  • MPPM in solidarity with palestinian prisoners on hunger strike
forced to live and their indomitable will and determination to continue the struggle for the realization of their inalienable rights The situation in Israeli jails reflects the repressive authoritarian and undemocratic nature of the policy conducted by the state of Israel More than three hundred Palestinians are now imprisoned many for several years without having been pronounced against them a single charge or without their own lawyers being able to prepare and present their defense The isolation sometimes for several years the ban on family or even the lawyers visits the beatings torture and blackmail are common practices that Palestinian non governmental organizations and Palestinian Israeli and international human rights organizations have denounced The physical and psychological torture is common practice and sanctioned by the military and judicial branches of state of Israel The condition of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails illustrates in a particularly vivid way the tragedy of the Palestinian people under the Zionist occupation the violence of a daily life made of systematic repression ongoing dispossession of land destruction of homes and farmland expulsions continuing expansion of settlements meticulous application of a policy aimed at crushing their identity and national existence Sixty four years after the Nakba the international community continues to watch between passivity indifference or complicity the advance of Israeli occupation making a dead letter of all the precepts of international law and order and many hundreds of United Nations resolutions that condemn the state of Israel that demand the end of the occupation and the full realization of national rights of the Palestinian people beginning with the constitution of a state in the territories occupied in 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital and a just solution to the situation of Palestinian refugees The status of the health of many Palestinian prisoners some nearing

  • MPPM calls on EP to reject ACAA with Israel
persists in the occupation and colonization of Palestinian territories in open defiance of international law Under this policy Israel has indeed intensified settlement construction and expansion while it has multiplied the measures and actions to cause the expulsion of Palestinian populations from their lands Such a policy has sparked a widespread condemnation in the international community translated both in condemnation of such initiatives for contrary to basic human rights and in the active boycott of actions and initiatives that could somehow represent an effective recognition of the Israeli occupation of their territories The widely shared political consensus within the European institutions is very clear about the illegality of Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and in considering the settlement policy carried out by Israel as a major obstacle to establishing a just and lasting peace in the Middle East It was indeed as a consequence of this principle that in 2010 the European Parliament decided to suspend the process of assessing this ACAA protocol following the Israeli assault in international waters against the Freedom Flotilla In this sense the eventual adoption of the ACAA protocol with Israel would violate that consensus and put the European Union in a position of complicity with the repeated and continuous violation by Israel of the spirit and letter of the UN Charter All available data coming from United Nations agencies and European Union itself confirm that Israel has intensified and accelerated the policy of expropriation and expulsion of the Palestinians and the occupation and colonization of their lands and multiplied in general violations of human rights of the population of the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem At the same time continues the illegal and criminal blockade on the Gaza population that the international community generally strongly disapproves It is indeed particularly shocking that in

  • On Land Day MPPM draws attention to situation in Palestine
local Palestinian leaders responded with the call for a general strike and demonstrations against the expropriation of land in all Palestinian cities on March 30 Although Israel had outlawed all demonstrations more than 400 000 people responded to the call by joining the general strike and participating in peaceful demonstrations from north to south of Israel There were also solidarity strikes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip To these peaceful demonstrations Israel responded to the intervention of armed forces backed by tanks in Palestinian villages This led to the killing of six unarmed Palestinians and hundreds of wounded and prisoners Since then March 30 is Land Day for the Palestinians On this day they honor the memory of the victims but also celebrate the date on which 36 years ago Palestinian citizens of Israel came together to confront the Israeli authorities who wanted to plunder their land With the complacency of the international community Israel has continued its policy of appropriation of Palestinian land to build settlements has uprooted trees and destroyed crops has tore down houses expelling their inhabitants and precluding their return and built the apartheid wall that divides families and separates Palestinians from their land Objectively

  • On World Water Day MPPM denounces shortages in OPT
appeals are made to the rational use of resources made available to their inhabitants But in the Occupied Palestinian Territories the population has a more pressing problem pure and simple access to drinking water for daily consumption The United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People held in Cairo on 6 and 7 February reached these conclusions Palestinians have access to only 10 of the capacity of the water system of the West Bank while Israel has complete control over the aquifers of the region Israel has continuously over exploited water causing the depletion of aquifers and then selling it back to the Palestinians Half of the Palestinian wells dried up in the last two decades The Israelis consume seven times more water than the Palestinians while these pay the water five times more expensive than the settlers The Israeli settlements discharging annually 40 million cubic meters of liquid and solid waste on Palestinian land and daily 60 million liters of sewage untreated or only partially treated are discharged on land at sea or on drinking water sources The direct damage caused to the Palestinian economy by restrictions on access to water including the higher price of water consumed

  • MPPM condemns israeli offensive against Gaza
dead and dozens injured is the possible balance of another Israeli military offensive against the suffering Palestinian population of Gaza The sequence of bombings started last Friday has sown a trail of death and destruction in several villages and towns of the occupied region Men women or children schools and other civilian infrastructure nothing has been spared Although not surprising the brutality of the Israeli army is even more striking since the current bombing campaign on the Palestinian population was triggered in a totally preposterous way and without anything warranted In fact it only raises the level of violence and oppression that marks the daily lives of the Palestinian people under Israeli continued occupation In the current context in the Middle East with the exacerbation of internal conflicts and the proliferation of external interference and warmongering plans for new invasions the Israeli military offensive seems geared to cause an escalation of international tensions in an attempt to justify large scale military action against other countries in the region Started a few days after the speech of President of the United States of America at the annual meeting of the Israeli lobby in the U S and continued in the middle
