  • A Trip to Timor Island | The Family International
    Kupang Angel leading a Seminar in Atambua Angel with school children at the Atambua School in Timor Angel a TFI member along with a dear Korean friend visited Timor Island where they joined TFI Volunteer Nicolas at two orphanages outside Kupang bringing needed supplies of clothing shoes school books bags and supplies toys and character building books for the children In addition to many needed supplies at the Sonaf Manekat orphanage they also helped with the paying of school fees directly to the schools where the orphans study Angel then held an educational seminar for teachers from thirty schools This lively seminar was based on the theme of Character Building in the student s lives and included talks workshops and an inspirational programs Each teacher was left with a sponsored set of 20 books teacher s instructional book and a CD of songs to use with the children After programs in Kupang FCI volunteers travelled seven hours across Timor to Atambua to the village school established by TFI members in that area There they held a seminar for local teachers as well as those from surrounding villages introducing a new Character Building course Angel also set up another new donated

    Sarah with some of the children from the Onut Waste Disposal Daycare Centers Sarah with donated materials for the Onut Waste Disposal Daycare Center Sarah serving food to the children at the Onut Waste Disposal Daycare Center John with some of the children from the Onut Waste Disposal Daycare centers As part of an ongoing projects TFI members John and Sarah regularly visit the Onut Waste Disposal Daycare centers where they spend quality time with the children and most recently made possible the donation of a new computer to the center as well as toys notebooks and a special lunch In a country where wet and dry garbage is sorted by hand in garbage dumps by the lowly garbage collector who earns 2 3 Euros a day for his services the daycare centers provide valuable care and education for the collectors children In the Onut area there are three daycare centers for about 100 of the worker s children One center is for babies up to three years old and the other two centers for three to six year olds As the children grow and change their needs range from healthy food and vitamins to essential clothing and other basic
