so I m genuinely curious The theory I m suggesting lead to similar failures on other inductors many times in my past one turn of the coil s winding shortens which leads to sharp drop in inductance which leads to sharp increase in the current passing through the controlling chip it usually overloads and explodes Normally after switch turns on the current through it increases linearly with time due to inductance Depending how long you hold switch closed and how big is inductance the current through the circuit might never reach the one defined by the coil s active resistance If a turn shortens the active resistance remains the only limiting factor as the current will jump to this max value almost immediately View Conversation 12 29 2014 09 02 PM Max 5gen What puzzles me about this fried chip is the fact it is clearly overheated due to excessive current passing through it but it s hard to explain where that current comes from if we assume that only winding resistance matter It all depends on how exactly ECU controls the motor does it hold corresponding winding lead to the ground through the chip on constant basis or it only grounds a winding for short pulse to make a step and then releases it In latter case it would explain why short in just one turn of a winding leading to sharp decrease of its inductance leads to chip channel overload and subsequent self destruction I m just having hard time to believe coolant leak can create such a good short of entire winding to overload the chip If I m not mistaken their normal resistance is in the range of tens of ohms which is hard to short by just making something wet View Conversation 09 10 2014

engine I think at least thats what I see when looking under the car I have looked every where and nothing The 2 radiater hoses are hot the 2 heater core hoses are warm The 2 hoses that come from the heater core back to the engine are not leaking but the top one is warm and the bottom one is not hot or warm Water pump is not making noise and while I have had to replace water every few days its about 1 liter Over time I have replaced the over flow bottle that was leaking and the top radiator hose that had a pin prick hole and the thermostat today View Conversation 11 20 2015 03 58 PM Icemule O k here is the deal I tackled the rear gasket nightmare and it wasn t that bad but here is the problem I m over heating Been losing coolant since Ive had the care which is going on 11 months I was careful of the heater core tubes on the firewall and while the care was running after the gasket job the exhaust caught on fire Freaked out and got the fire out and while figuring out how that happened I saw that the top heater core hose had snapped of at the firewall no problem I just got a brass fitting and connected the 2 heater core hoses together Well I refilled the radiator and all was good but it overheated so I replace the thermostat after I puled it and stuck it in boiling water and it only opened half way Have to send in 2 posts View Conversation 11 20 2015 03 31 PM Icemule Dennis I m in deep and need help I see you are online Will you be here for awhile because its going to take about 10 minutes to write out the problem Thxs View Conversation 09 10 2014 03 21 PM maxiiiboy Denis thanks for your response Meanwhile I came to the conclusion that the residual coolant is not an issue See my comment at http maxima org forums 5th generat ml post8983660 View Conversation 09 08 2014 10 04 PM maxiiiboy Hello Dennis when you did your coolant IACV bypass how did you ensure that there is no coolant left inside the IACV I am pondering this issue because when I did my bypass I looped one of the coolant hoses to close cap the IACV I now realize that with any residual coolant left inside the corrosion of the wiring may continue leading to eventual short This is not good I am considering opening the loop and other dry up measures However I haven t done anything yet Thanks for your comments Maxiiboy View Conversation 06 06 2014 06 20 AM MaxMTY Hello Dennis I have a question for you I hope you can help me I was trying to change the tranny fliud automatic to my 99 max and I found the strainer has a bolt
