    will lead to innovation which can profoundly influence the lives of ordinary people The researcher in Thailand will benefit from this project by getting world class support from the Angstrom Laboratory and the researcher in Sweden would benefit from a decade old experience in inorganic nanoparticles of the group in Thailand and also the support of interfacing and automation of any devices that come out of the project due to the existing competence at AIT for such purposes Sponsor SIDA Research Grant Sweden Nanotechnology based Pressure Sensors for Tsunami Detection The main objective of this project is to study and develop a stand alone pressure sensing device for Tsunami early warning system The device will be fabricated using a demonstrated multilayered thin film deposition technique that has been developed at AIT comprising of alternate layer stacks of gold nanoparticles and doped or undoped ZnS nanoparticles by a novel layer by layer modified polyelectrolyte deposition process Sponsor AIT RTG Joint Research Project Conjugated Semiconductor Nanoparticles as Fluorophores for Rapid Detection of Bacteria This project will study the assembly of fluorescent inorganic nanoparticles ZnS Mn2 and biomimetic polymers on to bacterial cell walls and will address the two major challenges for the rapid detection of a single bacterium are the achievement namely i short to real time detection and ii ultra sensitivity in bio analysis Here we propose a bioassay for in situ pathogen quantification based on bio conjugated fluorescent nano material The fluorescent nanoparticles would provide the fluorescent signal for bio analysis which in future can be easily incorporated with bio recognition molecules such as an antibody Sponsor NANOTEC NSTDA Photocatalytic Thin Film Coating Technology Photocatalytic coating is a basic technological subject of great importance to industrial development One part of the project utilizes solution processing methods such as sol gel dip coating and spray pyrolysis techniques to fabricate e g TiO2 films on glass and hard plastics with an aim for applications in food and agricultural industry The other part explores the method of plasma sputtering deposition mainly of TiO2 on glass which is applicable in optical component industry In addition the project will attempt to investigate novel methods for photocatalytic coatings for example sputtering processing with substrates at room temperature coating on other types of surface and development of novel photocatalytic materials Sponsor NECTEC NSTDA A Study of Metal Oxide Semiconductor Thin Films TiO2 SnO2 In SnO2 F and ZnO for Photocatalysis and Transparent Electrodes in Optoelectronic Devices In order to gain full understanding of some metal oxide semiconductors used for photocatalytic self cleaning and conductive purposes i e in optoelectronic devices this project proposes to synthesize TiO2 and ZnO particles for photocatalysis applications and spin coat and dip coat these particles into thin films in order to be used as self cleaning materials and transparent electrodes for optoelectronic devicesEach thin film processing technique will be experimented separately at Mahidol University RF magnetron sputtering Asian Institute of Technology spin dip coating and National Metal and Materials Technology Center spray
