    Five new artists were exhibited every five weeks from March 2012 through April 2013 in the bays of our historic building more The Museum s Collection Slices of the Collection are selections by the curators to give an overview of some of the themes running through the Museum s collection of 20 000 works of art The core of the New Mexico Museum of Art collection collection is from the Southwest particularly New Mexico made by artists who have worked lived or been influenced by travel through the region since the introduction of the railway around 1880 more How the West is One How the West Is One The Art of New Mexico organizes key objects from the museum s collections so that they outline an intercultural history of New Mexico art from the arrival of railroads in 1879 to the present more Art on the Edge 2013 Presents the work of eight contemporary artists selected by Toby Kamps for this biennial juried show organized by Friends of Contemporary Art Photography FOCA P Jan 18 April 14 2013 more Art on the Edge 2010 Presents the work of seven contemporary artists selected by Nicholas Baume for this biennial juried show organized by Friends of Contemporary Art FOCA Apr 16 Aug 1 2010 more Alternative Spaces Eight New Mexico artists created works in the museum s architectural nooks and crannies and public spaces not typically used for the display of artwork including St Francis Auditorium the lobby and its fireplace stairwells and the facade Opened Feb 2009 more 100 Years of the Museum of New Mexico The Territorial Legislature established the Museum of New Mexico in 1909 which has continued to develop since to include four museums and six monuments telling the stories of New Mexico more Pulling Strings The Art

    on the fourth floor of the State Capitol on the corner of Old Santa Fe Trail and Paseo de Peralta The Museum is easily accessible by car or public transportation Map and Directions on Google Map of Downtown Parking Structures Public Transportation Santa Fe Pick up free shuttle around the downtown area including the Rail Runner station in front of the museum and at the Roundhouse State Capitol PERA building For info Santa Fe Pick Up or map Santa Fe Trails Bus the museum is located just around the corner from the downtown transit center on Sheridan Street which is served by routes 1 2 4 5 6 M and P The M Bus serves Museum Hill where the Museum of International Folk Art the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art and the Wheelwright Museum are located NM Rail Runner Express train the musuem is a pleasant 1 mile walk from the Santa Fe Depot or brief shuttle ride from the Santa Fe Depot 1mile or South Capitol stations 2 miles Dining The downtown plaza area offers many good dining choices within walking distance but there is no cafe within the museum Santa Fe
