animals as quickly as possible The reason this story is so effective is because the animals retain the characteristics of their species even after being turned into cybernetic killing machines The cat is snarky and independent The rabbit is mildly timid and constantly looking for grass The dog seeks reassurance 1 IS GUD DOG and wants to lead all the other animals to his warm loving home Frank Quitely s art is masterful here with complex layered panels highlighting the heightened senses of the animals as they react to well people trying to murder them Thematically there s a lot going on it s about war it s about animal rights it s about human instinct Utimately though it s a horror story You know how it s going to end and there s nothing you can do but keep reading Or put the book down and walk away which I was tempted to do a number of times We3 is very good but also very brutal It s hard to stomach I urge you to read it If you love animals I urge you to not only read it and also to invest in a box of tissues and some stupid comedies on DVD Grant Morrison has turned the book into a screenplay which is apparently set to be adapted as an R rated film I doubt it will ever be made the audience simply isn t there I know that I personally could not sit through a live action version of this The book is enough Now please enjoy this video of Zoolander compressed into nine minutes Tags animals dogs frank quitely grant morrison violence we3 zoolander Add Comment 7 Comments Spoiler Alert Batman is uh on vacation Posted in comics on 06 03 2009 05 27 pm

void with the Birds of Prey live action series I ve only watched the pilot so far but it s probably safe to say that this is the worst thing to come out of DC Comics Worse than the Catwoman movie Witness the show s intro embedded above Maybe I ll formulate a more cohesive critique when I m less angry about the whole thing Tags batman birds of prey black canary catwoman dc comics huntress oracle wb Add Comment 1 Comment Have some tact his dad just died Posted in comics on 03 01 2009 10 26 am by Zachary DC Comics has decided to pull the plug on three long running monthlies Robin Nightwing and Birds of Prey I m sure this is a business decision which makes it suck pretty hard Now that Batman is uh inactive I was planning on reading Robin to get my Gotham City fix No dice This is probably my own fault for not being able to fix the economy Tags batman dc comics economy robin Add Comment 4 Comments I can t belive he married Lois Posted in comics on 02 14 2009 08 36 pm by Zachary The cover of the Batman Superman annual number three I just really like the idea of a Batman Superman composite hero So goth it hurts Tags annual batman lois lane superman Add Comment No Comments FLESHKILLER would be a fabulous band name Posted in comics on 01 29 2009 01 57 pm by Zachary Batman Year 100 written and illustrated by Paul Pope It s about a dystopian police state version of Gotham City in the year 2039 The story itself is quite weak compared to offerings with similar narratives but I love the ambiguity of the actual Batman character It s very

out guys I d normally just skip this event and wait for the trade paperback but there are parts to this announcement that have me thinking Mainly DC isn t just cleaning up character origins and mythologies like they normally do Oh they had lots of asparagus on Krypton That s why Kryptonite is green or something but they re also trashing every ongoing comic series and starting with new number 1 issues That s pretty drastic although renumbering comics isn t unheard of What is unheard of is same day digital releases for all comics starting with these new number 1 issues That doesn t seem like a summer event reboot That seems like a paradigm shift As if DC is adjusting their entire brand to tailor to the people who are reading comics right now Which is wise because sustainability trumps legacy I believe one of two things will happen as a result of this DC will work towards setting the standard for mass market digital comics It ll be a renaissance of superhero stories all available cheaply on the device of your choice They ll do for digital comics what Amazon s Kindle did for ebooks From there the doors will open for independent artists to sell their own comics digitally and actually make money doing it DC will have singlehandedly saved comics DC will reneg on this in six months when it comes time to plan next summer s big event They ll always treat digital second to physical even though no one is buying physical comics This is the more likely of the two It s sort of amazing that it s 2011 and no one has done digital comics correctly yet There have been attempts from all the major publishers but there has yet
