  • Dr. George E. Thibault, MD, Keynote Speaker, New York Champions of Health Awards - National Medical Fellowships, Inc.
    Healthcare System in Boston and Director of the Academy at Harvard Medical School HMS He was the first Daniel D Federman Professor of Medicine and Medical Education at HMS and is now the Federman Professor Emeritus Dr Thibault previously served as Chief Medical Officer at Brigham and Women s Hospital and as Chief of Medicine at the Harvard affiliated Brockton West Roxbury VA Hospital He was Associate Chief of Medicine and Director of the Internal Medical Residency Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital MGH At the MGH he also served as Director of the Medical ICU and the Founding Director of the Medical Practice Evaluation Unit For nearly four decades at HMS Dr Thibault played leadership roles in many aspects of undergraduate and graduate medical education He played a central role in the New Pathway Curriculum reform and was a leader in the new Integrated Curriculum reform at HMS He was the Founding Director of the Academy at HMS which was created to recognize outstanding teachers and to promote innovations in medical education Throughout his career he has been recognized for his roles in teaching and mentoring medical students residents fellows and junior faculty In addition to his teaching his research has focused on the evaluation of practices and outcomes of medical intensive care and variations in the use of cardiac technologies Dr Thibault is Chairman of the Board of the MGH Institute of Health Professions and he serves on the Board of the New York Academy of Sciences the New York Academy of Medicine the Institute on Medicine as a Profession and the Lebanese American University He serves on the President s White House Fellows Commission and for twelve years he chaired the Special Medical Advisory Group for the Department of Veteran s Affairs He is past President of

    and leads efforts globally to bring GE employees closer to their communities while maintaining diversity and inclusiveness as an essential part of GE s productivity creativity innovation and competitive advantage Elam is a native of New Orleans LA and an alumna of Ursuline Academy She received a B A degree in sociology at Louisiana State University and a Masters of Public Administration at Southern University in Baton Rouge LA Her professional story started over 26 years ago when she worked at GE as an intern while in graduate school Upon graduation she joined GE s Human Resources Leadership Program and had assignments at GE Global Exchange Services and GE Transportation Upon completion of the training program Elam was promoted to successively larger human resources roles in GE Consulting Services GE Capital Mortgage Corp GE Capital Insurance Services and GE Capital Markets Services In June of 2000 Elam became Managing Director Human Resources at GE Capital Commercial Finance and was promoted to Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer in September 2002 In February of 2006 GE s Board of Directors appointed Elam an officer of the Company making her one of the most senior women in the Company Elam expanded her role to lead the GE Foundation in 2013 The GE Foundation focuses on health education and disaster relief The strategic philanthropic programs draw on GE s culture of leadership diversity and inclusiveness and are supported by the ideas inspiration and generosity of GE employees who have a strong commitment to their communities Elam holds leadership roles in GE s African American Forum and the GE Women s Network She is a member of the Executive Leadership Council ELC an organization of the top African Americans in Corporate America and the National Black MBA Association Outside of work Elam is on
