later I may get a piece of bling or two like one silver one gold Judy some of those Old Songs are so classic and great to listen to And I agree I love them in a Movie Now you all have me wanting to watch Sleepless In Seattle and You ve Got Mail again for the billionth time Denise what did your sister think of the Ear Warmers for the Calves Just curious if Farmers would really use them or not I think it looks fashionably cute and for a good purpose to boot Debbie sorry to hear that you are sick Hope you feel better soon I had a terrible weekend too but mine was either I pushed myself too hard on the Walking while in Fibro Pain or it was just a forewarning of things to come weather wise I am in less pain today but still above the norm even for a Fibro Girl I had extreme all over body pain and then on top of that All over Nerve Burn It is like somebody takes all your nerve endings and sets them on fire Sat I went out a bit with my son and Elijah shopping and then came home got in my PJ s and stayed there the rest of the weekend Hey My Porch Tea Swappers your packages are going out later today or early tomorrow So give them a few day and start checking your mail boxes You girls who got all the nasty weather over the weekend and the last few weeks your pkgs could be delayed because of the Postal Trucks Planes and Auto Mobiles So don t freak if it takes you longer to get them than the Norm I have a friend who sent me a pkg last Tuesday and I still haven t seen it she is freaking out and I think it is just stuck in a Snow bank somewhere OK I m off to walk the dog then go walking at the Fitness Center and then prepare my Bible Study at Barnes and Noble Cafe My Home Away from Home More later Stay Warm and Read a Good Book or Cook something Yummy Hugs PeggyAnn Farmgirl 1326 Dec Bible Study Group got up in the middle of the night last night feeling sick and vomiting and God said to her in that still small voice Kim you have a mass on your abdomen you need to go to the Hospital Now So she did And it turns out she has two masses and that they are going to remove them at 10 00 Monday Morning complete Hysterectomy along with 3 lymph nodes And they will check her colon breasts and lungs to make sure nothing has spread in those areas too She has no family here but our Bible Study Group so please keep her in prayer Her name is Kim Varnal I went up to the Hospital to see her and pray with her today and she was in Total Peace And she is a gal who has high anxiety issues so her peace was from God She told me I know this is going to be serious but I am at peace about it And when I held her hand to pray with her she was totally calm and relaxed and in good spirits That is Huge But I too think she will have a long ordeal to go through but only God knows for sure and bills So unfortunately it is too late to get in on this years Tea Swap But the End of November I will put the Tea Swap back up for next year so please keep your eyes peeled for it and jump in on day is darn hard But I am giving it all I ve got to try to be healthy enough to enjoy my Grand Kids for as Long as I can If it doesn t stop raining here soon I may have to build an Ark just to get my walking in I could walk inside the Ark and feed the Animals LOL I seem to get between 7 000 to 9 000 steps in a day consistently and have only hit the 10 000 steps once and that was Monday or Tuesday this week But I do find the Fitbit really motivates me Geesh this Training you are doing seems like a major endeavor I would be so bored just sitting there for 8 hours I like jobs where you are always moving doing and have variety in your day Good for you and others for having knitting or crocheting or books or something by your side to do How many more weeks do you have to do the training and do you get a pay raise after they train you on this new stuff I think Walmart would be looking better and better to me LOL Hang in there girl Hopefully it will be worth it in the end I have only had 2 1 2 hours of sleep as I read real late and then hubby woke me up coughing He hasn t been to bed at all This always makes for a really messed up day when we have nights like this I have to teach Bible Study tonight so will probably have to nap all afternoon in order to do that And he will probably sleep all day I can see me going to the Fitness Center by myself today I take Sundays off from walking so I don t want to miss any other day during the week I know they want you to walk 7 days a week but I think everyone needs a day of rest If the weather is nice I still take the dog every day and I just think how fun it would be for him to hear those toads haha I m happy to hear Heather that your cows are all healthy Sabrina I am too wondering if you made it back safely and how all the kids did on the plane for you Tammy I m excited to research behind the book at Brocantehome I am familiar with Melissa Norris so I m looking forward to exploring some new books Last night I went to Bible Study which I probably shouldn t have I have to drive about 35 minutes to get there and it was snowing I had driven into the city earlier that day and it was snowing a bit on the trip home but nothing major so I thought I would be fine I left home and about 2 minutes in I thought I should just turn around But I didn t because I really really wanted to go So I kept going I did get to church safely and by the end of Bible Study it had stopped snowing But I m telling you what horrid weather on the way home I prayed all the way home and am so thankful I made it The snow was so so deep the wind was gusting and a couple of times I slipped even though I was going super slow I won t be doing that again When I woke up this morning the majority of the snow melted It s so funny here this year it s quite warm and we typically have a lot more snow by now We are expecting about 20cm tomorrow I m hoping for a nice storm so I can just stay storm stayed at home Today was a lovely day school with the kids reporting for the term end yay all done and then lastly going out with the family on some errands We visited our new library it is CUUUTE I love it They have a gas fireplace with comfy chairs I can hardly wait to attend some events activities there with the kids So personal only one lady working there it s small but just perfect A beautiful tiny town library Then we went into the capital of our province which is only 20 minutes away but really considering the whole entire province is less than a 2 1 2 hours drive North to South and 15 30 minutes East to West it s not that special we live so close to the capital It s also quite tiny of a city considering what a typical capital is We like it though I went to a specialty children s toy game store in hopes of finding some educational games They were very very expensive so I opted to only buy one and I went home and buy 8 games on Amazon and saved myself 45 I m implementing in our new schedule Mommy Me Time that is Educational So the list so far is educational games puzzles science experiments any tips books advice here and reading out loud by mom I d love it if any of you have any other ideas I gotta go check out Brocantehome now Have a good night porchies You are all in my prayers Joyce Hein Farmgirl Sister 6071 Sobyn True Blue Farmgirl 350 Posts Sabrina Germany 350 Posts Posted Feb 05 2016 08 00 10 AM We made it home What a whirlwind trip My granddad had gone into the hospital right around Christmas but I thought he was getting better then I get a call that he is on hospice So I spent the next day preparing to leave and finding subs for all my volunteer things and we flew out on Wednesday My husband was given leave for a week so he had to leave Texas to fly back the following Monday right after the huge snow storm on the east coast Luckily he didn t have any issues getting out I then went and stayed on my parent s farm for the next week On Tuesday right after I had seen him my grandfather passed away then on Wednesday morning we lost my great uncle who I happened to see when I was traveling through Dallas that monday I m so glad I made the trip and got to spend time with my grandfather He had a really good day the first day I was there it was such a blessing Him and my grandmother were really glad I came and he got to meed Daniel I m still a bit in shock I think or maybe denial I was very close with him and thought he would be around for many more years I just can t imagine life without him I m sure it will hit me hard when I stop spinning from this trip And then to loose my uncle right away as well unfortunately I had to leave before his service My mom was really close with her uncle and we just all couldn t believe we would loose these two great men so close together So now the rundown on our crazy trip home We had Southwest tickets to get us to BWI on Monday Space A flights out of BWI to Ramstein are generally on Sun Mon and Tues I can say that since it is on their FB page These are passenger planes but all for military and cost less than 20 person flying out of there We flew Space A in and had no problem So anyway I get there and it was CRAZY busy Space A means you are basically on standby People who are moving or otherwise have official orders have tickets for the plane space a passengers have to wait to see if there are any available seats and are then listed by category and date they signed up for the order they get a seat Well there were 177 people waiting for seats and they only released 35 seats So LOTS of people got turned away That night my mom had flown to BWI with me to help with the kids We went to the hotel but mom had to fly back before we ever got up BTW the roll call for the flight didn t start until 8 30pm and then continued once they got everyone checked in it was almost 1am when we got to the hotel So Tuesday the roll call wasn t until 11pm Luckily the hotel was great and gave us a really late checkout We slept in found lunch and then went back to the airport around 4 Now part of space a is you have to be ready to fly meaning check out of the hotel have all your bags don t have a car rental to return etc when they call you So we were all loaded up and checked out and at the airport We found a small play area for the kids and after a couple hours I fed them supper Luckily the USO there lets you store your luggage so I didn t have to haul it all around There were less people waiting Tuseday but only about 8 of 40 or so made it Back to the hotel we went didn t get settled in until after 2am So that was the last flight out of BWI until Sunday but I found out there was a flight the next evening Wed out of Andrews AFB which was only about 40 miles away Another girl who was traveling with her kids and I had been hanging out and were trying to figure out how to get there A friend who lives about an hour from BWI offered to come get me and drive me down there yay she is awesome and the other girl rented a car Got there around 2 30 I think the roll call was at 6 yay for not being in the middle of the night Also Andrews had a GREAT kid family area right there where they call you for the flight so we just let the kids loose and hung out there We made that flight But the interesting thing it was not a passenger plane It was an air force cargo plane So we had the seats along the walls with their equipment down the middle However it ended up being a pretty nice flight except for being really loud The kids didn t sleep a lot but they slept some and were able to spread out on the floor to sleep We are home now and glad although trying to overcome jet lag Most of the kids slept till 2pm Dan woke up at 9ish and then napped for almost three hours around 11 30 Sydney woke up around 10 ate then went right back to bed I woke them up at 2 in hopes they will go to bed at a decent time and they are all still exhausted I haven t done anything today on purpose but I have to get recovered to jump back into life starting Sunday when I need to teach children s church An issue has come up with CC that I have to get worked out this week I have TONS of emails to catch up on and my blog needs some attention since I haven t done anything on it in the last few weeks So can t take too much time to recover I also have a blanket to make Daniel for his B day thought I had plenty of time and now I m down to just over 2 weeks Luckily he won t notice if it isn t done So that is the rundown of the crazy last two weeks for me Sabrina Farmgirl Sister 3275 http kidscrunchandchrist com Norwex www back and I m not making myself do anything that isn t absolutely necessary this week I m also only having the kids do minimal school and rest a lot We are really just focusing on recovering My fibro has reared its ugly head I am fine 90 of the time I have worked hard to control it through diet suppliments and energy budgeting may not seem like it but I m very careful about energy and physical activity But I guess all the moving around not sleeping well and lugging luggage all over airports got to me Luckily this is also Dustin s slow relatively week at work Slow meaning he works 10 hour days instead of 14 hour days The only thing we have to do this week is CC and then we don t have anything until next wednesday for CC but after that all the regular activities resume So it should give me a chance to rest I would rest better if the baby would sleep We had just transitioned him from our bed to his crib before the trip we were ALMOST over the hump of him sleeping decently in there when we had to leave During the trip it was easier for me to just keep him in bed with me but now he wants nothing to do with his crib He has been waking up every 30 minutes 1 hour ALL NIGHT Exhausting Last night I had to just get really stubborn and not get him up He would cry and stand up in his crib I d go in lay him back down and pat him a couple times then walk away 10 15 minutes later we would repeat that process BUT once he finally went to sleep he slept for 2 5 hours then another 2 5 Doesn t sound like much but after several nights of getting up every hour it was glorious LOL I think he is getting it I hope he is getting it I ll just have to stick with that plan for a while I guess Sabrina Farmgirl Sister 3275 http kidscrunchandchrist com Norwex www sabrinascheerer
