Russia have agreed to trade in the yuan and rouble instead of the dollar Russia and China have lifted restrictions on trade in the rubles and the yuan in a bid to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation following the results of a meeting between Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao on Tuesday This is a serious step forward towards creating better trade conditions and this is the result of the strengthening of our economies Putin said The restrictions were lifted after Russia and China signed a protocol on amendments on Tuesday to the existing Russian Chinese trade and economic cooperation agreement dated March 5 1992 The document was signed by Russian Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Savatyugin and Chinese Deputy Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng Until now under our previous agreements we made mutual settlements exclusively in foreign currency first of all in U S dollars and now as the first step trade in Russian rubles has started on the forex exchange in China and at the beginning of December trade in the yuan will begin in Moscow Putin said In 2002 Russia and China started an experiment in their border areas which allowed Russian and Chinese banks to open ruble and yuan accounts A year later the Bank of Russia and the People s Bank of China signed an agreement on trade in national currencies According to Viktor Melnikov Deputy Chairman of the Russian Central Bank Russian Chinese trade from 2003 to 2010 in the border areas jumped more than 900 percent while absolute volumes are not as high as some

fighting wars China s surplus savings leaves them at an advantage because America is tapped out Ironically China has become more capitalist than America however with the capital In the past the Japanese bought Rockefeller Center Pebble Beach and other trophy assets at their highs This time the Chinese are in same position as the Japanese but rather than buy golf courses or skyscrapers they are utilising their dollar based IOUs to feed their engine of growth However the value of the Chinese holdings of US Treasuries is declining so instead of money losing treasuries China has diversified by buying resources companies that produce those resources and other hard assets China is already big in Africa and has struck energy deals in Brazil Russia and in some cases right in America s backyard So far China has almost 1 7 percent of its foreign currency reserves in gold in contrast to the 10 percent average held by other major economies The euro itself is backed by 15 percent gold We expect China to boost its reserves beyond the tiny 1 054 tonne holding however to get to five percent it would need to purchase almost two years of the world s new supply According to state owned China National Gold Corporation China will produce some 320 tonnes of gold this year first in the world for the third year in a row Chinese imports in the first ten months of this year soared more than 200 tonnes increasing five fold from last year reflecting strong consumer demand Gold ownership was banned from 1945 until 2003 when China allowed citizens to own gold and today there is even a futures market Gold can now be added to the list of commodities where China is the world s largest buyer We believe that China will buy gold instead of buying more money losing Treasuries or real estate and the gold mania has just begun http www safehaven com article 193 wars and china Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich by promising to Re Currency Wars U S is Tomb Maker China Economist Fed Issues 600 billion dollars Thats really interesting there DCon and I ve been watching China for maybe twenty years now from first noticing the wave of growth figures with China sitting on top posting figures that were unimaginable anywhere else in the world I m kind of surprised that the author says China is two thirds the size of the US by what measure I wonder The one thing I m absolutely sure of is that their economic and political strategies are closely linked when it comes to investment abroad Their investment arm CIC the sovereign fund is as big a player if not bigger than Goldman Sachs now I reckon and very few have heard of it outside the economics pages Apart from that I ve noticed that a number of big Hong Kong players multibillionaires such as Li Sha King have been making big purchases abroad via acquisitions made by their Hong Kong companies I wonder how many English people know that a Hong Kong businessman who has close links with the Chinese politburo owns a signficant section of railway infrastructure in the South East of England Besides a power station and the high speed rail link to the channel tunnel I suspect strongly that the Chinese political leadership is now very much au fait with using economics as a strategic tool and I see China now being in the position globally that Reagan was over Soviet Russia in the late 80 s With the ability to tailspin the dollar at a stroke yes this would inflict pain on its own people but China is the best positioned to cope with that domestically of all major powers My favourite way to assess US China relations in the past 20 years has been to say that the US has been playing Risk while the Chinese have been playing Monopoly China holds the bank Think rights that I think was another little flexing of the new geopolitical muscle the Chinese hold Their move into Africa has been pretty seamless and they are probably as influential there now as the Americans and maybe more so in some areas Also another poster reminded me of a few military incidents in the last couple of years one where a Chinese sub surfaced completely undetected near a US navy ship That must have shaken the Americans who ve always looked for technical superiority Both the Chinese and the Russians have been overhauling their technical ability and with that unnerving display of destroying an old satellite by laser a couple of years back the Chinese have nearly completed a round of demonstrations of ingenuity now The only thing that can go wrong now for the Chinese is to get drawn into shortball games like Korea or Taiwan but then it may suit them to keep western eyes off the longball game Either way I think the Chinese in geopolitical terms are close to having irretrievably beaten the Yanks at their own game capitalism Maybe someone should teach Americans mah jongg Think National Act Local Oh and superstition is just the dark matter of human history Reply America is all too aware of the threat imposed by modern diesel electric submarines with air independent propulsion AIP which can remain submerged for up to 90 days and are harder to detect when running silent on batteries than most nuclear powered submarines as they permanently emmit noise from their always on reactor and pump system After the incident mentioned by the Cap n involving a Chinese AIP submarine and USS Kitty Hawk the US Navy borrowed HMS Gotland and her crew which had a quite remarkable track record as the enemy in previous war games in the Atlantic and Mediterranean for one year of extensive ASW training in the Pacific Also not all her adversaries have a nuclear arsenal and those who do may think twice before smashing nukes into an American carrier group Besides a carrier group is much better protected against incoming missiles which are usually cruise missiles if nuclear tipped and thus rather slow through their AEGIS air defense system the Phalanx cannons literally shredder everything with an insane firing rate of 5 000 rounds per minute You can also forget about delivering bombs or air to surface missiles with fighter planes they simply wouldn t get within range just can t beat the old torpedo when it comes to efficiency and payload Last edited by TotalMayhem 19 12 2010 at 02 02 AM Thus all which you call Sin Destruction in brief Evil that is my Issues 600 billion dollars Good summary here of how screwed teh U S is 25 Signs That The Coming Financial Collapse Is Now Closer Then Ever 1 The official U S unemployment rate has not been beneath 9 percent since April 2009 2 According to the U S Census Bureau there are currently 6 3 million vacant homes in the United States that are either for sale or for rent 3 It is being projected that the U S trade deficit with China could hit 270 billion dollars for the entire year of 2010 4 Back in 2000 7 2 percent of blue collar workers were either unemployed or underemployed Today that figure is up to 19 5 percent 5 The Chinese government has accumulated approximately 2 65 trillion in total foreign exchange reserves They have drained this wealth from the economies of other nations such as the United States and instead of reinvesting all of it they are just sitting on much of it This is creating tremendous imbalances in the global economy 6 Since the year 2000 we have lost 10 of our middle class jobs In the year 2000 there were approximately 72 million middle class jobs in the United States but today there are only about 65 million middle class jobs 7 The United States now employs about the same number of people in manufacturing as it did back in 1940 Considering the fact that we had 132 million people living in this country in 1940 and that we have well over 300 million people living in this country today that is a very sobering statistic 8 According to CoreLogic U S housing prices have now declined for three months in a row 9 The average rate on a 30 year fixed rate mortgage soared 11 basis points just this past week As mortgage rates continue to push higher it is going to make it even more difficult for American families to afford homes 10 22 5 percent of all residential mortgages in the United States were in negative equity as of the end of the third quarter of 2010 11 The U S monetary base has more than doubled since the beginning of the most recent recession 12 U S Treasury yields have been rising steadily during the 4th quarter of 2010 and recently hit a six month high 13 Incoming governor Jerry Brown is scrambling to find 29 billion more to cut from the California state budget The following quote from Brown about the desperate condition of California state finances is not going to do much to inspire confidence in California s financial situation around the globe We ve been living in fantasy land It is much worse than I thought I m shocked 14 24 3 percent of the residents of El Centro California are currently unemployed 15 The average home in Merced California has declined in value by 63 percent over the past four years 16 Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has come up with a new way to save money He wants to cut 20 percent of Detroit off from essential social services such as road repairs police patrols functioning street lights and garbage collection 17 The second most dangerous city in the United States Camden New Jersey is about to lay off about half its police in a desperate attempt to save money 18 In 2010 55 percent of Americans between the ages of 60 and 64 were in the labor market Ten years ago that number was just 47 percent More older Americans than ever find that they have to keep working just to survive 19 Back in 1998 the United States had 25 percent of the world s high tech export market and China had just 10 percent Ten years later the United States had less than 15 percent and China s share had soared to 20 percent 20 The U S government budget deficit increased to a whopping 150 4 billion last month which represented the biggest November budget deficit on record 21 The U S government is somehow going to have to roll over existing debt and finance new debt that is equivalent to 27 8 percent of GDP in 2011 22 The United States had been

to Ireland cos that sounds just like more of the same no but then again you had to translate the comment by the new Finn member now imagine the pain if i have to send you private msg to find out what thread titles mean Welcome new Finn member On Cameron action i also thought it was a move to dissuade the Scots from leaving his Union right somehow i am placing these events close together but i could be wrong Brexit will affect no countries more than Ireland and the UK The trade between the 2 countries is massive We are their fifth largest export market and they are our largest export market There s over 50 billion of trade at stake and tackling the UK market is a stepping stone for Irish SMEs who are finding their way into International exporting The implications of a shutdown or imposition of customs on the Republic Of Ireland UK border is horrific for business and social interactions in both states Northern Ireland has become increasingly intertwined with the Republic and we are to them what the UK is to us in terms of a major market and stepping stone for business In my company we regularly get multi million projects from northern companies and there is now the guts of a UI trade wise with far more interaction between the two states than in the past We could be stumbling into a serious situation There are implications for the USA UK EU nexus and the piggy in the middle positions of Ireland and the UK in that nexus The USA has already slotted us in as part of a greater UK in their plans if the UK is outside the EU then the US will reassess where we fit into their European relations and Ireland will be hung ho to steal business from the UK and vice versa in a post Brexit environment I think the threads should be merged under the title Brexit the most successful man in life is the man who has the best information Reply With Quote 02 02 2016 02 44 AM 28 pluralist View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Senior Member Join Date Feb 2014 the balance in favour of a UI as 91 2 of nationalist voters are against NI leaving the EU a position largely shared by neutrals in NI and close to the opposite of how Unionists feel After a Brexit the UK may be much more keen to keep the territory it holds to the West or not and it could arm and wind up Loyaists to cause chaos and bloodshed if a UI vote was on the cards and not wanted by London
