    League s Workforce Development Center as well as signature fundraising initiatives Golden Fellowship Dinner and SUMMIT Luncheon In the following Q A Eric Smith Chief Financial Officer of Middle Market Banking at JPMorgan Chase and a Chicago Urban League Board member discusses JPMorgan Chase s New Skills at Work initiative and the motivations for his personal commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism Eric Smith CFO of Middle Market Banking at JPMorgan Chase and Chicago Urban League Board Member What is your role at JPMorgan Chase I am the CFO of Middle Market Banking at JPMorgan Chase which provides credit cash management capital markets and corporate finance advisory solutions to companies with annual sales between 50 million and 500 million How long have you served on the Chicago Urban League Board of Directors and what do you hope to accomplish during your tenure I joined the Chicago Urban League Board in 2013 and have been focused on supporting the organization s mission to open the doors of opportunity for African Americans through advocacy collaboration and innovation As such I am currently working to develop a new initiative starting in April 2016 whereby JPMorgan Chase employees will partner with the National Urban League to provide financial literacy training to residents from underprivileged communities in five pilot markets including Chicago Detroit Dallas Houston and Los Angeles JPMorgan Chase partners with the Chicago Urban League in support of its Workforce Development Center How does this partnership further support the Company s initiative New Skills at Work Helping people gain the skills they need to compete in the labor market is important for expanding access to opportunity and promoting economic mobility While there are signs of renewed economic expansion many employers are struggling to fill vacancies especially for middle skill technical positions jobs that require more
