    Christmas Cheer to Retirees Every Christmas members of our Family International community visit a nearby retirement home to interact with the elderly residents and bring some warmth and cheer into their lives Donating Educational Materials to Daycare Centers in Parañaque During December 2007 Family International volunteers were able to assist over 1000 children in poor schools with food staples such as rice canned goods and biscuits Comfort for the Needy We were invited to take part in the anniversary ceremony and celebration of a local hospital that offers free care to the underprivileged Andy Marie and their children sang and performed much to the delight of the audience which included both patients and hospital staff 2006 Articles 7 Nice Smile The Nice Smile free dental clinic is part of Channel of Hope a project of the Family International in Cebu the most densely populated of the more than 7 100 Philippine islands Salvation for Body and Soul On my last visit to a prison where we have a ministry I gave a class to 44 inmates who were serving time for drug related offenses I read stories about healing from the Bible and shared personal accounts of healings I d witnessed during my time as a Christian volunteer Dental Project Update The Cebu Dental Society which we have worked with in the past asked that we do a puppet show at their special activity during Dental Month We put together a new 40 minute show focusing on health hygiene and the care of our teeth which our teen and preteen puppeteers presented beautifully 2003 Articles 2 Dental Mission 2003 We held our first dental mission last year a project that was conceived after I attended a series of operations on children with harelip or cleft palate The condition of the

    with overseas relief efforts by securing aid items and packing and shipping containers of donated aid to Madagascar and Sri Lanka Showing God s love in practical ways is our passion Project highlights Stories articles Project Highlights Prison ministry Since 1996 the Family International has ministered to those in prison offering support and counsel as well as arranging visits for those who have no visitors We participate in family days and special events and assist the prison chaplains by providing music and Christian counseling for inmates on a weekly basis Family members have also assisted the chaplaincy in Kariong Juvenile Justice Centre on the Central Coast as well as providing basketball training and bringing in young people from the community to interact with the boys Tsunami Relief Shortly after the 2004 Asian Tsunami the Family International and Change the World foundation responded by collecting aid supplies and sending four 40 foot containers of humanitarian aid valued at over AUD 500 000 to Sri Lanka Working in conjunction with government agencies other Sydney and overseas charities Family members worked tirelessly to secure the aid and containers as well as organise the shipping all free of charge Hospital programs and performances Family volunteers in Australia and their children share the message of God s love through performances at hospitals retirement villages nursing homes and street performances Many of our teenagers and young adults are accomplished musicians singers and dancers and their performances are all the more appreciated because of the love and concern that motivates them Cyclone Larry 2006 relief Family volunteers working with Change the World responded to the devastation caused by Cyclone Larry by sending a team of volunteers to Innisfail Queensland They helped with the clean up operations as well as networking with the Australian Red Cross and the

    relief efforts that the Family contributed to were those following the Great Hanshin Kobe Earthquake in 1995 and the Mid Niigata Prefecture Earthquake in October 2004 Assisting the homeless Some Family centers in Japan distribute food and daily necessities donated by business organizations and individuals to the homeless in parks and station grounds Besides the distribution of goods members regularly prepare food and make personal visits to the sick and offer counseling and motivational courses to encourage individuals to become self sufficient Stories articles Organizing special events Our volunteers regularly visit local retirement homes orphanages single mothers circles juvenile training schools and medical facilities Throughout the year on occasions such as Christmas Children s Day Respect for Senior Citizens Day and summer and winter vacation Family members prepare special events for those staying at the facilities and organize programs for the children as well as devoting time to personal interaction and encouragement Volunteer work overseas Our members participate in humanitarian aid activities and other volunteer work overseas such as supporting institutions schools and hospitals Our centers assemble needed materials provided by corporations and individuals who are interested in donating to needy situations and arrange the transportation and distribution of the materials Distribution and translation of Christian literature and productions The Family Japan is active in the distribution of Gospel literature and outreach We distribute an array of Christian publications and products including Activate magazine CDs and books We also translate and publish Bible study courses and Christian literature on topics such as family problems child rearing human relations forming good habits communication and more Bible Classes Family members in Japan host Bible classes for those interested in growing in the Christian faith and Sunday school for neighborhood children The participants find many helpful tips and solutions in the Bible to

    toll in the thousands TFI members from across the Philippines as well as Thailand and Indonesia joined in the relief efforts to bring needed goods comfort and encouragement to survivors Stories articles Photo album Women s Prison Ministry Since 1997 the Family International has been visiting the Correctional Institution for Women the only women s correctional facility in the Philippines We give weekly Bible studies as well as donate toiletries and other basic supplies for those who don t have a source of outside help Through the help of various companies we have also been able to provide medical assistance as well Stories articles Photo album Daycare Project At Cervantes Daycare Center in Parañaque our volunteers conduct weekly activities to help teach morals and character building lessons to the indigent children We use sponsored curriculums stories Bible verses and songs to help instill important values We also regularly donate food and other basic necessities at this and other daycare centers in the area Stories articles Computers and School Supplies We have been gathering support and donated items towards a special project in Roxas Mindoro to help provincial schools with much needed educational materials as well as computer equipment Thanks to the generous help of OSG Shipping we were able to donate computers to remote schools in Mindoro along with curriculums to help the teachers impart fundamental moral and spiritual values to the children Anti Drug Center Bible Studies We hold weekly Bible studies with the inmates at the anti narcotics holding center at the Parañaque City Hall which includes singing counselling and prayer We also assist this center with donated food as well as Bibles and other Christian material The donation of a guitar has been very much appreciated since the inmates many of whom are young teens are often

    and childcare counseling sessions Our students come from all walks of life and have responded with enthusiasm to the training and counseling received Activated is also the name of our monthly magazine Institutes for the mentally challenged Working with local charities volunteers from the Family International often visit centres for the mentally challenged Children who had withdrawn into their own worlds make remarkable progress with the Family s volunteers and they have made important personal breakthroughs in a number of cases Staff members and parents alike benefit from the encouragement that we bring and the happy smiles that greet us when we arrive are all the payment we could desire Hospital visits Accomplished Family entertainers and volunteers give their time on a monthly basis to perform in a variety of hospitals around the island particularly in Taipei City Taichung City and the east coast Members visit patients offering prayer counsel and comfort to the suffering Performances in the hospital lobbies and the children s wards bring cheer and comfort to the children Distributing toys gifts and sponsored items is also part of these regular visits Activities at Juvenile Delinquent Centers and Detention Centers Since 1994 volunteers in Taiwan have participated in rehabilitation efforts for troubled youth in detention centers and prisons in Taipei City Taichung City Hsinchu City and Yuanlin County Family International volunteers offer Bible based counseling to troubled youth as well as English classes featuring motivational Christian material and host organized benefit performances throughout the year We have received recognition for our work from the Taipei Juvenile Detention Center Taiwan After Care Association Shin Ju Reform High School as well as Family Care Association Taichung Senior citizen homes Each Christmas volunteers for the Family International bring holiday cheer to the elderly in a number of institutions in Taiwan
