    not lead The Chair may delegate some of this task to a vice chair if appointed The Chair should also plan to send in the preliminary TMRF as soon as possible to identify the parties involved in the meeting to the ACM as well as to get the event entered into the ACM s calendar Treasurer get a copy of the previous year s budget plan Technical Meeting Request Form or TMRF Plan to send in updates to the TMRF periodically The final TMRF with near final budget numbers including final fee schedules estimates for costs etc must go the ACM by early Spring of the year of the meeting Publicity Start gathering email list and check list posting policies end2end interest in particular Start preparing the initial call for papers which must be final about 4 weeks before the previous years Sigcomm event The purpose of that CFP is to announce the location and dates everything else everything including the submission date etc is subject to change e g when the final CFP comes out in early Fall Web Coordinate with the publicity chair to pick a logo for the conference and prepare a shadow website for the meeting The primary website is a conferences sigcomm org sigcomm XXXX this should be a copy of your local shadow site The Sigcomm site should NEVER point to the local site however Local Arrangements Start scouting locations and prepare a list of alternatives for consideration Do not discuss costs or contact venues for availability the ACM will do that Note that the budget does NOT provide for professional assistance with local arrangements Workshop Start preparing the call for workshop proposals this should be included in the initial call for papers Tutorial Decide whether tutorials will be offered and prepare the call

    put together to state clear behavior rules for conference attendees and identify contacts when violations are observed This will be reviewed and then published Keshav and Renata are to serve as the contact points together with the respective general conference chairs A strategic vision on how conferences in the SIGCOMM community should evolve has been discussed repeatedly but a vision is yet to formulated For this we can learn from other communities such as the database community who has been going quite some experimentation What we have today highly selective conferences and journals may not be able to capture all of the community Especially we could look into further interaction and publication models embrace new topics take further steps to support geodiversity among others We should take a critical look at what makes sense for us to do The SIG is financially stable and we can allow for some experimentation This is a topic to be brought up in Hong Kong We should gather and review our experience from the first two years of experience with the community projects SIGCOMM has well defined rules for granting in cooperation status to conferences This process for financial sponsorship need also to be documented These items are at various stages of progress which the previous EC will share with the current one 3 Information centric Networking ICN conference The steering committee of the ICN workshop held for the third time at SIGCOMM this year has inquired about financial sponsorship The EC is inclined to support this idea for 2014 with the support being revisited on a year by year basis 4 SIGCOMM Conference Technical Steering Committee One senior member will be stepping down soon and one of the new PC chairs to join Jau will prepare a list of members and the ends
