I ve redrawn this in ways suggested by Drew owner of Urban Fiction the comicbook shop in Nambour It is much more satisfying to me now The story is about the social effects of the non sexual companionships between various characters human human human android human dog android dog I thought a symbolic image would convey this best hence the differently colored hands Blue of course suggests the non human androids though none is actually colored blue in the story Probably should add dates to these Most are pretty ancient Eventually I may sort them in some kind of order At the moment they are all higgledy piggledy now there is a strange expression wonder where it comes from Almost all these pictures were drawn using ordinary pencils and cheap typing paper When I was in high school an art teacher said one day that we should spend as much as we can on art supplies because the better your tools the better the end result That didn t seem right to me so then and there I resolved to use the cheapest tools I could get my hands on ordinary paper cheap pencils and pens DemonGuitarist 159k pencil and paper I ve rescanned this picture at higher resolution I love to sit in on band practice sessions They tend to have more energy and gritty edge than their more polished and perfected stage performances I drew this while a few friends were brushing up on their music The character illustrated here is a very dynamic and charismatic person Mark Sneddon who I ve known since we were kids though lost track of lately Linda 51k pencil and paper Linda at the time I drew this sketch was pretty young in her early twenties I think There was always something about her She is one of the most attractive people I ve ever met Some of that comes from her obvious physical appearance but most of it came from her impressive personality and quickness of mind Something I wish I could portray MoonGirl 43k pencil chalk pen chinagraph pencil crayon cartridge paper This comes from the bad old days when I used drugs The only reason I sat down to draw this picture was that I was in such a rotten mood because I was withdrawing and didn t want to interact with anybody This picture reminds me that even bad times can produce good things There is no sense in saying Oh I don t feel well enough to do anything good today You don t know what can result These days I don t use any drugs It certainly makes life a heck of a lot easier Regarding drugs the law is an ass People shouldn t use drugs not because they re illegal but because they make life worse I enjoy life a lot more now alone 85k pencil and paper I was very depressed when I drew this I d broken up with the woman I

book Protect Your Ass ets by local businesswoman Dymphna Boholt Most of the book is a practical guide to the extraordinary lengths required these days to protect against unscrupulous law suits Unfortunately it also talks about how to avoid paying the proper tax due something I frown upon Tax is required to keep society running smoothly If the rich avoid it then undue burden falls upon the poor to support

Artificial Intelligence that is smarter than us what will it really be like A brilliant scientist heads a small team of programmers building an artificial intelligence AI This story primarily considers how AIs could be misused for ill or used for good and how they might provide the solutions to many of our problems It also illustrates concerns at how rights can be so easily denied those who deserve them I designed this to be quite a bit different from normal stories It has a number of parts and many of the chapters read more like short stories than part of a long piece but that s how I wanted it to be I wanted an overarching story made up of smaller ones Maybe it worked maybe it didn t I think the standard way of telling stories is becoming too formulaic Intro build up climax resolution It has become a ritual I finished this the first draft in the month Yay Now the long slow neverending process of revision Ward Not finished This year 2010 I tried screnzy Script Frenzy a spinoff from NaNoWriMo It s not the end of the world This story isn t finished yet I found it so constraining to write as a script that I have been considering rewriting it as a conventional story We ll see if I get much more done in the future Seeking Reason Not finished My 2009 NaNoWriMo novel We live in an amazingly privileged time but take it so much for granted What if this is as good as it gets Most of us don t understand how the decisions we make today have the potential to utterly unhinge our future We think we understand but truly we don t Unfinished I hope to complete it eventually Critically Damaged Not finished My 2008 NaNoWriMo novel It can take years to create an intricate masterwork When it is done what is its value And who can say Unfinished I hope to complete it eventually Selena City my 2007 NaNoWriMo novel 248kB 43 725 words 75 pages Adele works in security and is in love with Brenda Unfortunately circumstances have separated them A leading AI expert has been abducted and Adele and her fellow security staff must track him down before something terrible happens to the City This has accidentally brought Adele and Brenda back together again Can their love resume Should it Things become further complicated when an old friend turns up in the city as a refugee from Earth A romance mystery set in the near future at a city under the surface of the Moon in an almost ideal society where sexuality is not an issue Please let me know what you think of it in my LiveJournal or Dreamwidth blogs or facebook During November I was able to stop real life interfering with writing but when the month ended I was suddenly buried under all the things I d put off Finally finished almost a year later well except for the inevitable rewrites yet to come Closed Curve 8kB 1 298 words 2 pages I woke from a nap with the rapidly fading fragment of a dream which hinged on a strange idea By the time I had the computer running and had begun frantically typing the dream had mostly evaporated but I d managed to weave an odd tale around the bit that remained I know it is nothing like the dream The dream was pleasant I can t blame the dream for this horrid story But somehow it feels like it didn t really come from me either it s like it invented itself Invade Not finished novel for NaNoWriMo 2006 I participated in NaNoWriMo again in 2006 though I didn t finish by the end of the month I might still complete this story one day I didn t map this story out in detail beforehand Some people insist that it is possible to go at the story letting it unfold as they write but that doesn t seem to work so well for me I had only the vaguest notion of where this was going to go before I began I think I need to map out my stories in detail before beginning Out at Night 1kB 919 words 2 pages This was originally written as an exercise for the writers group I was attending at the time The main character is supposed to be my niece Sophie in the future Cuckoo 12kB 1 948 words 4 pages I wrote this fairly recently after a nightmare The nightmare was quite different to this story and had an altogether darker more disturbing plot I might write that down some day too Once Bitten 9kB 1 466 words 3 pages This unpleasant little tale occurred to me out of the blue while I was over in New Zealand for Xmas 2005 I thought I had put it up here some time back but realised today more than a year later that I d forgotten Remedied Insurance 291kB 52 000 words 95 pages In 2005 I completed my first NaNoWriMo Yay In some ways I m really happy with this story even though it is not as well written as I d have liked It s about ideas and love and the near future This story has as many cool concepts stuffed into it as I could at the time It is mostly a happy and optimistic piece deliberately so I need to rewrite some clumsy parts though If you read it please bear in mind it was my first attempt at long form story writing so it reads more like a collection of short stories I ll rewrite it eventually Anty sense 11kB 1 665 words 4 pages I started this story a while ago but got stuck part way through I knew how it had to end and I knew the general theme of the story but I was caught up on a
