    blood pressure polio measles vaccination de worming vitamin A supplements and condom distribution to reach 25 000 people across deprived communities within the Accra and Tema metropolis Ms Marion Bunch Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention Inc said the initiative would improve lives at both the local and international levels by helping families in need in their own communities to work towards a better standard of living and a Polio free world She said this would promote healthy living and disease prevention by providing free comprehensive health care services to tens of thousands of people in underprivileged communities Ms Sherry Ayittey Minister of Health thanked the Rotary family for the numerous health projects they have provided the country over the years and the Rotary Family Health Days campaign which is also in line with efforts being made in assuring healthy lives of all persons living in Ghana She said the Ministry has contributed to the socio economic development by promoting health and vitality through access to quality health for all people living in Ghana using well motivated personnel Ms Ayittey said in spite of the health sectors demonstration of significant progress towards addressing the health needs of persons there are challenges particularly related to the continuing inequities in access to essential health services especially in deprived areas She said because of such challenges the efforts of the Rotary family in Ghana is welcomed It is my expectation that this will become an annual event and coverage extended to cover other regions in the country she said Mr Willie Keteku RFHD steering Committee Chairman and past District Governor said services at the event would include HIV counselling and testing diabetes and blood pressure testing de worming vitamin A supplement polio and measles immunisations mosquito

    AIDS for 14 years I am a trained HIV counselor When I was Diagnosed I had already lost my child and my wife to to the virus All my friends and relatives disowned me by then It was not easy to access ARVS in Kenya but i was determined to survive Stigma is still high in Kenya especially in the Rural areas but my immediate concern now is HIV AIDS orphaned girls They are more stigmatized lot Do you know that this girls miss out in Classes 4 7 days every month simply because they can not afford sanitary pads That is over 70 days a year out of class and still we expect them to perform Nobody is thinking on about this and their under wears and this is a cause of prostitution and spread of the virus They need protection school fees Uniform shelter and food I am requesting anybody or organization that is willing to help this girls Who is willing to support this girls can contact me we join hands and mobilize Sanitary pads for the this girls Send Email 2003 2015 Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention Inc All rights Reserved Rotarians for Family

    off nation wide as well as in countries such as Nigeria Ghana and Kenya The only site located on the West Rand was coordinated by Mogale Tourism s own Dehlia van Staden and Krugersdorp Rotary s Anneas Balt who is the District Chairman of the campaign Rotary SA first pitched the campaign to the Department of Health The overwhelming response from the Department as well as from local and national government was highly appreciated Rotary used their knowledge as the biggest recognisable non government organisation to attract valuable sponsors like Coca Cola SABC USAid and Nampak Government allocated over R224 million towards the project The Living Waters Church gladly made their premises in Soul City available where the organisers of the campaign set up shop Residents were informed via flyers posters and even TV commercials to visit these sites across the country Inside they could find health care workers ready to help assessing they wellbeing Blood pressure tests HIV counselling eye exams dental check ups and women sanitary education were done during these three days The information gathered about these residents was also logged digitally and will be analysed by the CDC for further care Local practitioners such as optometrists Dirk Booysen and Gerrie Kruger together with dentist Dr Dave Jankelowitz volunteered their services A local dietitian provided education on nutrition I have said in various statements that I regard the Health Days as a success from a Rotary perspective before it even started We are doing Gods work and this project will be blessed says Anneas We have to agree that the project is of major proportions No project of this scale has ever been undertaken by Rotary in South Africa In the past few months we have at all levels experienced many emotions perceived and real in the
