    critically acclaimed song cycle for mezzo and chamber ensemble has been performed over forty times in the United States and Europe Her most recent work Hiraeth was co commissioned by the PSO for its 2015 16 season Ellen McLaughlin Ellen McLaughlin s plays have received numerous national and international productions They include Days and Nights Within A Narrow Bed Infinity s House Iphigenia and Other Daughters Tongue of a Bird The Trojan Women Helen The Persians Oedipus Ajax in Iraq Kissing the Floor Septimus and Clarissa and Penelope She has taught playwriting at Barnard College since 1995 Other teaching posts include Breadloaf School of English Yale Drama School and Princeton University among others John Devlin John Devlin s mission as a conductor is to deliver concerts that frame orchestral music in new and innovative ways Mr Devlin currently serves as Music Director and Conductor of both The Gourmet Symphony and the McLean Youth Orchestra In addition to his appointment as Assistant Conductor of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra he serves as cover conductor for Christoph Eschenbach at the National Symphony Orchestra Ms Snider s Penelope addresses themes of homecoming relationships passion and healing Some of these same themes are explored in a more personal way in Ms Snider s recent work Hiraeth co commissioned by the PSO which reflects upon the notion of what it means for a place to feel like home The Sunday May 15 PSO performance of Sarah Kirkland Snider s Hiraeth and surrounding events including the Tuesday May 17 performance of Penelope are supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts CALENDAR LISTING PSO Soundtracks Music and Poetry of Penelope Wednesday May 4 at 7pm Princeton Symphony Orchestra PSO in partnership with the Princeton Public Library presents Music and Poetry of Penelope

    Theatre s A Christmas Carol Community Ensemble Auditions McCarter Theatre s annual tradition of A Christmas Carol will be renewed and reimagined for the stage in December 2016 and will include a Community Ensemble made up of local performers who help bring the story to life This enthusiastic group will perform alongside the professional acting company and fill the streets of London dance with the Fezziwigs carol at Scrooge s doorstep and bring Christmas cheer to every corner of the theater We are actively seeking people of all ages physical abilities races genders and levels of experience to people our ensemble and embody the incredible diversity and talent of our local communities Auditions for people ages 14 up are scheduled for Wednesday April 20 in Lawrenceville at Rider University in the Bart Luddeke Center Theatre 7 00 8 30pm Thursday April 21 in Somerset at The Villagers Theatre on the Main Stage 6 30 8 00 pm and 7 45 9 15pm Saturday April 23 in Hamilton at the Hamilton Area YMCA JKR Branch in the Kids Gym 1 00 2 00 pm Sunday May 1 in Princeton at McCarter Theatre in the Berlind Rehearsal Room 6 00 7 30pm
