  • A better me
but I m doing my best to choose healthier fresher options when it comes to eating I m also a mindless snacker I can go through an entire bag of snacks without realizing it if I m distracted doing other things So I ve been incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet as well as more protein I m also working hard at increasing my daily water intake I write down on a notepad on my desk how many ounces I want to drink and by what time of the day This really helps me to focus and make sure I m staying hydrated throughout the day It s definitely something I struggle with but I m getting better No more soda for me And as I type this I m STANDING at my new desk which was just installed this morning Yes you read that right standing I can alter the height of the desk so that I can get some extra movement throughout the work day instead of being sedentary for the entire day I m so excited and it truly is the little things in life that can make a day that much better No matter what you do it s the effort put forth that really makes all the difference I can honestly say I m already starting to feel better and have more energy with just the small changes I ve made thus far Do what works for you and change little things here and there You ll be glad you did Wishing you all a wonderful healthy week Tags Believe in yourself better you embrace life getting better Healthy Living Healthy living journey living happy physical well being Read more posts by Skye Tulio Related Health is not just a six letter word 2 February 2015 Time Alone and Loving It 9 February 2015 Heart Health 16 February 2015 Hospital Usage and High Utilization 27 February 2015 Too blessed to be stressed 16 April 2015 0 Comments Comment Submission Name Email Website Message Subscribe Back to Mission Healthy Living Latest Posts April 25 2016 Breathe in breathe out April 19 2016 ACE Study April 11 2016 Be Kind April 1 2016 Sunny Days Ahead March 21 2016 Easter Week Authors Skye Tulio Tags balance 1 motherhood 1 peace 1 positive influence 1 teenagers 1 2016 1 ACE Study 1 ACES 2 adversity 2 aging 2 balance 3 Believe in yourself 3 better you 4 Blizzard 2016 1 calm 1 change 2 Change 1 Cold weather 2 commit 1 commitment 1 common cold 1 communication 1 ComNet15 1 confidence 1 courage 1 David P Gallagher 1 Easter 1 embrace life 4 families 3 family time 1 Fathers Day 1 fitness 1 Friday 1 friendship 1 getting better 2 getting to sleep 2 Go Green 1 gut instinct 1 happiness 5 healing 2 Healthcare costs 1 Healthy Living 26 Healthy living journey 2 Heart attack risk 1 Heart Health 1 holiday season 2 holidays 1

  • Snowed in
many my family and I were snowed in this past weekend thanks to Winter Storm Jonas and the record breaking amounts of snow it brought to our area While I m not a big fan of the cold and snow I love weekends like this Time where my family and I can spend time together and not worry about the ten million things we normally have going on This weekend everything was canceled and we got to enjoy not only the beautiful winter wonderland outside although I had other thoughts when I couldn t find my car the next day but also each other s company There is nothing better than spending time with the ones you love espcially when its not done as often as you would like Sure it was a lounge weekend but sometimes we forget to stop what we re doing in all that we have going on and just enjoy life Besides we made up for it the next day shoveling ourselves out of all that snow Hope everyone enjoyed their snowed in weekend and are dug out Be careful while out and about today Tags Blizzard 2016 families Healthy Living Winter Winter Storm Jonas Read more posts by Skye Tulio Related Health is not just a six letter word 2 February 2015 Time Alone and Loving It 9 February 2015 Heart Health 16 February 2015 Hospital Usage and High Utilization 27 February 2015 Too blessed to be stressed 16 April 2015 0 Comments Comment Submission Name Email Website Message Subscribe Back to Mission Healthy Living Latest Posts April 25 2016 Breathe in breathe out April 19 2016 ACE Study April 11 2016 Be Kind April 1 2016 Sunny Days Ahead March 21 2016 Easter Week Authors Skye Tulio Tags balance 1 motherhood 1 peace 1 positive influence 1 teenagers 1 2016 1 ACE Study 1 ACES 2 adversity 2 aging 2 balance 3 Believe in yourself 3 better you 4 Blizzard 2016 1 calm 1 change 2 Change 1 Cold weather 2 commit 1 commitment 1 common cold 1 communication 1 ComNet15 1 confidence 1 courage 1 David P Gallagher 1 Easter 1 embrace life 4 families 3 family time 1 Fathers Day 1 fitness 1 Friday 1 friendship 1 getting better 2 getting to sleep 2 Go Green 1 gut instinct 1 happiness 5 healing 2 Healthcare costs 1 Healthy Living 26 Healthy living journey 2 Heart attack risk 1 Heart Health 1 holiday season 2 holidays 1 impact 2 inner peace 1 KPJR Films 1 leader 1 Life at the beach 1 life lessons 3 living happy 5 Living Healthier 3 motherhood 1 Moving more 1 music 1 New Hampshire 1 New Job 1 New Year s resolution 1 Night owl 3 night time routine 1 obesity 1 obstacles 1 old age 1 overwhelmed 1 pace 1 parenting 2 peace 3 physical well being 8 power of music 1 problem solving 1 road trip 1 role model 1 Seasons 1 Shenandoah Chefalo

  • Say no to germs
immune system from the dreaded common cold Since I always seem to get sick during this time of year here are a few simple things I vow to do to prevent getting sick Bundle up Never head outside without a jacket and always protect your chest nose and mouth if you can covering it with a scarf Prevent the cold air from taking your breath away literally Sanitize Regularly washing your hands and or using anti bacterial hand sanitizer when hot water and soap is not an immediate option is a must There are so many germs on your hands and they can spread fast Just think how many times you touch your face in one day Yuck Sleep more This is always one of my goals because the amount of time you sleep each night really takes on toll on your energy levels the next day I always feel sluggish and groggy when I don t get enough sleep and it has contributed to my common cold on several occasions Rest rest rest Also don t head into the office when you re sick Take the day off or work from home Don t spread your germs and risk infecting others Wishing you all a healthy germ free winter For more on healthy living check the Mission Healthy Living Healthy Hub Tags common cold Healthy Living physical well being sleep Winter Read more posts by Skye Tulio Related Health is not just a six letter word 2 February 2015 Time Alone and Loving It 9 February 2015 Heart Health 16 February 2015 Hospital Usage and High Utilization 27 February 2015 Too blessed to be stressed 16 April 2015 0 Comments Comment Submission Name Email Website Message Subscribe Back to Mission Healthy Living Latest Posts April 25 2016 Breathe in breathe out April 19 2016 ACE Study April 11 2016 Be Kind April 1 2016 Sunny Days Ahead March 21 2016 Easter Week Authors Skye Tulio Tags balance 1 motherhood 1 peace 1 positive influence 1 teenagers 1 2016 1 ACE Study 1 ACES 2 adversity 2 aging 2 balance 3 Believe in yourself 3 better you 4 Blizzard 2016 1 calm 1 change 2 Change 1 Cold weather 2 commit 1 commitment 1 common cold 1 communication 1 ComNet15 1 confidence 1 courage 1 David P Gallagher 1 Easter 1 embrace life 4 families 3 family time 1 Fathers Day 1 fitness 1 Friday 1 friendship 1 getting better 2 getting to sleep 2 Go Green 1 gut instinct 1 happiness 5 healing 2 Healthcare costs 1 Healthy Living 26 Healthy living journey 2 Heart attack risk 1 Heart Health 1 holiday season 2 holidays 1 impact 2 inner peace 1 KPJR Films 1 leader 1 Life at the beach 1 life lessons 3 living happy 5 Living Healthier 3 motherhood 1 Moving more 1 music 1 New Hampshire 1 New Job 1 New Year s resolution 1 Night owl 3 night time routine 1 obesity 1 obstacles 1

  • Winter is no excuse
so you start warm and stay warm Layers scarves sweaters hats gloves whatever it takes I am the coldest person ever and right now in my office I am wearing insulated under gear a light sweater and a heavy sweater When I came to work I also added a hi tech vest heavy fleece and an outer coat scarf and gloves Plus once you get moving you will be shedding those layers and find yourself roasting I could mention my winter Outward Bound three month program where we trekked and hiked and camped outside including up Mt Washington and had to build ourselves igloos to sleep in on our three day solos but that is another story yet it again emphasizes my point Start warm dress warmly stay warm Too dark too early Think again There is something magical unique and special about a winter night s walk run that is different than any other season Case in point I did my 5k walk run hobble the other night and as I returned to my house I stopped across the street and looked at my house with all the holiday lights on candles in the windows and looked up The sky was clear and the sight of the scene with the stars in the universe stirred me and I began to sing Softly at first then more boldly A special song dear to my heart loud and alone into the night Pure peace and joy just for me So find a way to make winter a special season to find the magic of this precious time of year to be outside and I particularly recommend after dark You ll be surprised at what you find and learn and dress warmly you will never regret it Tags Healthy Living Night owl peace physical well being stress relief tranquility Walking Winter Read more posts by Related Health is not just a six letter word 2 February 2015 Time Alone and Loving It 9 February 2015 Heart Health 16 February 2015 Hospital Usage and High Utilization 27 February 2015 Too blessed to be stressed 16 April 2015 0 Comments Comment Submission Name Email Website Message Subscribe Back to Mission Healthy Living Latest Posts April 25 2016 Breathe in breathe out April 19 2016 ACE Study April 11 2016 Be Kind April 1 2016 Sunny Days Ahead March 21 2016 Easter Week Authors Skye Tulio Tags balance 1 motherhood 1 peace 1 positive influence 1 teenagers 1 2016 1 ACE Study 1 ACES 2 adversity 2 aging 2 balance 3 Believe in yourself 3 better you 4 Blizzard 2016 1 calm 1 change 2 Change 1 Cold weather 2 commit 1 commitment 1 common cold 1 communication 1 ComNet15 1 confidence 1 courage 1 David P Gallagher 1 Easter 1 embrace life 4 families 3 family time 1 Fathers Day 1 fitness 1 Friday 1 friendship 1 getting better 2 getting to sleep 2 Go Green 1 gut instinct 1 happiness 5 healing 2

  • Commit to a better you
Skye Tulio Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try This is my new motto for 2016 Instead of making unrealistic New Year s resolutions that will fall by the wayside I m making the committment to better myself by making the effort to do so To try with smaller steps instead of larger goals that lead to no change Goals are great but making ones you know you ll never put forth the effort to accomplish is just a waste of time in my opinion Make it a year round practice to do things for yourself try new things and step outside of your comfort zone For once put your happiness and health first and focus on your own personal growth Since I have found comfort in making lists lately and the satisfaction that comes with crossing items off once I complete them here s a list goal I am going to try to embrace in the New Year Strive to be the best you can be a little bit each day Wishing everyone a safe healthy and happy new year Tags 2016 Believe in yourself better you change commit happiness Healthy Living impact New Year s resolution well being Read more posts by Skye Tulio Related Health is not just a six letter word 2 February 2015 Time Alone and Loving It 9 February 2015 Heart Health 16 February 2015 Hospital Usage and High Utilization 27 February 2015 Too blessed to be stressed 16 April 2015 0 Comments Comment Submission Name Email Website Message Subscribe Back to Mission Healthy Living Latest Posts April 25 2016 Breathe in breathe out April 19 2016 ACE Study April 11 2016 Be Kind April 1 2016 Sunny Days Ahead March 21 2016 Easter Week Authors Skye Tulio Tags balance 1 motherhood 1 peace 1 positive influence 1 teenagers 1 2016 1 ACE Study 1 ACES 2 adversity 2 aging 2 balance 3 Believe in yourself 3 better you 4 Blizzard 2016 1 calm 1 change 2 Change 1 Cold weather 2 commit 1 commitment 1 common cold 1 communication 1 ComNet15 1 confidence 1 courage 1 David P Gallagher 1 Easter 1 embrace life 4 families 3 family time 1 Fathers Day 1 fitness 1 Friday 1 friendship 1 getting better 2 getting to sleep 2 Go Green 1 gut instinct 1 happiness 5 healing 2 Healthcare costs 1 Healthy Living 26 Healthy living journey 2 Heart attack risk 1 Heart Health 1 holiday season 2 holidays 1 impact 2 inner peace 1 KPJR Films 1 leader 1 Life at the beach 1 life lessons 3 living happy 5 Living Healthier 3 motherhood 1 Moving more 1 music 1 New Hampshire 1 New Job 1 New Year s resolution 1 Night owl 3 night time routine 1 obesity 1 obstacles 1 old age 1 overwhelmed 1 pace 1 parenting 2 peace 3 physical well being 8 power of music 1 problem solving 1 road trip 1 role model 1 Seasons 1 Shenandoah
