  • Child & youth | The Freedom Theatre
    As a theatre we want to work with people from when they are children nurturing the joyfulness and freedom that children have within them Ahmad Tobasi Child Youth coordinator Theatre workshops Ongoing theatre workshops form one cornerstone of the Child Youth program In 2015 The Freedom Theatre arranged a summer camp where 45 children had a playful introduction to theatre through drama exercises and games In the autumn the participants were invited to join ongoing theatre workshops that built on the foundation laid in the summer camp The aim of the theatre workshops is to promote the participant s imagination and creativity These children have such a need for play This is the place where they feel they can be free to play to imagine Our challenge is to take that energy and transform it into something that we can create together Ahmad Tobasi coordinator of the Child Youth program At the end of each term relatives of the participants are invited to see their children perform thereby involving the families in the activities We believe that there is immense potential for play and creativity in both children and adults which manifests itself quickly when the right conditions prevail I was bored with just hanging around in my neighbourhood I wanted to learn something new I love being here and I wish I could come every day I learn about acting but I also learn many other things For example I learned not to throw rubbish on the street and I do the same at school now Jamal Abu Juos theatre workshop participant Training in creative and artistic activities with children To improve The Freedom Theatre s internal capacity of working with children and youth through workshops and trainings is another cornerstone of our Child Youth program These trainings will
