southerly last night made its trademark weird drifts in some places and ice in others We started off working on long turns down Zali s and Accelerator and a short session on Short turns After Lunch we went to Mt P and had some great snow on Hypertrail just as long as you picked a line without any of the trenches left after the Defense Force race which was held earlier in the day Front Valley with 10 15cm of fresh Blue Cow We got some freshies on the side of Accelerator Heavy freshies on the bottom of Accelerator Paul Lorenz on Zali s Zali s Blue Cow has filled in nicely The T Bar track looks like it will be finished in time to open Olympic this weekend The snow was great on Hypertrail Chris Allen on Hypertrail Richard Jameson the Alpine Technical Director on Hypertrail Reilly McGlashan on Hypertrail Jason Clauscen the Snowboard Technical Director choosing his line Eyre was quiet in the afternoon My legs are trashed I made some improvements and I m looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow Report Perisher Add new comment Your name E mail The content of this field is

  • Crunchy and Dusty: Perisher Report 10/08/13 | Telemark Phat
was great That sexy dry dry snow which so often blows in had covered the refrozen giving some great skiing After a couple of laps of Dog Leg with raised hopes we did a lap of Farm Ck Sadly we got there too early There was boot deep fresh but it was protected by a 2cm crust of ice The skiing was still enjoyable but instead of swooshing through the skis we crunched through the skis At Guthega it was spring I tried a quick lap of Bloody Mary down to the Blue Cow T but with the spring slush and the strong head wind the skiing was not as good as I hoped I regretted that choice even more as the famous Guthega ques magically appeared With the longer waits on every lift back to Perisher Chris and I headed straight to the nordic loops for a quick lap of the 10k This was the first weekend the 10k had been groomed but groomed was a generous description and Chris got to ski something more akin to 15km with the difficult snow and strong head wind The Front Valley Park has grown No more meadow in Centre Valley Dogleg looking nice Wylie s Eyre Bowl filling in Shifty s all dusty and crusty The bottom of Eyre was a bit shiny Chris on Shifty s More Shifty Chris Perisher Valley from the top of Eyre Me on Dogleg The mogul kids were out training Mt Anderson The famous que at the Blue Cow T Bar Spring skiing on Bloody Mary Chris on a Brumby Link 1 with only a hint of brown The 10k Hopefully this next system puts an end to this season curse of clear snow opaque snow clear snow opaque snow Spring needs a good base

  • Freshies Gold Rush: Perisher Report 04/08/2013 | Telemark Phat
chair at the Triple and the ice of yesterday was nowhere to be seen but once at the top I saw both Inter and Eyre were at a stand still After much umming and aaing I decided to commit to Inter and had some lovely dense silky freshies down International Bumps after a 5 min wait I two laps before the gold rush arrived The late lift openings and with Eyre at a stand still they all hit International all at once After one more lap I decided to pin my hopes on Eyre opening soon After a 5 min wait I was on the second T and had a quick run down Come Back Again and then I had three great laps down Shifty s face shots and all The drifts came through With my legs exhausted and Eyre quickly tiring I hiked Olympic and was rewarded with more knee deep and face shots It was an optimistic drive Leichardt at a stand still The que got pretty big before the Ts started turning Freshies at the bottom of Towers But there were still thin patches The Gold Rush below Hypertrail The Double and the Triple after the rush

  • Powder and Ice: Perisher Report 03/08/2013 | Telemark Phat
dry 15cm drifts to play in on the way down the Cleft The Sun Valley T Bar track was still disappointingly thin However things improved with our first run down Interceptor with a bit of effort to dodge the hard icy bits and ski in the drifts we all got a run of freshies Next up we committed to Shifty s and we were rewarded with great drifts and first tracks Johno almost stuck an epic accidental air and I found some drifts to 20cm The weather came in at 11am and with Eyre getting increasingly skied out it became difficult to discern tracked out freshies and refrozen coral We decided to rectify the situation by hiking Olympic However we were let down with alternating sections of ice freshies ice and freshies Front Valley The Lawson t Bar track is looking good But the top was not so good First Tracks skiers left of the Cleft Clefty freshies and icy meadows Sun Valley T Bar track is still a little to green and rocky Dog Leg filling in Perisher Valley from Mt P Tony on Fall Line Tony threading the freshies between the icies Johno on Fall Line Our tracks on the bottom of Fall Line Me on Shifty s Johno on Shifty s Tony s shifty first tracks There were some dry drifts After we were done Johno s big air landing is to the right of the rock take off far above More Shifty s goodness Silhouette time Sun Valley meadow Vista was proving challenging for the punters You can t beat a freshie day with mates but we still need more snow to cover all of the meadows at least At this rate I m not sure if I ll get another Farm Ck run this season
