    year more than 300 people are introduced to paddling through PCC training courses The ACA presented Philadelphia Canoe Club with its prestigious Stroke of Achievement Award for superior performance and program development in 2000 and 2005 The mill serving as the venerable home of PCC is a fascinating stone structure that was in commercial operation for many decades Located on Fairmount Park property the building formerly known as Colony Castle houses many fine examples of hand crafted wooden canoes and kayaks built by members over the years On display is a restored 34 foot 1911 Old Town War Canoe which is taken out a few times a year and paddled on the Schuylkill River Philadelphia Canoe Club members lead trips on a diverse selection of rivers throughout the region and continent On any given weekend during the paddling season there may be as many as a half dozen trips scheduled on both flat water and whitewater destinations Local rivers and streams paddled include the Schuylkill Delaware Lehigh Tohickon Nescopeck Batsto Mullica Wading Oswego Maurice Toms Great Egg Harbor Cedar Creek Brandywine Creek and Westecunk Creek Other popular destinations include the Hudson Potomac New Gauley Ottawa Black Salmon Youghiogheny Cheat Tygart Big Sandy and Deerfield Canoe camping trips include excursions on the Upper Delaware the many rivers of the Adirondacks the rivers and lakes of Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario the rivers of the New Jersey pine barrens and Florida Keys The club publishes a monthly newsletter the CaNews which highlights events and people Bookmark Search this post with Twitter Facebook Like Linkedin Share Button Share on Facebook Home About PCC General Infomation Club Meetings Club Officers Contact History Membership Lessons Whitewater Intermediate Kayak and Canoe 1 Day Novice Whitewater Kayaking and canoeing 4 Day June 1 4 5 11 12

    asks you to list all activities in which you have participated The more activities in which you participate the easier it will be to approve your application 2 Give your completed application to our Membership Chair along with an Application Fee of 25 3 Your application will then be reviewed by the Board of Directors If approved by them you will be introduced to the Membership at the next General Meeting 4 After six months you will be asked to complete a summary of activities you have done with the club during your cadidacy time Your application will then go before the Board of Directors again and your proposer or endorser will present your application for approval 5 If it is again approved you will be presented to the Membership at the next General Meeting At this meeting the attending Members will be asked to vote you into Membership 6 If you are voted into Membership you will be required to pay your prorated dues If all steps are completed you will receive a key to the Clubhouse and a Membership Directory Memership Expectations Dues 140 00 per year pro rated based on date of election Membership dues do not fully defray the costs of running the Club or maintaining the Building and Grounds Becoming and remaining a Member requires an active contribution to PCC This includes but is not limited to Paddling This is our first priority Training Improve your skills Consider becoming a Certified Instructor Social Functions Participate Paddling Trips Participate in and or organize trips depending on your skill level Contribute Work days special projects Open House Newsletter Pool Sessions Committees Board of Directors Benefits of Membership Boat Berth Rental Subject to availability 40 year Locker Rental Subject to availability 25 year Reduced Training Trip and Event
