  • About The Barn at Spring Brook Farm
    Over the years the programs have grown to include individual visitation with one on one interaction between the children and animals a summer day camp with fun filled days that include both animal interaction and activities designed to improve socialization and sensory skills and school field trips that provide opportunities for large groups of special needs children to interact with the animals This formula for visitation has proven to be extremely successful and The Barn has transitioned from a primarily volunteer driven organization to a successful non profit with a professional staff a dedicated Board of Directors and a large group of committed volunteers In 2012 Mary Beth decided it was time for her to retire and spend more time with her children and grandchildren but with her home on the property she is never too far away She also continues to be an active Board member and great advocate for the organization As we have grown so too has our need to adapt to the current environment and focus our efforts In 2013 the Board of Directors recognized a shift in the visitors we are seeing to primarily those children with Autism Spectrum Disorder ASD As a result The

  • Our Animals
    black and one of the children s favorite animals Since she was raised in a home with dogs she walks on a leash and is potty trained She loves to eat dry cereal and just about anything the children feed her Dreamer Miniature Horses Mickey is a registered miniature horse and stands 34 inches tall He is our oldest resident here at The Barn and is very social and loves people especially the smallest visitors Dreamer and Chestnut are miniature horses The girls are half sisters and are 10 years old They are very quiet and love to be handled and groomed They love to give kisses and licks and are delighted when children take them for walks Bonnie and Cricket are mother and daughter Bonnie is a 12 year old mini who loves to be brushed Cricket is just 7 years old and has personality plus She is our smallest equine at only 31 inches tall She is very curious and loves to run fast in the fields Bonnie and Cricket love to be together and you will often find them grazing side by side in the pastures Chestnut Mickey Bonnie Chloe Nubian Goats Annabelle and Chloe are Nubian goats They are very clever and can get out of or into many funny situations They love to follow people around and enjoy taking their animal crackers gently from our youngest visitors Sprout Pygmy Goats Pacer Brussel and Sprout are pygmy goats Brussel and Sprout were born here at the farm on Mother s Day in 2007 They are very friendly and love attention They play like little puppies with one another and our visitors Sugar Sicilian Donkeys Bert and Sugar are our resident donkeys Bert is very curious and loves little Sugar They both enjoy greeting visitors at their

  • The Barn Staff
    development and fundraising efforts She has a heart for service and has worked at non profit organizations for many years Beginning with The Barn in May 2015 she has enjoyed getting to know the wonderful children that participate in programming and the animals that make this organization truly unique Emily obtained her undergraduate degree at Drexel University and a Master s degree at St Joseph s University She lives in Coatesville with her husband Doc Laura Feininger Program Manager Laura facilitates our individual visitation program and serves as a liaison between our families and volunteers She works closely with other staff board and external professionals to create individualized plans for our children Along with programming Laura is also responsible for training and managing our volunteers along with the outreach efforts necessary to expand our presence in the Greater Philadelphia region s special needs community Laura is a graduate of Millersville University where she received her Bachelors of Science in Elementary and Special Education She resides in Kennett Square PA where she lives with her husband Chad and pitbull Mini Chris Guldin Facilities Manager As Facilities Manager Chris oversees all aspects of barn management animal care and assists with activities His
