  • Weller WMRP RT3 — teardown | My 2µF
piece close to its tip broke off After milling away quite a lot of material the vice lost its grip on the body and the thing started to rattle I immediately stopped the mill but the damage was already done Now I have a reason to get a few new tiny end mills as well The 1mm spear drill survived the slot cutting just fine I burnt a couple of fingers on my left hand I forgot that I had just powered the iron and mindlessly picked it up of course I touched the business end of it This entry was posted in Soldering PCBs and tagged RT3 soldering teardown tip weller WMRP Bookmark the permalink Soldering iron tip erosion Weller WMRP RT3 Akafugu LED candle custom PWM firmware Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Notify me of followup comments via e mail Name Email Website Leave this field empty CAPTCHA Code Search for Recent Comments robert on YauDL Y et a nother u seless D ummy L oad Andrew Duckworth on YauDL Y et a nother u seless D ummy L oad robert on YOUYUE 858D hotair station BLDC Fan speed mod Serhii on YOUYUE 858D hotair station BLDC Fan speed mod Serhii on YOUYUE 858D hotair station BLDC Fan speed mod Archives Archives Select Month January 2016 1 December 2015 2 November 2015 3 October 2015 2 September 2015 10 July 2015 4 June 2015 5 May 2015 2 April 2015 5 March 2015 3 February 2015 2 January 2015 1 December 2014 2 November 2014 2 October 2014 3 September 2014 1 August 2014 2 July 2014 2 June 2014 2 May 2014 2 April 2014 4 March 2014 3 February 2014 2 January 2014 1

  • Soldering iron tip erosion — Weller WMRP RT3 | My 2µF
fork out 40 something to buy a new one as the heating element is inseparably fused to the tip You cannot just replace the tip itself and keep the fully functional heater sensor pencil you have to throw away perfectly good hardware just because the tiny tip is EOL That sucks I guess that is the price to pay if you want to have such a small soldering iron and not deal with a heavy broom handle all the time This entry was posted in Soldering PCBs and tagged erosion iron RT3 soldering tip weller WMRP Bookmark the permalink Small project 5 Pentax s5z LED ring for macro shots Weller WMRP RT3 teardown Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Notify me of followup comments via e mail Name Email Website Leave this field empty CAPTCHA Code Search for Recent Comments robert on YauDL Y et a nother u seless D ummy L oad Andrew Duckworth on YauDL Y et a nother u seless D ummy L oad robert on YOUYUE 858D hotair station BLDC Fan speed mod Serhii on YOUYUE 858D hotair station BLDC Fan speed mod Serhii on YOUYUE 858D hotair station BLDC Fan speed mod Archives Archives Select Month January 2016 1 December 2015 2 November 2015 3 October 2015 2 September 2015 10 July 2015 4 June 2015 5 May 2015 2 April 2015 5 March 2015 3 February 2015 2 January 2015 1 December 2014 2 November 2014 2 October 2014 3 September 2014 1 August 2014 2 July 2014 2 June 2014 2 May 2014 2 April 2014 4 March 2014 3 February 2014 2 January 2014 1 December 2013 3 November 2013 6 October 2013 3 August 2013 3 July 2013 2 June

  • May the proper FLUX be with you! — ALWAYS | My 2µF
stick to no stinking copper wires I already use ChipQuik products SMD removal test kit so far and I was and still am impressed by their paste flux Unfortunately I don t have a local source for it I could get it on ebay but the shipping times are somewhat prohibitive I could get if from Digikey but their shipping costs are prohibitive as I usually have a hard time ordering enough to get above the free shipping threshold Recently I stumbled across a review of EDSYN FL 22 noclean paste flux on dangerousprototypes com They liked it a lot I searched for it locally and I was lucky It s not exactly cheap costs even more than the ChipQuik stuff but boy it is GOOD The FL 88 liquid flux is toast compared to it It sticks to the PCB well stays on there long enough doesn t smell it doesn t smoke 285 C at least it does its job nicely It s also quite easy to dispense with a 0 6mm nozzle and comes in a 5ml syringe of reasonable quality with a proper screw on plug and screw on tip Without it Nevermore This entry was posted in Electronics Soldering PCBs and tagged flux paste soldering Bookmark the permalink Truly useable OSHW logo for KiCAD Zombie Meerkat The compulsory Halloween project 3 Responses to May the proper FLUX be with you ALWAYS ubi de feo says October 1 2011 at 00 24 I use this when I m in need very practical it s a tip Gianluca from Arduino Team gave me a few years ago http nl farnell com circuitworks cw8100 dispensing pen no clean flux dp 130692 Reply robert says October 1 2011 at 02 01 That s very similar to the FL 88 I ve been using for ages Still I like the paste flux better for now Can t change my mind every 5 minutes Reply Pingback Weekly Shared Items 3 October 2011 TOXIN LABS weblog of a german design student from wuerzburg Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Notify me of followup comments via e mail Name Email Website Leave this field empty CAPTCHA Code Search for Recent Comments robert on YauDL Y et a nother u seless D ummy L oad Andrew Duckworth on YauDL Y et a nother u seless D ummy L oad robert on YOUYUE 858D hotair station BLDC Fan speed mod Serhii on YOUYUE 858D hotair station BLDC Fan speed mod Serhii on YOUYUE 858D hotair station BLDC Fan speed mod Archives Archives Select Month January 2016 1 December 2015 2 November 2015 3 October 2015 2 September 2015 10 July 2015 4 June 2015 5 May 2015 2 April 2015 5 March 2015 3 February 2015 2 January 2015 1 December 2014 2 November 2014 2 October 2014 3 September 2014 1 August 2014 2 July 2014 2 June 2014 2 May 2014 2
