    About Us School Profile Pocono Mountain East High School Pocono Mountain East High School is located in Swiftwater Pennsylvania and is situated on the Pocono Mountain School District s Swiftwater Campus Constructed in 1993 the building houses 85 instructional areas along with a 400 seat cafeteria a 1200 seat auditorium and a 3000 seat gymnasium The school operated on a 4 x 4 block schedule through June 2013 but switched to a traditional 6 period schedule in the fall of 2013 The school has 1453 students in grades 9 through 12 A demographic snapshot of the student body reveals that 58 are Caucasian 21 are African American 19 are Latino Hispanic and 2 are Asian Additionally 44 of the students are economically disadvantaged With a professional teaching staff of 115 the student to classroom teacher ratio is approximately 13 1 For the class of 2016 all students needed a minimum of 24 credits to graduate with content area requirements listed below English 4 courses Mathematics 4 courses Science 3 courses Electives 8 courses Social Studies 3 courses PE Health 2 courses Additionally all students must demonstrate proficiency in math and reading through the Keystone Assessments or the local Pathways to Proficiency program Students enrolled in a program of study at the Monroe County Technical Institute MCTI attend East High School for one half of the day and MCTI for the other half day The current graduation rate is 92 Course grading is done on a percentage scale from 0 100 with a minimum passing grade of 65 Students may select from Advanced Placement AP Honors Academic or Applied course offerings AP and Honors grades are weighted for GPA purposes only with 4 and 2 respectively 74 of graduates attend trade 2 year or 4 year college programs after graduat io

    Welcome back to the staff and students of Pocono Mountain East High School I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with such a dynamic faculty and student body As the assistant principal responsible for Grade 10 and Grade 9 G O I look forward to working with students and families throughout the year My goal is to provide each student with guidance as he she sets high expectations for academic success and enjoys the benefits of getting involved in all our school has to offer A majority of my career in education has been in the Pocono Mountain School District I am confident in my belief that this district works hard to provide a quality experience for our students on their journey to become successful citizens Our staff strives to challenge students academically support them and model the Cardinal way As a mother of 3 two of which are currently students at Swiftwater Elementary Center I feel that Pocono Mountain provides our students and families with educational and extra curricular opportunities to become successful well rounded young adults upon graduation I am proud to be member professionally and personally of the East High School and Cardinal community Mark Lemoncelli Assistant Principal I would like to extend a warm welcome to all East High School students as we begin the 2015 2016 school year East High School is a tremendous learning community which affords our students a number of excellent academic and extra curricular opportunities I would like to encourage all students to become active members of the East High School community and to be prepared to excel each and every day High school is an extremely important time academically We have an exceptional group of teachers who want all students to succeed If you are in need
