    of nanoparticles is practically gaining momentum to revolutionize the emerging nanotechnology It is unfolding its infinite potential applications that would lead to flexible devices remarkably no waste process low cost gadgets and novel printed products unimaginable in the next decades One of the most significant features of inkjet printing is that it s a contactless technology that can basically print on any substrates without the risk of damage even in most sophisticated materials With this important characteristic inkjet printing coupled with nanotechnology would certainly make a leap in supporting any state of the art technology This thesis will focus on fabricating and evaluating inkjetted silver based electrodes for faster gas sensor response Phase I covers synthesis of aqueous based silver nanoparticle to be used as ink The synthesized ink will be evaluated for inkjet droplet formation with maximum conductivity using different parameters such as line uniformity number of layers and substrate temperature during inkjet printing Phase II includes electrode design optimization The inter electrode distance will be reduced to emphasize the effects and influence on the overall gas sensing characteristics and properties June 1998 April 2002 Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics University of the Philippines Los Baños Laguna Philippines

    Oryza sativa L Currently nanotechnology has become a rapidly growing industry with increasing applications in many areas of the economy such as textiles electronics pharmaceutics cosmetics and environmental remediation Investments in nanotechnology are increasing worldwide Current annual production of engineered nanoparticles was in the order of 103 tons in 2004 and is expected to increase to 104 105 tons per year after 2010 Because of their widespread use in consumer products that can be accidentally or incidentally released to the environment and expecting that engineered nanoparticles will find their way into aquatic terrestrial and atmospheric environments there is some concern about the potentially harmful effects of those nanoparticles in that their effects are largely unknown Their unique properties such as high specific surface area abundant reactive sites as well as their mobility may have significant effects on many organisms especially plant which couldn t escape from inappropriate environment To provide new information about effect of nanoparticles on the most important economic plant in Thailand we investigated effects of two types of photocatalyst nanopaticles on Rice root using difference concentrations and difference period of time for soaking seed Percentage of seed germination length of root number of root and relative root
