    Poly s News Archive Our Program Academics Athletics Upper School Middle School Lower School Poly Prep Summer Academic Excellence Honor Societies Performing Arts Visual Arts Technology Sustainability Diversity Library Policies Health Safety Explore Poly Prep Summer News Calendar News Daily Calendar Athletics Calendar Photos Videos Poly Publications Parents Bus Schedules Lunch Menus Alumni Performing Arts Home Admissions Welcome to Poly Upper School Middle School Lower School Tuition Financial Aid Meet the Admissions Staff Take a Virtual Tour Giving Giving Guide Poly Fund Tower Society Matching Gifts Give Online Performing Arts Poly Fund 2015 16 Search Strategic Initiative 1 STRATEGIC CHALLENGE The United States faces a well documented shortage in undergraduates and graduate students training in STEM disciplines as well as young professionals in these fields both in academia and in business This shortage is particularly acute among women and people of color Such shortages also have serious long term implications for American global competitiveness given that STEM disciplines are predicted to be key drivers of 21 st century intellectual and economic innovation A lack of well trained secondary school students who are also highly motivated to study STEM disciplines is a major factor in the shortfall of scientists mathematicians engineers and technologists in the coming decades In addition the increasing use of technology to enhance learning in other disciplines will require a bold innovative and comprehensive N 12 th grade computer science curriculum and greater use of computing and technology in the classroom The related need for ongoing faculty staff professional development in technology will also grow Moreover Advancement Enrollment Management and Operations Finance will require significant continuing investment in computing and technology Finally Poly faces competition from peer independent schools which are strengthening their computer science curricula and administrative computing capabilities and rapid and constant technological innovation STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE

    School Tuition Financial Aid Meet the Admissions Staff Take a Virtual Tour Giving Giving Guide Poly Fund Tower Society Matching Gifts Give Online Performing Arts Poly Fund 2015 16 Search Strategic Initiative 7 STRATEGIC CHALLENGE As Poly fulfills its new mission to educate its students as global leaders who will act with imagination intelligence and above all character our co curricular program becomes even more central to the country day school experience Performing arts athletics after school programs clubs and activities all provide safe but challenging venues in which students can take risks experiment exercise leadership learn resilience and collaboration find faculty mentors join peer learning communities and take positive action in the community while applying skills and ideas from the classroom in real world situations competitions and performances As Poly enhances its core academics student services and facilities the school cannot lose sight of the quality and mission based relevance of its after school learning program in all three divisions STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE Poly must assess and evaluate its co curricular initiatives to ensure they are mission based effective and meet the needs of its students while strengthening the connection between classroom learning and learning beyond the classroom walls Coaching
