  • About Jesus
several hundred of these prophesies that were so specific that there could be no question as to who this person was when He arrived on the scene and then it happened Two thousand years ago a child was born of a virgin mother and was announced by heavenly angels to be the Savior of the world He was called Emmanuel by the angels which means God with us and He was given the name Jesus which means God Saves He was also called the Son of God and He revealed in His lifetime that He was God who had come to earth in the body of a human to save us from our sins Not only did He fulfill every prophesy made about the Savior He also confirmed His identity through miracles which included bringing the dead back to life healing the sight of the blind as well as many other signs and wonders He told the world that He was the way the truth and the light and that no one could have friendship with God without Him He promised that He would die in our place and would rise again to life on the third day after His death and prove once and for all His identity and our salvation As was prophesied Jesus was killed on a cross made for torture and capital punishment even though He had done nothing wrong He was buried in a tomb on the third day He rose from the dead and appeared to His followers for a period of 40 days and then ascended into heaven in their sight He promised He would also return one day and judge the world The good news that His followers announced from that day on was that even though everyone is condemned to die
