  • The Scuba Lesson | The Family International
The pressure was too great and I could feel my chest paining My teeth clamped down on the mouthpiece of the regulator and claustrophobia set in My mind told me that I had to get to the surface where I could breathe normally through my nose That s when he gave me the signal to look him in the eye and then motioned with his hand to relax Inhale exhale he signed to me Inhale exhale I couldn t believe Mike wasn t going to help me surface I inhaled through my mouth as normally as my brain could force my body to cooperate Then I exhaled slowly The bubbles ascending from my regulator told me everything was okay Gradually my lungs felt normal again and before long I was breathing at a regular pace Mike motioned for me to swim down further in order to get a look at the clown fish and other sea creatures on the ocean floor For the next half an hour I explored a beautiful world of natural treasures and forgot all about my momentary panic attack Eventually we resurfaced and were helped into the boat Back on shore we laughed with the rest of the crew about the day s adventures You wouldn t let me come back up for air I jokingly protested to Mike But you were okay as soon as you relaxed right he said with a smile You had more than enough air in your tank See it was all in your mind After you overcame that you wanted to stay down there Mike had over 30 years of diving experience so I figured he knew what he was talking about And as a certified instructor to hundreds of first timers like me he probably saw that panic scene

  • God's Plan | The Family International
comes the honey Like a beautiful flower that is pressed and crushed God applies the pressure and out comes the perfume Some of the most precious lessons in life come out of deep dark experiences David Brandt Berg For the most part though Mum remained positive appreciative hopeful and full of faith and she did her best to encourage us to do the same Many of us were deeply touched by the grace she displayed in the face of such difficulty and suffering I learned a lot and know that I am better for having gone through this with her For example I had never been able to relate to people who had lost a loved one a grandparent mother father sibling or close friend but now I understand what that s like I was always very close to my mum so I feel as though I have lost one of my best friends as well as my mum It was difficult to accept at first but I know now that it was part of God s plan a plan that He explained to me in a dream In that dream He said I bring tears into your life to water the soil of your heart Otherwise the goodness would be lost These tears enrich your life and allow beauty to spring forth in My good time He showed me that if we didn t have difficult times our hearts would be like a dry dusty desert where the sand is swept whichever way the wind happens to blow Even the best topsoil must stay moist in order to bring forth the beauty of new life God our heavenly gardener has a plan for each of our lives Although He lets us go through difficult times He never expects us

fresh from Heaven that they understand prayer and other spiritual matters better than most adults They talk to God and He talks to them It s that simple They have no problem at all getting His ear with their pure simple childlike faith It is given to children to be rich in faith Faith just comes naturally to them They have faith to believe anything God says and with them nothing is impossible The problem with many grown ups is that they know too much They ve been educated out of their childlike faith But there are others of trusting childlike faith who are daily doing things that doubting intellectuals say can t be done So be like a little child and anything wonderful can happen Reposted courtesy of Activated March 2008 issue Tweet All Topics Views on Issues The Future Reflections on Life Relationship with God Hearing from God Bible Studies What are Viewpoints These articles are a small sample of our literature which covers a wide variety of spiritual and practical topics For more posts and podcasts featuring TFI s writings visit Anchor and Director s Corner If you would like to read more articles by members of

  • The Power in Praise: Thank God for the Good | The Family International
negatively about yourself thank God for something He blessed you with instead good health a sound mind or some quality or talent that others admire in you There are so many things you could thank God for Think how much worse off you could be and think of others who are Pray for someone who is battling a long term illness or coping daily with a debilitating handicap Job was delivered from his problems when he prayed for his friends Job 42 10 Take a positive approach and pretty soon the instigator of your negative thoughts the old Devil himself or one of his henchmen will give up When your spiritual enemy sees that your praises and prayers are defeating him every time he ll think twice before tempting you with negative thinking and you can be thankful for that Tweet All Topics Views on Issues The Future Reflections on Life Relationship with God Hearing from God Bible Studies What are Viewpoints These articles are a small sample of our literature which covers a wide variety of spiritual and practical topics For more posts and podcasts featuring TFI s writings visit Anchor and Director s Corner If you would like

  • The Power in Praise: Blessings From Battles | The Family International
of our life We need to get this principle so deeply ingrained within us that it becomes impossible for us to forget neglect or overlook it Romans 8 28 is something that should be as much a part of our conscious and even subconscious thoughts and way of looking at things as the necessity of prayer the importance of the Word the inevitability of tests and trials and the certainty of God s love If we fail to send the events of our daily lives through the filter of Romans 8 28 if we fail to constantly view our disappointments hurts problems illnesses etc through the perspective that Romans 8 28 gives us we will tragically miss many of the valuable lessons the Lord is trying to teach us and we will rob ourselves of the peace that comes from absolute trust in this precious promise and principle If you learn the simple equation trials equal good your life will be richer life s lessons profounder and your mind more tranquil You will also more easily recognize the Lord s hand in the events of your life It makes all the difference in the world whether you look at a flood of problems trials and tribulations just waiting to see the worst happen or if you look at them with the excitement and challenge that comes from waiting to discover all the good you know the Lord will bring out of them Tweet All Topics Views on Issues The Future Reflections on Life Relationship with God Hearing from God Bible Studies What are Viewpoints These articles are a small sample of our literature which covers a wide variety of spiritual and practical topics For more posts and podcasts featuring TFI s writings visit Anchor and Director s Corner If you

  • The Power in Praise: Maurine's Secret to Happiness | The Family International
nursing home lobby for hours Maurine smiled sweetly when told that her room was ready As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator I provided a visual description of her tiny room including the eyelet curtains that had been hung on her window I love it she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight year old having just been presented with a new puppy Mrs Jones you haven t seen the room Just wait That doesn t have anything to do with it she replied Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time Whether I like my room or not doesn t depend on how the furniture is arranged it s how I arrange my mind I already decided to love it It s a decision I make every morning when I wake up I have a choice I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work or I can get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do Each day is a gift and as long as my eyes open I ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I ve stored away Attitude is everything and as Maurine demonstrates our attitudes don t have to be dictated by circumstances We each have a choice May your daily choices bring you great happiness and fulfillment and may the way you live help others find the same With God s help it s easier than you may think Tweet All Topics Views on Issues The Future Reflections on Life Relationship with God Hearing from God Bible Studies What are Viewpoints These articles are a small sample of our literature which covers a wide variety of spiritual and practical topics For
