    Facts Culture Natural History Request a Presentation Open Government Transparency Public Information Act Home Environmental Sciences Laboratory Services Laboratory Services Print Friendly 2016 ESD Lab Survey The San Antonio River Authority would like to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to meet your analytical needs We value your opinion and would like to know how we can improve your laboratory experience Please complete the 2016 ESD Lab Survey by April 30 2016 and enter your name organization and email address in the final comment box to be entered in a drawing for a one time free analysis up to 25 Ten survey participants will be selected at random and the winner will be contacted two weeks after of the survey closing date Thank you for your participation The San Antonio River Authority laboratory is a NELAP accredited laboratory that provides a wide range of analyses for drinking water and non potable water testing These analyses are available for a small fee to anyone wishing to have their water tested Current lab customers include Municipalities Water purveyors Public Water Systems Wastewater treatment plants Consultants Water bottlers Other laboratories Private Well Owners General Public Storm Water Laboratory Accreditation The SARA Environmental Sciences Laboratory is accredited by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for the analysis of Drinking Water and Non Potable water Please refer to our Fields of Accreditation for Analysis that SARA is accredited to perform Fields of Accreditation Staff Qualifications The laboratory staff consists of degreed professionals from across the state of Texas and beyond The ESD staff are members of professional organizations to stay abreast of developing technologies and regulations The NELAC Institute Alamo Laboratory Analyst Chapter Lead and Copper Monitoring Program The Laboratory is currently one of a few TNI accredited laboratories in Texas offering Lead and

    highly trained staff together with an established and documented quality system ensures the highest level of excellence for laboratory performance NELAP accreditation is also a requirement for laboratories that submit data to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Is there one test that will tell me my water is safe to drink With over 120 different EPA Drinking Water regulated contaminants there is no single test to determine if your water is safe to drink At a minimum consider having your well water tested annually for nitrate and coliform bacteria For additional information on the EPA Drinking Water regulated contaminants we recommend you call the TCEQ Public Drinking Water staff at 512 239 4691 This line is answered 8am 5pm Monday Friday except state holidays Inform the receptionist why you are calling and you will be transferred to the appropriate TCEQ staff member What do I do if my drinking water sample is positive for Total Coliform and or E coli For Public Drinking Water Systems contact the TCEQ Public Drinking Water Section at 512 239 4691 for further instructions For private well clients we recommend disinfecting and retesting your well Disinfection Private Well GI 432 Will the San Antonio River Authority collect my sample s For regulatory reasons the San Antonio River Authority Laboratory does not provide sample collection services for public water systems Sample collection information will be mailed along with the sample containers Please contact the Laboratory Services Coordinator at 210 302 3649 for sampling information and sample containers Does the laboratory provide containers to collect samples Yes the laboratory provides approved sample containers free of charge Contact the Laboratory Services Coordinator to arrange container pickup or delivery Where is the laboratory located The SARA Regional Environmental Laboratory is located at 600 E Euclid Ave San Antonio Texas 78212 Sample delivery entrance is located on Atlanta St between E Euclid Ave and E Elmira St toggle I live in a rural area how would I go about getting my well water tested If the well is a new construction your water well driller may provide water testing along with their services In the event that they do not provide this service either for new or older wells you can contact the San Antonio River Authority Laboratory at 210 302 3649 for additional information Approved sample container s and sampling information can be provided at no charge upon request Who do I contact if I have not received my invoice or report If you have not received your invoice and or analytical report please contact the Laboratory Services Coordinator at 210 302 3649 Who do I contact if I have a question about my invoice or report If you have a question about your invoice and or analytical report please contact the Laboratory Services Coordinator at 210 302 3649 How do I pay for my analysis Payment for analysis is due at the time that samples are submitted Please refer to the current Fee Schedule for current pricing

    Facts Culture Natural History Request a Presentation Open Government Transparency Public Information Act Home Environmental Sciences Environmental Investigators Environmental Investigators Print Friendly One of the ways SARA protects waterways in the San Antonio River Basin is through our Environmental Investigation team Watersheds within the basin are frequently patrolled for illegal activity and environmental crimes When an illegal activity is found an investigation takes place to identify harmful impacts to water quality riparian habitat and human health and safety within the basin The team works closely with other governmental agencies to help resolve environmental and noncompliance issues found within our basin They respond to complaints and communicate with land owners state and local agency officials regulatory officials and the public as necessary to resolve and follow up on emergency situations involving the San Antonio River Basin streams Investigations include but are not limited to Citizen complaints and concerns Fish kills spills permit violations and illegal dumping Habitat destruction Floodplain and encroachment violations Unauthorized activities Working and communicating with the public are important duties of the environmental investigation team They educate the public about how abuse to waterways can cause serious habitat destruction degrade aquatic ecology and completely alter the beauty of a stream Often abuse of the river is due to lack of knowledge A call or visit by the SARA environmental investigations team to explain why something should not be done often stops destructive activities If you see something illegal or hazardous dumped within the San Antonio River Basin your first call should be to your local law enforcement officer Your second call should be to SARA s environmental investigations team at 210 227 1373 or toll free at 1 866 345 7272 They will make sure that the appropriate agencies with enforcement powers are contacted They will also research
