  • Fun Trivia: Golden Books | Carle Museum
the exhibit was in our gallery 1 The Poky Little Puppy illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren  No surprise here as it s the bestselling picture book of all time according to Leonard Marcus s Golden Legacy 2 I Can Fly illustrated by Mary Blair  Definitely the surprise hit of the show  I discovered Mary Blair s art through this exhibition and now I don t know how I lived without it  Apparently many other customers agreed with me 3 The Fire Engine Book illustrated by Tibor Gergely  This was probably the 1 book hardest to keep in stock as it was a big hit with both nostalgic adults AND fire truck crazy kids 4 The Color Kittens  A win win book here with words by prolific Margaret Wise Brown and the sweetest illustrations by husband wife pair Alice and Martin Provensen 5 Scuffy the Tugboat  Another Tibor Gergely gem here which actually tied in number of sales with The Color Kittens And since we did have a tie let s throw one more in there 6 Doctor Dan The Bandage Man illustrated by Corinne Malvern  Hard to believe that so many years later this little book still comes with a free band aid Even though we loved having the original artwork from the Golden Books here at The Carle we are so excited for our upcoming exhibit of Antonio Frasconi s work to open March 16th  Make sure you come visit by Eliza Brown Tags alice and martin provensen bestselling corinne malvern golden books gustaf tenggren margaret wise brown mary blair tibor gergely This entry was posted on Tuesday March 2nd 2010 at 4 52 pm and is filed under Book Lists by Theme You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2 0 feed You can leave a response or trackback from your own site Leave a reply Your name Mail will not be published Website Share CAPTCHA This question is for testing whether or not you are a human visitor and to prevent automated spam submissions Contributors Eliza Brown Categories A Closer Look 1 Authors Illustrators 50 Book Finder 4 Book Lists by Theme 65 Books for Ages 0 3 35 Books for Ages 3 6 86 Books for Ages 6 12 37 Books for Teens Adults 10 Books We Love 42 Books Holiday Seasonal 17 Books Non Fiction 5 Books Poetry 3 Bookselling 15 Caterpillar Reviews 1 Children s Book Industry News 38 Events at The Carle 107 Exhibitions at The Carle 18 Friday Favorite 7 Gift Ideas 6 Giveaways 24 Just for Fun 11 Media 11 Musings 28 Picture Book Puzzlers 88 Products We Love 16 Recommended Books 165 Resources 5 Top of the Shelf 109 Archive December 2015 6 September 2015 1 February 2015 1 October 2014 1 September 2014 2 July 2014 3 June 2014 4 May 2014 5 April 2014 5 March 2014 11 February 2014 3 January 2014 2 November 2013
