    Planning Commission Tri County Health Council School Collaborative TriCounty Community Network Momentum One Good Thing Resources Foundation News Community Benefit Report Studies Reports Healthy Living Mission Healthy Living Healthy Hub Upcoming Events Videos Blog Recipes Fun Fitness Trending Updates eBooks Share on print St John s Lutheran Church and PAHWF Donate 10 000 to Boyertown YMCA Kim Moeller center Fitness Coordinator at the Boyertown YMCA accepting two 5 000 checks to fund an after school exercise program at the five after school locations of the YMCA Pottstown PA August 24 2015 The smile on the face of Kim Moeller Fitness Coordinator at the Boyertown YMCA was caused by two 5 000 checks recently given to her to fund an after school exercise program at the five after school locations of the YMCA Recognizing the need to engage children in an exercise program at an early age to combat the childhood overweight problem Nan Moyer RN Parish Nurse at St John s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Boyertown thought a very effective way to reach many children was through the After School Program at the Y With a 5 000 commitment from the St John s Congregational Council Moyer applied for a matching 5 000 grant to the Pottstown Area Health Wellness Foundation PAHWF The uniqueness of the program and recognizing the need to have children engage in physical exercise brought an enthusiastic and quick commitment for the matching 5 000 grant from PAHWF Upon accepting the two checks Moeller stated I am passionate about physical fitness for all ages and particularly for children to learn the benefits of exercise early Continuing Moeller explained each of the five after school locations will have a qualified fitness instructor one day a week to teach the children and staff exercises that can be repeated

    One Good Thing Resources Foundation News Community Benefit Report Studies Reports Healthy Living Mission Healthy Living Healthy Hub Upcoming Events Videos Blog Recipes Fun Fitness Trending Updates eBooks Share on print Pottstown Area Health Wellness Foundation Announces Hollenbach Park as 10 000 Grand Prize Winner of 2nd Annual On Your Park Get Set Go Contest Members of Hollenbach Park s Open Space Board accepting its 10 000 prize check as first place winners of the On Your Park Get Set Go contest Pottstown PA August 1 2015 The Pottstown Area Health Wellness Foundation a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance the health and wellness of area residents by providing education funding and programs is delighted to declare Hollenbach Park as the grand prize recipient of its 2nd annual On Your Park Get Set Go contest Collecting an impressive total number of 18 827 votes many of which were interactive and required a visit to the park itself from its local residents throughout the month of July Hollenbach Park triumphed over its 13 competitors to claim the 10 000 grant offered by the Foundation for park improvements The park plans to use its winnings to develop the trail system in the park and purchase playground equipment We couldn t be more overjoyed to witness the extraordinary level of support and more importantly active involvement On Your Park received this year From Montgomery County to Berks County and in between having the ability to reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle by visiting your favorite park counts as a win for all said Foundation President Dave Kraybill In addition to Hollenbach Park two other parks were recognized as first runner up and second runner up respectively Pineland Park was crowned the second place winner and will receive 7 500 towards adding

    Living Healthy Hub Upcoming Events Videos Blog Recipes Fun Fitness Trending Updates eBooks Share on print Pottstown Area Health Wellness Foundation Announces Changes left to right David Kraybill Executive Director Robert Boyce retired Board member left to right Retired board members Charles Palladino Kenn Picardi Sharon Weaver Scott Detar Milt Martyny Pottstown PA September 29 2014 The Pottstown Area Health Wellness Foundation announces changes in Board leadership As of July 1 2014 six of the Foundation s Board members have retired Over the past 11 years the following members have held either the title of President Vice President Secretary or Treasurer of the Executive Committee In addition they have served as chairs for multiple committees such as Strategic Planning Finance Grants Program Marketing Communications Robert Boyce Scott Detar Milton Martyny Charles Palladino and Sharon Weaver are five of the original Board of Directors created on July 1 2003 at the time of the sale of Pottstown Memorial Medical Center to Community Health Systems Mr Kenn Picardi joined the Board in 2005 They have all played an integral part in forming the Pottstown Area Health Wellness Foundation according to Dave Kraybill Foundation President They each brought their own unique personalities expertise and passion for health and wellness to the Board Their dedication and leadership has helped guide the Foundation in fulfilling its mission of motivating people to adopt healthy lifestyles In an effort to fill the vacant seats created by the retirement of these six Board members the Foundation has appointed five new Board members B Douglas Trainer joined the Board in October 2013 Doug is a Vice President and Senior Financial Consultant at National Penn Investment Services Debora Zelle M Ed B S N RN CSN a certified school nurse at Upper Providence Elementary School is also the Department Chair
