    role does clean thermal energy play in Ontario s developing integrated energy system These are only a few of a series of important questions which our experts will try to answers Panelists Alastair Baird Business Development Officer Natural Resources County of Renfrew Alastair Baird is Manager of Economic Development for the County of Renfrew and also manages the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association He worked in economic development in Ottawa for seven years where energy was one of his sectors along with aerospace defence and security He also did two stints in the whitewater industry working for Wilderness Tours on the Ottawa River in administrative marketing and sales roles He has organized a number of seminars and conferences on renewable energy waste management and bio energy over the past twenty years in Ottawa and Renfrew County Jennifer Green Executive Director AgriEnergy Producers Association of Ontario Jennifer Green is the Executive Director of the AgriEnergy Producers Association of Ontario APAO http www apao ca Having worked for many years as an environmental engineer in private consulting Jennifer shifted her focus to the agricultural sector by offering nutrient management consulting services to farm producers Jennifer applied her project management skills to a biogas system built in 2009 at Ledgecroft Farms her family dairy operation located in Seeley s Bay Don McCabe Vice President Ontario Federation of Agriculture Don McCabe is a no till corn soybean and wheat farmer from Inwood Ontario Don strives to ensure farmer s views are heard and represented at local to international venues to get the best policy for farmers To achieve this Don s farm political background includes being a vice president of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture The Ontario Federation of Agriculture has been active throughout the development of the Green Energy and Green Economy Act to ensure the broad interests of opportunity for farmers is met while protecting energy costs and welfare of all Don is in his third year as President of the Soil Conservation Council of Canada He has studied doctorate level soil genesis and classification at the University of Guelph in Ontario after completing a chemistry degree at the University of Western Ontario Mary Ellen Richardson President Canadian District Energy Association Ms Richardson s career in the oil natural gas and electricity industries spans 28 years and has included roles in marketing and sales in North America She has also been responsible for legal and regulatory affairs finance human resources strategic and operating planning conservation program design and delivery stakeholder management public relations media relations and government liaison activities Over the last seven years Mary Ellen has held executive positions with both the Ontario Power Authority and the Association of Major Power Consumers in Ontario an industry association while also sitting on the Ontario government Conservation and Supply Task Force and the management board of the Ontario Centre of Excellence in Energy Mary Ellen is currently working with the Canadian District Energy Association www cdea ca with Counsel Public Affairs and with Queen
