bell The girls came along about an hour later that was one incident That very same year late in the summer fall was upon us and it was startin to get mighty cold in the night Mama made the girls go in the kitchen to fetch a pan of water for them to go out on the porch and wash their feet The boy asked his sisters who s gonna go first and of course the girls did The boy said he d go last and that way he could wash the pan out for the night On his way in he looked inot the living room and saw a girl all dressed in white Thinking it was his sister he changed direction and went out the back door to come in the front and scare her The boy jumped at her thru the front door and she disappeard The oldest sister Helen came down stairs asking her brother if he was trying to scare somebody he said he thought SHE was trying to scare him She laughed and said she was upstair getting her night clothes on The next day he confided to his Mama and Mama said there are things about Booger Hole that we see and will never understand In the following years that boy would get up to go see who was coming up the road He d hear all kinds of clamoring like horses and singing But there d never be anyone busy trying to decide on what quilt pattern I m going to make up for our KY home I m thinking about either a Grandmother s Flower Garden or Dresden Plate I have a nice stash of fat quarters just calling out to me In the meantime a hot cup of tea might clear my mind and some warm peach cobbler sure would warm my tummy I ve wept in the night for the shortness of sight that to someone s needs I ve been blind but I ve yet to feel a twinge of regret for being a little too kind Claude09647 True Blue Farmgirl 761 Posts Claudia Our Dairy Farm Pennsylvania USA 761 Posts Posted Nov 13 2009 07 52 23
