    bbl 2 McKenzie 15 900 225 bbl 3 Dunn 14 974 587 bbl 4 Bowman 11 200 771 bbl 5 Williams 9 669 797 bbl South Dakota tops a cumulative 50 million barrels Cumulative oil production in South Dakota beginning in 1954 topped 50 million barrels at the end of 2010 coming in at 50 322 369 barrels The highest well count was 207 which occurred in 1988 Updated reports and charts are available on the SD Department of Environment Natural Resources website at denr sd gov des og producti aspx Bakken VOC Task Force update The Bakken Volatile Organic Compounds VOC Task Force and North Dakota Department of Health are nearing completion of their review of air emissions from oil and gas production facilities in the Bakken Pool The goal of the permitting and compliance guidance document created is to provide certainty of the entire process from emission calculations to emission control requirements and compliance Any well drilled after June 1 2011 is considered new and will automatically have to implement the guidance document changes Any well completed before June 1 will have until September 1 to recalculate using Health Department standards and then implement control devices These changes apply to Bakken Pool wells as defined by the NDIC To begin implementation each company will be sent a letter detailing instructions on well information submissions The official document and calculation spreadsheets will likely be available on the Health Department s website after the process has been finalized Petroleum Council Education Scholarships Available The Petroleum Council will provide three 1 000 scholarships to students attending a North Dakota college who are pursuing a degree in petroleum engineering geology or a related field or who have work internship experience in the oil and gas industry Scholarship applications must be submitted to the Petroleum Council by April 1 2011 Scholarship information is available on the Petroleum Council website Oil Can Day and Legislative Social Oil Can Day and the Legislative Social were once again a success Twelve Petroleum Council members along with the Energy Career Awareness Partnership ND Geological Survey ND Pipeline Authority Oil Gas Division Oil Gas Research Council and TrainND displayed informational booths at the Capitol The Legislative Social followed and was very well attended by legislators and Petroleum Council members 2011 WBPC information online The 2011 Williston Basin Petroleum Conference will be held May 1 3 in Regina Saskatchewan Registration and sponsorship information is available on the 2011 WBPC website Nearly 1 000 people are already registered to attend Equipment and exhibitor display areas are sold out Early bird registration ends April 1 after which time the registration fee increases to 400CAD REGISTER NOW Bakken Air to begin scheduled air service between Bismarck and Williston Executive Air Taxi Corporation recently announced the beginning of Bakken Air a new air transportation solution with service between Bismarck and Williston Service will begin April 1 with regularly scheduled round trip flights on Mondays and Fridays Additional information is available at www bakkenair
