    IMMEDIATE RELEASE North Dakota Farm Bureau November 3 2010 BISMARCK ND In yesterday s statewide election voters made the decision to pass Measure 1 which calls for the establishment of a North Dakota Legacy Fund This is a bright day for the future financial stability of North Dakota said North Dakota Farm Bureau Public Policy Director Sandy Clark North Dakota voters made the decision to leave a legacy for future generations Projections for the 2011 2013 biennium will put 613 million into the savings account and still have almost 700 million for immediate needs The 2010 Legacy Fund measure requires that 30 percent of the total collections of both the extraction tax and production tax are deposited into the fund Money that is deposited cannot be withdrawn against until 2017 In order to withdraw from the Legacy Fund after 2017 the Legislature must approve the withdrawal with a two thirds vote in both chambers and the state can only spend 15 million at one time Dakota Draper President of the North Dakota Education Association said The NDEA is very pleased that North Dakota voters have supported a plan to make sure that the oil resources we have continue to provide for generations of future North Dakotans long after the oil is depleted The balance of saving and spending in Measure 1 enables us to take care of present and future needs of all North Dakotans The 2010 Legacy Fund is a more balanced approach than the similar measure proposed in 2008 which was based on specific dollar amounts rather than on set percentages The concept was simple plan and save for the future with extra resources available now It s what our parents taught us and what we teach our children said Ron Ness Petroleum Council President The people of

    Health September 1 2010 BISMARCK ND This morning Denbury Onshore LLC reported that a wellbore failed in the course of a hydraulic fracturing operation at a drilling rig about 2 miles southwest of Killdeer N D Personnel from the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources and the North Dakota Department of Health responded onsite No injuries or offsite impacts have been reported Mineral Resource officials are investigating the cause of the wellbore failure As a result of the incident a mixture of primarily water and some oil began flowing from the ground in the area immediately around the wellhead This was fully contained by a protective dike surrounding the site preventing release into a nearby creek All leaking fluid within the containment dike is being vacuumed into trucks and removed About 500 barrels have leaked thus far and all have been recovered Coil tubing will be used to seal the wellbore below ground Crews expect to have it fully cemented by later today or tomorrow The nearest city that accesses area ground water is Killdeer The wellbore failure occurred more than a mile outside the city s wellhead protection area meaning that it will not affect Killdeer s drinking water
