    Suolo della Pianta e degli Alimenti University of Bari Aldo Moro Italy mariateresa lastilla uniba it Michele Deflorio Dipartimento di Scienze del Suolo della Pianta e degli Alimenti University of Bari Aldo Moro Italy Fulvio Cepollaro Azienda Agricola Ittica Caldoli srl Lesina FG Italy Andrea Novelli Azienda Agricola Ittica Caldoli srl Lesina FG Italy Gerardo Centoducati Dipartimento di Scienze del Suolo della Pianta e degli Alimenti University of Bari Aldo Moro Italy Abstract The present paper reports a research on reproductive parameters and larval rearing of red drum Sciaenops ocellatus maintained in captivity for the first time in Europe Red drum juveniles were obtained from United States in the late 90s In early January 2013 40 in total male and female red drums ranging from 34 to 47 cm in length were held in a 25 m 3 rectangular tank with a closed recirculating system with a water flow of 6000 L h located in Lesina FG fish farm Southern Italy Water temperature and salinity ranged between 21 0 and 28 8 C and from 25 to 27 g L respectively The fish were fed commercial feed pellet 46 protein at 1 1 of body weight daily Sexual maturation occurred during the natural breeding season of red drum Approximately 43 spawns were recorded by the end of July and continuing to mid September with mean number of 66 5 millions of eggs collected overall on spawn period Batch fecundity 3 325 10 6 ova per female and relative fecundity 361 41 ova g body weight were calculated Fertilisation rate was 30 to 80 Larvae were hatched at a mean total length of 2 40 0 33 mm and showed a gradual increase in size of approximately 0 378 mm day for the first 40 day after hatching DAH Cannibalism was

    2015 Jeretina Prediction of standard lactation curves for primiparous Holstein cows by using corrected regression models Janez Jeretina Drago Babnik Dejan Škorjanc DOI http dx doi org 10 4081 ijas 2015 3776 Janez Jeretina Kmetijski Inštitut Slovenije Ljubljana Slovenia Drago Babnik Kmetijski Inštitut Slovenije Ljubljana Slovenia Dejan Škorjanc Oddelek za živinorejo University of Mariboru Mariboru Slovenia dejan skorjanc um si Abstract Prediction of the expected milk yield is important for the management of the primiparous cows PPC with a few or no data on their own milk productivity We developed a system of regression equations for predicting milk yields in standard lactation The models include the systematic effects of the calving season the five year rolling herd average of milk yield of PPC the breeding values of the parents for milk production and daily milk recordings A total of 21 901 lactations of Holstein PPC were collected during the regular monthly milk recordings of cows in the Republic of Slovenia By including daily milk recordings in the model the coefficients of determination of regression models for the prediction of milk yield increase without known recordings M0 R 2 0 80 with one recording M1 R 2 0 82 with two first consecutive recordings M2 R 2 0 86 and with three recordings M3 R 2 0 89 Deviations of milk yield up to 500 kg in a standard lactation 1 6 kg day were as follows with the model M0 they occurred in 53 4 of PPC with M1 they occurred in 56 3 of PPC with M2 they occurred in 64 5 of PPC and with M3 they occurred in 70 9 of PPC We concluded that the developed system of regression models is an appropriate method for milk yield prediction of PPC Keywords Primiparous cows Milk yield Prediction
