    An Anti Violence Week Seminar was held in Special School No 6 together with the proximity police of Sector 4 In 2009 In March a two day seminar was presented to the educators and caregivers at the Urziceni Children s Social Center on the topics of The Call of a Teacher and Love Finds a Way In May a second two day seminar was presented to the educators and caregivers at the Urziceni Children s Social Center on the topic of Unconditional Love and Acceptance and Caring for Children with Special Behavioral Needs Helping Inmates in Penitentiaries Since 2003 we have been assisting the authorities at several penitentiaries Following are some highlights for the last two years 2008 In March we participated in the national Anti Violence Week by holding a seminar against domestic violence at Jilava Penitentiary which was filmed and later shown to the rest of the 2 500 inmates over the internal TV network 2008 Our children s singing and dancing group performed at Easter to a select audience The show was filmed and later aired for the rest of the inmates 2008 The Right to Be Parents Seminar was presented to the inmates of the Jilava

  • Humanitarian Aid - Project Highlights | The Family International
    as well as organizing shows for the children We also organized an event for 100 destitute families in Bucharest Substantial packages containing clothes shoes toys school materials and basic food staples educational children s books and ContactS magazines the Romanian edition of Activated were delivered door to door to the people participating in this program In Bacau County we ve donated sets of sheets and towels to institutions in various orphanages and hospitals We also distribute packages of food clothing bedding and toys to very needy families who live in extreme hardship conditions We visit their homes bringing them goods and encouragement Maternal Assistance Our volunteers organized a special event with music and fun for the mothers from the Maternal Assistance in Sector 3 Bucharest as most of them struggle with difficulties in life We were able to provide them with strollers highchairs baby cereals baby toys food packages and other items for their small children Food Distribution to Institutions and the Needy in Bucharest In 2008 2009 Family volunteers distributed staples fruit and dairy products on a monthly basis to an average of 1 500 people in institutions senior citizens and underprivileged families and individuals in Bucharest and the

  • Helping Children in Need - Project Highlights | The Family International
    Romania New playground equipment for Urziceni Social Center Romania Urziceni Social Center Assisting the Social Services Center in Urziceni has been an ongoing project of Family volunteers for over 10 years The volunteers have been involved in organizing activities and excursions for the children renovating the facilities and holding seminars for the staff of teachers and caregivers Some of the improvements in the physical standard of the institution include the installation of a new heating system new ovens for the kitchen and a new industrial washing machine Some of the activities the children have enjoyed since the beginning of 2009 have been musical programs and presents for Christmas and Easter a special Children s Day trip to Unirea Mall in Bucharest for a time of games and gifts and more At the beginning of 2009 Family volunteers initiated a project to construct a new multifunctional sports field and playground for the children at the center The sports field is the first of its kind in Ialomita County The inauguration ceremony in June 2009 was a lovely occasion to bring the local community together for a happy Sports Day celebration In March and May 2009 two two day seminars were presented to the educators and caregivers at the Social Center covering topics useful in their care of the resident children Voluntarios de la Familia Internacional llevan de excursión al Monte Sinaia a los niños del Centro Social Urziceni en Rumania Excursion to Sinaia Mountain for 50 children from Urziceni Social Center Romania Educational Excursions for underprivileged and special needs children Family volunteers take joy in organizing educational excursions for children who normally do not have the opportunity to travel to places of national or cultural interest One of the year s highlights is hosting summer camps at a small town on

    drive making the holiday a memorable experience for many children and elderly in several hospitals and institutions including Fundeni Oncopediatry Ward Grigore Alexandrescu Pediatric Hospital School No 9 for children with special needs and Center for Assistance and Support Sf Vasile The program consisted of an Easter performance by the NoLimits children s dance troupe a clown show and the distribution of gift packages After the program Family members visited room to room to bring encouragement to those who weren t able to attend distributing gift packages and Activated magazines as well as sharing a song or a prayer with those in need Music is the language of the heart and can truly communicate love comfort and inspiration to those facing life s adversities Participating in these musical programs one realizes the truth of the saying A little bit of love goes a long way The reality of these words motivates us to do even more for those in need Hospital Clown Shows Over the years we have been actively involved in organizing and performing clown shows for sick children in various hospital wards Children and adults alike enjoy a moment of joy in an otherwise sober environment The clowns

    Senior Citizens assisting the local charity Camin Spital Sf Luca The program includes organizing monthly birthday luncheons honoring those who have their birthday during the month These luncheons are courtesy of La Mama a popular restaurant chain While enjoying the meal together we take time to talk with the elderly about Heaven read to them pray for and with them and help them in any way we can For Easter

  • Helping Inmates in Penitentiaries | The Family International
    the last two years are In 2007 Easter program for 150 prisoners We sang songs and read portions from the Activated magazine which we later distributed to all We started a program called Health for Body and Soul in partnership with the dental faculty at Carol Davila University in Bucharest They provided dental check ups to the inmates and our team offered counseling and prayer This was a weekly project which lasted over four months Penitentiary Day Our volunteers performed with well known Romanian singers for 150 prisoners The program consisted of meaningful songs and issues of the Activated magazine were distributed to all attendees We organized the donation and delivery of sanitary accessories such as showers and sinks as well as food We presented a Christmas program for 150 prisoners We sang songs read portions from the Activated magazine and later distributed the Activated Christmas issue to all Thus far in 2008 In March we participated in the national anti violence week by holding a seminar against violence which was filmed and later shown to the rest of the 2500 inmates over the internal TV network Our children s singing and dancing group performed at Easter to a select
