    materials on the topics of solid state chemistry materials science nanoscale engineering and nanotechnology Examples of products and resources can be seen at http www mrsec wisc edu nano One of the postdoctoral positions available will focus on informal and K 12 education and on our collaboration with the NSF funded Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network NISE Net www nisenet org NISE Net is a national network of science museums and other informal science education venues dedicated to sharing nanotechnology with the public The second postdoctoral position available will focus on undergraduate and graduate level education and educational material development A doctorate in engineering physics or chemistry is required as are excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills and a strong interest in science and technology education The position involves significant personnel management responsibilities mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students collaboration with a wide range of educators in formal and informal settings and development of materials for web dissemination Additionally opportunities are available if interested for supervising undergraduate research and research experiences for K 12 teachers Contingent upon funding this position is initially for one year second year possible with a start date in summer early fall 2009

    Opportunities WAESO invites and encourages the submission of proposals for research paper presentations from undergraduate and graduate students who are doing research either Nanotechnology related STEM fields and are strongly influenced by the perspectives of underrepresented populations in their work Societal aspects of converging technologies and nanotechnology with specific concerns about underrepresented perspectives Abstracts for research papers to be presented which address one of both of the above two general categories will be accepted Notifications will be made on a rolling basis with a final deadline for electronic submission of abstracts of February 29 2008 and final notifications by March 6 2008 The final deadline for electronic submission of completed papers is March 22 2008 Competitive scholarships will be given to qualified students whose papers have been accepted for presentation at this conference These scholarships consist of payment or reimbursement student and mentor as appropriate for travel airplane train car taxi etc lodging hotel per diem meals expenses student 500 00 stipend certificate of participation and opportunity to compete for best research paper presentation award with cash prizes in several categories We strongly encourage you to register and submit your proposal for research presentation by visiting our conference website http
