    Sri Chinmoy Centre New Zealand The New Zealand Sri Chinmoy Centres Christchurch Centre Star in Christmas Parade The Christchurch Sri Chinmoy Centre marched sang and perhaps even floated their way past an audience of over 100 000 yesterday participating in the annual Christmas parade through the heart of Christchurch city New Zealand With Centre members seated upon and marching behind an exquisitely decorated float Sri Chinmoy s joyful musical compositions were played in front of an estimated crowd of 106 000 people In typical Kiwi can do fashion the parade float was put together by a multitude of enthusiastic Christchurch Centre volunteers in a mere 30 hours With artistic efforts headed by the talented Kuhakini a literally heavenly abode was fashioned on the back of a humble flatbed truck pride of place taken by her life size portrait of the Indian goddess of harmony Lakshmi The singers wore colourful bright saris and performed a number of Sri Chinmoy s beautiful songs including Dak eseche Call has come a theme song embodying a clarion call to the spiritual life and played a medley of instruments charming the roadside crowds lining the parade route It was a joyful experience we never imagined

    Centre New Zealand The New Zealand Sri Chinmoy Centres New Short Film Set in New Zealand The summer of January 2005 saw 12 girls from the New Zealand Sri Chinmoy Centre in the midst of some of the most stunning landscapes in New Zealand to shoot their latest short film The Heaviest Load based on a short story by well known author and poet Sri Chinmoy Luckier than most to have on their back doorstep vast and remote locations which were used in the making of the Lord of the Rings movies these avid amateur movie makers had just 2 days at their disposal shoot the film Their travels took them to such scenic spots as the majestic Mt Cook New Zealand s tallest mountain the turquoise blue lakes of Tekapo and the emerald green valleys snow capped mountains and glaciers of the Central Otago Highlands The Heaviest Load which is the fourth short film that the New Zealand girls have made will be released in April Celebrations It is a story with a moral and follows a group of seekers who embark on a long walk through varied countryside with their spiritual teacher When they stop for a picnic

  • New Zealand World Harmony Run 2006 Begins! | New Zealand Sri Chinmoy Centre
    from Christchurch New Zealand s South Island turned on archetypal blue sky and sunshine weather today for the launch of this years New Zealand leg of the World Harmony Run an international torch relay that seeks to promote international friendship and understanding As a symbol of harmony runners carry a flaming torch passing it from hand to hand between members of thousands of communities and travelling through over 70 nations around the globe The World Harmony Run was founded in 1987 by Sri Chinmoy a tireless ambassador for global harmony whose numerous initiatives have inspired people from all walks of life to strive for a more harmonious and fufilling world On what began as a crisp morning following snowfall throughout the Southern Alps over the Queens Birthday holiday weekend members of the New Zealand World Harmony Run team visited four schools in Christchurch and offered a free lunchtime concert for passers by in the city s Cathedral Square The previous Sunday the team also participated in the SBS Christchurch City Marathon carrying the Harmony torch and banners for the whole distance and giving runners and spectators an opportunity to hold and run with the torch as well Before the start of the Marathon the World Harmony Run torch was held by Kiwi running icon Allison Roe and former All Black legend Jeff Wilson Sri Chinmoy with World Harmony Run torch New York 2006 The World Harmony Run hits the highway on Wednesday heading north to run through Kaikoura Blenhiem Nelson and Picton It will then sail to Wellington New Zealand s capital city and will visit several schools there before heading north again toward it s final destination of Auckland The core team of runners is itself like a mini version of the United Nations with participants from New Zealand
