praise thankfulness to God for His goodness are connected When you take time to thank God for your blessings your problems and concerns fade into the background You ll Find Me Running About two years ago it dawned on me that I was seriously out of shape My work had become more sedentary and I hadn t made up for that I enjoyed exercise but never seemed to find the time or motivation to stick with it day after day Cancer Casualty to Triathlete In January of 2002 I was diagnosed with stage 3 metastatic melanoma cancer The survival rate for people who reach this stage of the disease is less than 50 Over half die within five years What would be a difficult prospect for anyone to face was nearly overwhelming for me Snail Patrol Today I went for a walk with some of my friends kids in the countryside surrounding the village in which we live an area consisting of farmland dirt paths and small woods One of a Kind Almost anyone s list of People Who Have Influenced My Life includes at least one teacher What kind of teachers are these The kind who use their talents to help develop their students talents the kind who strive to shape not just the mind but the heart The Golden Cobra Andrea ran as fast as her five year old legs could take her up and up the steep craggy hill that led to her grandparents house at the top As she climbed her sunhatted mother and younger sister shrunk to little more than dots on the road that looped around and up the back of the hill Not a Problem It was the end of another long hectic day My husband had been away on business for almost three weeks and caring for our eight year old son and a two month old baby on my own had been a new and challenging experience I was looking forward to some much needed sleep when my baby became fussy You Are Never Alone Haven t you heard a friend asked Didn t you see the news yesterday The whole world is heartbroken for a little girl who lost her family in one fell swoop Make Us Brave for Life God make us brave for life oh braver than this The Giovanna Solution After four years and a 44 hour bus ride I was finally visiting my daughter and son in law and seeing my young granddaughter Giovanna for the first time She had my heart instantly so cute so smart so active Little Green Steps Of Progress One day Joe broke his arm Joe was a traceur He loved the exhilaration he got from looking at the world as one big obstacle course climbing and falling escaping and reaching Joe pushed himself on his runs sometimes over cars or walls sometimes across rooftops Sometimes too far The Tapestry of the Japan Tsunami In every disaster there are stories of

in a better location a more efficient staff a better PR manager and there were more changes coming in his company s management image and products It takes a lot to succeed in the fast paced world of today We chatted about my recent volunteer work a trip to a flooded province He glanced through the pictures I showed him and commented on the beauty and simplicity of rural life His phone rang and he excused himself returning a minute later to apologize for a hasty departure Some urgent matters had come up and he needed to attend to them at once We should get together again soon Call me next week he said I went to see a friend yesterday I drove eight hours up winding mountain roads to get to a refugee camp scattered across four square kilometers of rural countryside A breathtaking view but rudimentary common conveniences Where the road ended the walking began I waded through a knee deep stream and hiked up a deeply rutted mud trail accompanied by a dozen eager children who had spotted me on the road below I sat on the step of my friend s bamboo hut and smiled at the ragged children who promised that my friend would arrive shortly Then they ran off in the direction of the local well to announce my arrival to the others A minute later my friend was rushing to embrace me a six month old baby slung across her back She ushered me away from the throng of children that had reassembled playfully shooing away the ones that chattered over one another as they tugged on my pants leg In the dim warm interior of her one room hut coffee was served As I savored each sip I considered my friend s thoughtful gesture my cupful was probably her ration for the week Our conversation was broken and limited due to the mountain dialect she spoke but her face shone as she struggled to tell me about her new baby her family and the small group of orphans she was helping to care for What do you need most I asked her thinking to offer her the best from the truckload of supplies I had waiting back on the road at the trail s end I anticipated a detailed list in reply Nothing she answered Whatever we need God supplies He takes good care of us Her baby began whimpering and she hugged him close describing once again the joy he brings her every day and mentioning nothing of the lack of money official papers and other resources needed to give him a good start in life Another refugee a T shirted boy in his late teens came into the hut After introductions he sat on the matted floor next to her his fingers skillfully plucking a soft sweet tune on the weathered guitar he held in his lap as he listened to our conversation It must be wonderful to live in

guilt trip or pressure others to get what it wants Love is too busy being concerned about the needs of others to spend much time worrying about its own Love doesn t freak out when things don t go its way Love is quick to believe the best about people and slow to believe the rest Love hates to hear gossip and instead wants only to talk about others good qualities and the good that they ve done Love knows that what it listens to watches or reads will affect its attitudes and actions and thereby have an effect on others so it s careful about how it spends its time Love is flexible takes everything in stride and can handle whatever comes its way Love is always ready to give others the benefit of the doubt and looks for the best in them Love wants to see others reach their full potential and does all it can to make that happen Love never runs out of patience even with those who are slow to get with the program or do their share Love doesn t keep looking at its watch when others are talking Love never fails I fail others and others can fail me We all can be mistaken misguided or confused at times Our words and deeds often fall short and our bright ideas don t always play out the way we want or expect them to We re frail fallible and often foolish and our understanding of the world we live in not to mention the world to come is only partial at best But when God s Spirit of love lives in us that changes everything We re really just children when it comes to practicing real love but God can help us outgrow our

or are in a financial bind or are in danger or have suffered loss Include both those you know personally and those who you have heard about in the news or from others Say a prayer for each in turn claiming an appropriate promise of God from the Bible see examples below Work your way down your list for 10 or 15 minutes daily spending a minute or so praying for each person Add people to your list as their needs come to your attention As your list grows you probably won t be able to pray for every person each day in the time you have allotted Pray for the most serious and urgent situations first and as many of the others as you have time for Whenever you reach the bottom of your list start again at the top When God answers one of your prayers thank Him for doing so and then drop that entry from your daily prayer list You may want to keep a separate list of answered prayers and take a moment to review it at the beginning of your prayer time to boost your faith that He will also meet the needs still on your list Make praying for others a daily habit and you will not only help make their lives better but your faith will grow and your spiritual life will be enriched as you see God work God s promises for those who need healing I will restore health to you says the Lord Jeremiah 30 17 The prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise him up James 5 15 for those in danger God is a very present help in trouble Psalm 46 1 The Lord is a stronghold in the day of trouble

  • The Power in Praise: A Most Unconventional Warfare | The Family International
of the Lord who is with you King Jehoshaphat bowed to the ground in worship The crowd followed the king s lead while the priests raised their voices to praise the Lord The next morning as the troops made preparations for battle King Jehoshaphat encouraged them Believe in the Lord your God and so shall you be established Have faith in His prophets and so shall you have good success The king consulted with the people and it was decided that singers should lead the troops into battle That daring step of faith showed that they believed God would fight for them Praise the Lord for the beauty of His holiness Jehoshaphat instructed the singers as they took their position Give thanks to the Lord for His mercy endures forever They were thanking God in advance for the victory He had promised the day before No sooner had they begun to sing and praise than God set ambushes against the people of Ammon Moab and Mount Seir who had come against Judah and they were defeated The Bible doesn t specify what those ambushes were but it does explain that the men of those three invading kingdoms began to fight among themselves First the men of Ammon and Moab rose up against those of Seir and when they had destroyed them the two armies destroyed each other When the army of Judah came to a promontory overlooking the battlefield they saw only dead bodies on the ground No one had escaped Jehoshaphat and his men gathered so many valuables from the bodies that it took them three days to collect them all On the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah which means the Valley of Praise and there they blessed God Then they returned home with joy

is God From Jesus with Love The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life John 6 63 That s as true today as it was when Jesus said it to His disciples of old And it s also just as true of the fresh new words He speaks to His children today as it is of His words that we read in the Bible God Still Speaks God isn t dead He s alive and well and still ready willing and able to speak to His children and He wants to speak to you How can that be you may ask Temple Time I see a vision of a group of people under a dome in a big central room They re all looking up like they expect something There are other people rushing around busily out in the wings in service to God but the people under the central dome are just standing there quietly looking up Stop Look Listen For a Christian one of the main principles involved in reaching a decision is this Don t start trying to reason it out or talking it over with others pray God likes for us

  • God on God | The Family International
God I have always regarded the conceptions most of mankind has of Me with a mixture of amusement puzzlement and sadness To best understand Me it is better not to conceive of Me as a person but rather as the Spirit of love That is what I am at My essence and that is how My presence is most commonly manifested in the world Everyone has been touched by love at some time in their lives Think of someone you love or have loved and are loved by in return Recall how you feel when you are near them Now think what that would be like multiplied not just a few but very many times over You now have an idea of what I am like Interviewer So when we feel warm and fuzzy that s You Some might take exception to that and think that You are appropriating the love they feel for or from someone God Perhaps some might take exception but please understand that this is simply a statement of fact I am not just assigning all your nice warm loving feelings to Myself I am simply stating that love is not just part of Me but it is Me I place it in the world so people can have a taste of what I am like I am love Interviewer You said you are a spirit Does that mean You don t have human like features such as a head legs arms etc God I created man in My likeness but the part of man that is particularly My likeness is the spirit that dwells within his body I can and do manifest Myself in the bodily likeness of a man but I am not limited to that Interviewer So when we see works of art where You are depicted similar to how Jupiter or Zeus of the old Roman Grecian mythology were depicted then this is somewhat right God I have never posed for an earthly portrait but some have seen Me on occasion in a human manifestation So that sort of representation comes pretty close to how you could imagine Me But in reality I would like it if people could get past the human concept and come to understand Me more spiritually Interviewer How would one do that God By seeking to understand My Words to mankind rather than engaging in debate over My appearance and nature Interviewer I see Yet it is our human nature to be somewhat on the skeptical analytical side We like to understand who we are dealing with Surely You must understand this since You created humanity God Yes I do understand but the reason I created you like this was to see who would rise above the level of skepticism to an attitude of simple belief Interviewer You are talking about faith here God Yes exactly Interviewer But is faith in fact a good thing Faith is often manipulated by the unscrupulous Isn t it better for
