that will refuse to implement the cutbacks If one senior manager refused to implement cutbacks and his replacement followed suit and then his replacement did the same the government would have to go back to the drawing board But there is not one of them prepared to stand up and be counted because they are all so well minded They re not going to upset the apple cart Why forgo a pension and golden handshake when you can just keep the little people Reply With Quote 22 03 2011 06 41 PM 15 whydontwe View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Senior Member Join Date Oct 2010 Posts 730 health cuts I m angry I m very angry at the moment I ve recently been told after a year of exams that I have the early stages of bowel cancer I also have heart disease and arthritis in my spine and extremities and mole problems Now I ve learned to put up with the pain of the arthritis and not to expect speedy observation of my bones because Ireland doesn t do speedy unless your wealthy what is annoying is I had to wait a year for each of the other health complaints to see an expert for 5 minutes After 4 bowel preps exams a year to be told that I have early stage cancer and come back in a year we ll do another test well sorry I feel so angry I want Harney to come back from her 150 000 pension holiday and publicly explain why she could get these exams in days and resolution in weeks when people like me may die

most essential frontline services However it is inevitable that some impact on service delivery will be experienced through the implementation of these measures The 130m of cost reduction measures is in addition to other non operational measures to be undertaken that have been submitted to the Troika These non operational measures include cash acceleration of receipts from health insurers and the transfer of surplus money within the health group of votes such as the NTPF Amongst the cost reduction measures included within the 130m are 37m through cash and stock management initiatives 26 5m through savings in medical equipment non capital furniture education training office expenses travel and subsistence and advertising 35m through reductions in the usage of agency and overtime in line with the targets set in the HSE Service Plan of reductions of 50 in agency and 10 in overtime 6m savings on reimbursements for certain products including Glucosamine Orlistat and Omega 3 Triglycerides 10 8m through the reduction of Home Help hours This involves a reduction of 5 5 from the 11 million hours 195m budget provided annually The impact of these reductions will be minimised by ensuring that services are provided for direct patient care 1 7m through the reduction of 200 Home Care Packages per month This accounts for a reduction of 3 7 from the 5 300 packages 140m budget delivered annually The impact of these reductions will be minimised by achieving greater efficiency in the packages currently provided 10 8m through the reduction of Personal Assistant hours from the current 1 4 billion budget for the provision of disability services 2m through savings in the procurement of medical equipment This relates to non capital equipment only Each of the Regional Directors of Operations is working with their staff to develop implementation plans in order to give effect to these measures While many of the measures are already underway currently further plans will be developed and discussed with staff and unions over the coming week While implementing these plans the health services will at all times attempt to minimise the impact on frontline services and ensure that patient client quality and safety is maintained to the highest standard possible We cannot withdraw our cards from the game Were we as silent and mute as stones our very passivity would be an act Please Post them Here Paul Cullen in the IT reported back on September 12th that the number of people waiting 18 months or more for treatment has risen dramatically The number of people waiting more than 18 months for inpatients or day case treatment has soared 7 100 per cent since late June while long waiters on outpatients lists are up 465 per cent More than 11 000 people have been waiting more than 18 months for outpatients and more than 1 300 patients are waiting for inpatient or daycase treatment As with housing cuts have begun to have a catastrophic effect on the delivery of basic services Waiting for hospital admittance on a trolley in A and E has become normalised A and E nurses called off a strike today to discuss some kind of a deal on staffing that has been offered Having driven thousands of very expensively trained nurses out of the country the Government is now offering some paltry financial inducements to get them back again From what I ve heard it will not be enough Cuts in permanent staff have been parallel with increases in use of agency staff which is more expensive but of course profitable for the agency We cannot withdraw our cards from the game Were we used to believe that there was an otherworld where our relatives went when they died When we had encampments rather than towns and villages the dead were buried nearby so that on certain occasions we could interact with them Its possible Trows are the ghost of that early society and a dim cultural memory along with the leprechauns being maybe the disappeared Fir Bolg when they were eventually how long but many tales handed down via the oral tradition and now written could be the vapours of that interaction as far as we know I love a story told by a playwright some years ago who spent time at a Traveller camp living with them for research for a play he was writing He used to notice this old woman looking as if she was going to speak to him and changing her mind on a few occasions Eventually she spoke to him as he was packing up to go back to Dublin Are you going to write a story I am missus he replied Will there be ghosts in it The surprised playwright asked her whether there should be ghosts in it Yes Why Because now with the electric light they have nowhere to go With that she wandered off Think National Act Local Oh and superstition is just the dark matter of human
