    Environmental Justice Network working to promote equitable and sustainable policies at the community level and across the country Shalini is a former Bush Leadership Fellow holds a B S in the geophysical sciences from the University of Chicago and a Masters degree in environmental management from Yale University She loves spending time with her two boys going for walks and cooking CEED org Garrett Fitzgerald Urban Sustainability Directors Network USDN Strategic Partnerships Advisor Garrett Fitzgerald supports USDN in strategic planning organizing collaborative activities and engaging external partners to help USDN members advance their work He is based in Washington DC Garrett previously managed the Sustainable Oakland program from 2008 to 2013 for the City of Oakland CA and served as Programs Director for ICLEI USA He is a board member of STAR Communities and co chaired development of ICLEI s Community Scale Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting Protocol Garrett holds a Master s degree in Energy and Resources from the University of California Berkeley where he studied community sustainability performance management He also previously served as a consultant to the City of Berkeley s Office of Energy and Sustainability a renewable energy staff researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and an energy efficiency programs analyst at ICF Consulting He is a LEED accredited professional and a past Fellow and Leadership Grant Recipient of the Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation Kirsten Schwind Co founder and Senior Strategist Bay Localize Kirsten holds a B A in Economics and Public Policy from Swarthmore College and an M S in Natural Resources Management from the University of Michigan She authored Bay Localize s Community Resilience Toolkit and co authored Tapping the Potential of Urban Rooftops which won an award from the American Planning Association s California Chapter Kirsten is deeply involved in local energy policy and formerly served as the Chair of the City of Berkeley s Energy Commission At Bay Localize Kirsten convenes the Resilient Communities Initiative RCI and takes the lead on Resilient Services workshops and consulting She also has worked extensively in food systems and international trade policy at other nonprofit groups including as Program Director at Food First and once served as shop steward for her union Kirsten worked for several years in Latin America in human rights and the environment and is fluent in Spanish Shamar A Bibbins Program Officer Environment at the Kresge Foundation Shamar Bibbins serves as a program officer for Environment at The Kresge Foundation where her grantmaking supports policies and programs that help communities build resilience in the face of climate change Shamar plays a lead role in managing the Environment Program s Climate Resilience and Urban Opportunity Initiative That initiative supports community based nonprofit organizations seeking to influence local and regional climate resilience planning policy development and implementation while reflecting the priorities and needs of low income people She also contributes to the development and implementation of program strategies I am guided by a deep passion for social economic and climate justice for underrepresented communities
