    the County and the LDC participated in building a portfolio of numerous microFITs and FITs Even the people of Brant County contributed when they formed a Co operative which holds some of the FITs on the arenas in the County It was a true team effort Brant County is near Six Nations and as part of a County Accommodation Strategy a Set Aside FIT project was undertaken with them which provided great benefits for everyone Peter s second challenge has been building an affordable fibre optic network for this rural community that spans 40 000 hectares and contains approximately 10 000 homeowners farmers and businesses The sustainability effort for Brant County involves renewable energy engagement with First Nations safe water electricity and roads top tier health education and affordable reliable internet By building a fiber network we are bringing affordable internet to our community and delivering sustainability Peter adds This approach also defines his personal vision of sustainability Sustainability is largely considered to be renewable energy via distributed generation but it is so much more than just energy generation it is energy conservation it is healthy eating and exercise it is the art of seeing into the long term it is affordable quality of life for all The main driver of sustainability is you and me If we leave it up to our leaders it will be a mere flavour of the month and that will be it We need to continue with a grassroots approach such as OSEA and push the sustainable agenda UP to the policy makers I am encouraged with Alberta s carbon tax and Prime Minister Trudeau s commitments in Paris But these leaders need our help by driving many more concerned Canadians into the sustainability tent says Peter Peter predicts that five years from now

  • OSEA: German Manufacturer Senvion Selects TechnoCentre éolien to Optimize Production of its Wind Turbines in Icing Conditions
